Because young clueless ignorant kids are “too foolish” to understand that we had a “chip shortage” just two years ago and game developers couldn’t even get graphics cards and were developing on old legacy hardware or extremely expensive cards and now suddenly we can get cards and gamers are crying at the lack of games and crying about “optimization” AND crying about wanting 400fps at 4K resolution (natively without Frame Generation or DLSS/FSR). Young kids are clueless and insane. It will take two to three more hardware generations before you begin to see the graphics fidelity that YOU want at the insane FPS that you are crying about. The human eye can’t see beyond 30FPS… so forget about the FPS. Stop crying about graphics quality and either turn down the graphics quality, or play at 1080p, or get yourself and RTX 9090Ti (space heater) that will heat your home for you as you cry about gaming at 4K or 8K at 400FPS while demanding near photorealism / cinematic quality graphics (rendered in real-time). Sick little children. It’s insane what small studios are doing these days (with LESS than $500 Million dollar budgets) and seeing games like this come from small Indie studios is amazing! It’ll be another year or two before the game becomes optimized and will be another hardware generation (or two or three) before children are “happy” with the 400fps that they are crying about (at 4K resolution) which is insane. DLSS and FSR are a requirement nowadays to “bridge the gap” between underpowered GPUs and children wanting photorealism at 4K or 8K resolution and expecting it to be rendered in real-time at 400fps. Kids are either dumb or mentally sick, but turn the graphics quality down and set your resolution to 1080p and enjoy the gameplay and quit crying about graphics. It’ll be another 2 or 3 Hardware generations before you can see the graphics quality and FPS that you are asking for (without DLSS/FSR frame generation).
Plus thinking that you can get WORSE hardware instead of better hardware isn’t going to solve your problems either. Turn your screen resolution down and turn down your graphics settings (or use DLSS/FSR for the next two or three hardware generations) until we have “affordable” hardware that can render (in real-time) the cinematic quality graphics at 400fps at 4K or 8K like these children are crying for.
Instead of graphics, turn the graphics settings down and focus on the gameplay! Stop worrying about graphics and focus on the storylines!

Then adding Lumen, and other UE5 capabilities would have ran this game a lot smoother. But the R2 devs were probably under pressure to ship as fast as possible. Big mistake on the Dev overlords part. Like 4k just became mainstream in gaming like 2-3 years ago.2 to 3 years ago we had a pandemic that highly impacted chip production and technological advances. So expect the 4090 to perform 80 percent of it true potential because if covid didn't happen developers would have more time to optimize. I remember when people would see a CryEngine game and be AMAZED at the visual quality (as well as destructible vegetation, etc) and we almost considered that “photorealism” during that era. I remember everyone cracking jokes about their high end workstations and asking “Can it play Crysis?”
But unfortunately, these young kids expect photorealism and extremely high end (and expensive) graphics (rendered in REAL-TIME) and somehow think it’s just “magic” and don’t understand the processing power it takes to render such fidelity in real-time.
I also agree that (especially smaller studios) are FORCED to focus on graphics (instead of gameplay) and in the end… games suck. I do agree with you. Gameplay is getting worse and worse, and too much is being focused on graphics and frame rates (because this “younger” generation seems to believe that is what is “important”). These kids are trying to render games (in real-time) that would have taken a “server farm” of Onyx or Octane workstations and servers to render (back during the Pixar / Toy Story era) and these young kids can’t even wrap their heads around the amount of processing power it takes to render a game (in real-time). These kids are clueless and all they complain about is their “400 fps” or silly crap. They don’t understand that it’s going to take a RTX 7090Ti or RTX8090Ti to do what they want (at the FPS they want) at 4K (or even 8K) resolution and all they cry about is wanting better graphics quality and higher frame rates and you get one or the other (not both). Drop the graphics quality settings down, and you should improve your FPS, but these kids are constantly crying about FPS… but expect game developers to make games look like movies, and at the same time they want 400FPS like lunatics. It’s not going to happen for at least another two or three generations of graphics cards (probably RTX 60 series or 70 series). I think RTX 50 series will be an improvement, but too many young kids will want to “game at 8K” by then and are too foolish to understand that it takes FOUR TIMES the processing power (and they don’t want to use DLSS or frame generation) and it will take another 2-3 generations of hardware (die shrinks and smaller node manufacturing) just to get graphics cards that can even render at 8K… but these kids are clueless and blame game developers (and everyone else) like cry babies, because they can’t get the 400FPS (and photorealism) at insanely high resolutions (like 4K or 8K) without setting their RTX 4090’s or 5090’s on fire. Crazy kids. Game developers should be focusing more on game play (and story lines) and making games FUN to play, and worry less about photorealism and frame rates. Ignorant children will always cry about silly frame rates, and the human eye can’t see beyond 30fps.
I do agree during the “DOOM” era, we were amazed at 3D games (and what we thought were good graphics) and I do remember UT era. We were like pigs in sh!t to see 30fps! Melting our 3D graphics cards! But this younger generation is clueless. They think game developers are “stupid” and that everything is “magic”. They don’t understand you can either have “photorealism” OR performance (not both). DLSS/FSR frame generation is just a “stop gap” to keep kids happy until the hardware can catch up. But even then, it will NEVER catch up, because then kids will want to game at 8K! (Instead of 4K) and they don’t understand the hardware requirements AND these silly kids think they should be able to render these insane games (at 4K) on some old archaic legacy hardware (GTX 1080’s, RTX 2080’s, and even RTX 3060’s or 3070’s) and don’t understand that even a RTX 4090 isn’t enough and it will be at least another generation or two of graphics cards before we begin to see the frame rates that these kids want (for absolutely no reason other than to cry about frame rates). The human eye can’t see beyond 30FPS. Anything beyond that is just silly. But devs should be focusing more on stories and engaging story lines instead of FPS and insane graphics.

The Sharpening in the upscalers are way better than the old school AA solutions like TAA and FSAA. It's why Native is not a selling point today. DLSS Quality or Ultra quality drops resolution to 95% and uses the upscaling to sharpen the picture. DLAA Sharpens the same as upscalers but just at 100% resolution. DLAA is hands down the best AA solution on the market not my opinion but it's top dog if you have a 4000/3000 series card.. All pc parts last 3 to 5 years or less until you have to upgrade for same or better performance than you got it when it launched.the 3060 released 2020 to 2021 so 3 to 4 years if you have a 3060 or under upgrade unless you want to play the game with shit visuals. The 7900xt cab do 4k ultra but it's best at 1440p especially for super high frames.msube if the guy in the video tried a 1440p experience it would go better. Every game has their ups and downs I've been playing an enjoying the game honestly, obviously a 4090 shouldn't see those numbers in a game. I think ue5 is alot more demanding then people put it out to be. I think that's why even fortnite in ue5 a free to play game struggles at epic settings on ue5 wuth frames on 95 percent of cards.i think alot of people buy 4070tis thinking they will provide 4090 frames in optimized games which puts the delusion in their head that it should run faster. They target the high end parts first when optimizing on pc that's why people should play the game the way the developer intended because at least then any opinion formed is the least amount unfair or biased.
