I used to see an Amphicar inside a fence at an auto shop back in the 80’s. Not sure if it was the same one, but by pure luck I saw one in action one day from land to water. I knew it was special but now I’d say it’s second to seeing a new Bugatti a few years back.
It seemed like it was virtually mandatory for anyone who owned an amphicar to get the cops after them, and then drive down a boat ramp into a lake leaving the frustrated cops on shore
Had a friend in Pennsylvania when I was young that had a BMW Isetta It was very cool with 1 door The boat cars are very popular still today I always wanted one It is on my bucket list An odd egg shaped car like the Dymaxion is in a local Paint shop in Mesa Arizona but I don't know if it actually is I haven't seen it up close in many years but It still remains in it's front window
Back in the mid 60s I worked at the Ford Livonia Mi plant with a fellow named Scotty who bought a amphibious car as he lived on Walled Lake as I remember, every time I hear about one these amphibious cars I think of him.
I believe there were 3 F88;s completed and one incomplete car, one of the three had caught fire. The incomplete one and the burn were used to make the most recent restored one, Which is beautiful!! ( I got this information from the guy that did the restoration)
The custom body on that Buick Hearse is clearly europian in origins and also was probably retrofitted in the late 1950's or early 1960's as it looks nothing like an American Style hearse and has many modern late 50's Buick trim pieces on the car.
Great reviews of some very unique cars. The f88, though based on the Corvette, almost looks like a first year Thunderbird, and just a thought, i know these were made in higher numbers, when was the last time you saw a merkur scorpio, xr4ti, sterling 825sl, Subaru Baja, isuzu vehicross, dodge Dakota convertible, or a Volkswagen thing. I love quirky vehicles, just a few i thought of. And are there any checker limousines or station wagons left.
Yes, there are still SOME Checkers around, as there are in Hemmings. Wagons are even rarer, and command high prices, and the uprising popularity of wagons of all makes and brands are making prices even higher! 😱😢
Too often people on the internet are taken as experts, in any number of disciplines, and believed, 'cause they're holding a microphone. You stated the Buick hearse you featured, with the 1955 Chebby pickup truck dash, had "...tail and bumper lights from a 1956 Chebby..," while showing photos of the 'tail and bumper' of a 1957 Chebby and taillights from a 1956 Chrysler. I have a friend in Norfolk, Virginia who hand-built a carbon fibre-on-wood Bugatti Royale in 2008 featuring a V10 engine. The Dymaxion utilized a Ford flathead 8.

The Corvette was the demise of many promising designs, I wish GM would have just expanded their performance line up instead giving anything but the Corvette the axe. 🐾✌️🇺🇸

Could have been interesting if it were right, however, a 47 Buick with a chevy bowtie on the ashtray??? You say 56 Chevy tail-lights then show 57 Bel-air lights. Why?? You say the Bugatti handled well despite its size, then show someone driving, a left-hooker, but the Bugatti in the photo is RHD. Which one is he driving?? THEN someone is mig-welding - on a car made all the time ago!! RE the F88, if that's it it seems to have turned yellow - but the wheelarches are different from the white one shown. Was THAT a lost prototype?? The Peel P50, the picture in the mirror shows it to have grown another door!! WHERE??? There isn't room!!! Then someone is driving it _ but that is NOT a Peel dashboard! Then you go on about the NEW Peel, AND SHOW A BMW ISETTA!! The Amphicar, again mig-welding going on - a car built 1961-1965?? Driving film, none had that shape of wheelarch. Next you say it had to be greased in 13 places, must have been an engine strip every time because that is the BIG END of a con-rod. If you can't get it right, don't do it at all!!!
Amphibious means land & water, so to say an amphibious car that drives on land is unnecessarily redundant & it's just talking in circles. You're doing too much, computer narrator fake guy.
Those are 56 Chrysler tail lights
0:27 The fin on the left is the world's most recognizable car, the 1957 Chevy.
If these guys can't tell the difference between a 56 and a 57 Chevy, no use me watching.
@@atvseatexchange2176 you got that right!

I love a hearse.

Why did you use an Isetta for the dinky little car? Also it looks more like a 57 Chevy taillights on that hearse in the beginning of the video
Swim vagon
Tail lights for my 56 Chevy and they're showing a picture of a 57
Don't forget another bubble car: the Messerschmidt. The Geodesic dome was probably the greatest Bucky Fuller invention.

One of my roommates from tech school used a 57 Pontiac Hearse for his daily driver!! This was in the early 70s!!

👍Very cool!

Cool video. I hadn't heard of most of the cars listed. Too bad car companies or builders still scrap their concepts that don't make it to production

I saw one of the water cars a couple of years ago in upstate ny on a lake while eating lunch
The Oldsmobile F88 looks better then the vette
Chrysler tail lights, not Chevy. Look at the Pictures. Do your homework if you want to be taken seriously by those of us who KNOW CARS!
also he said '56 Chevy tail lights, those shown are from a '57. Honestly the back looks like from either a '57 Pontiac or '57 Cadillac.
45 colors on the Isetta wow!
You didn't mention that one of the seven Bugatti Royale, was found and saved from a long island, New York in (I think)the early 50s
Your video has numerous photos accompanying the narrative that are totally incorrect representations of the feature being discussed.
Yup
Buck Knife case on the steering column in the opening scene. I have the same and it's not that old.

I can dig it!
The last ride, for some one going too the big yard for eternity. Maybe?
the Peel yeah but I'd put in a better faster engine but I'd want the bigger Trident
All the stock footage formatting is kinda goofy and could be misleading to some due to incorrect images unrelated to the subjects. Otherwise not bad!
I agree on the unrelated useless pic etc.

That's an Ambulance, my Dad had one
I’m sorry I opened this welding flash, it might of caused poor coverage and hallucinations. You pollute the You Tube.

You should've stuck around for the mispronunciations and stock photos.
Wow Greece made 56 Chevys that looked like our 57 Chevys????

I’m so happy to burst your bubble, but it’s pronounced “Bew-Gotti”, NOT “Boo-Gotti”…
Jaguar owner ?
