    Love this knife.. I've been rocking it for the last 10 months now and it has done everything from stripping wires while I'm on duty as a network tech.. to butchering a pig for a new years BBQ, thank you for the sweet review that introduced me to this wonderful knife... keep up the good work

    I have had an OS0 Sweet now for years and love it! I bought it because of the Kershaw name, the ergos and price. After a few years of hard use it has held up well and the AUS6 is easy to sharpen, I have found it to hold up well. It is my favorite EDC, Kershaw makes so many great knives for the price.

    The review is spot on. This is a tough little knife. I've carried mine everyday, everywhere going on 4+ years now. It's taken everything I've thrown at it in stride. I've found it holds the edge quite well, the lock has remained tight. My only complaint is that the pocket clip can be prone to loosening with extended use as I don't think they loctite the screws(tiny little buggers!) due to being able to change the location of the clip depending on your preference of carry. I highly recommend this knife for EDC/utility carry.

    purchased this knife online after watching your review on 11/16, and received it yesterday. changed clip position for tip-up carry, and now I feel much safer when I'm delivering food! thanks nutnfancy!

    Thank you for your review nutnfancy. I am a 13 year old kid and you have introduced me into the knife community. I bought tons of knives that you have reviewed, but mostly the spydercos. Your endura review made me purchase all of the different colors of the ffg kind. The same goes for this ososweet. I bought five more kershaws because of this review. Thanks :)

    I have had both of those knives for a couple months now and love them both. The OSO sweet seems to be easier on the pocket and more ergonomic. So far the edge has been holding fine. I took the pocket clips off of both of them as I carry in a pocket loose. Nice review.

    thanks for this review immediatley went out and got one and i couldnt be happier... for the price its awesome, no blade play, holds the edge good, and its super tough ive dropped it like 10 times and used it for everything and its still opens great and is still pretty sharp.. thanks for the review it helped out a lot!!

    Picked up one of these the other day before I saw this review. Kershaw has upgraded the steel to 8Cr13MoV and adopted a hollow grind that only reaches about halfway to the spine. Still to be had for $20. Very pleased with it and it is riding in my pocket as I write this!

    This will be my EDC knife for non-work-in-the-office days. For that, I use a Leatherman Skeletool because i can get away with calling it a tool and not a weapon, especially when I can get a micro mini maglight in the nylon sheath with the tool. Excited to get this Kershaw. Hasn't arrived yet.

    Its when the manufacturere uses a round grinding wheel to grind the edge, creating an edge that is concave and thinner. A flat grind is produced by a flat belt-style grinder, producing a "chisel" type edge. Hope this help.

    Go for the K-Bar, its a great survival knife. It is a high-carbon steel, so it will rust, and it's hard to sharpen, but once it's sharp, the edge is there for the long haul. It's not the best shape for close combat, but like its nomenclature states it is USMC, it will adapt and overcome.

    @snoprog the one advantage to most of the kershaw speedsafe knives is that they can at least be opened with either hand due to the thru-the-handle-while-shut protrusion that duals as a blade guard.

    I tried this knife out at Cutlery Corner in Orem, UT a few months ago. I didn't buy it; it was kind-of overpriced there, but man did I love that blade! I still want to pick one up once I can justify the purchase.
    It's super fast deploying, really ergonomic, and that blade is... I'm just gonna say it, SEXY! This thing is drenched in the 2nd kind of cool (for me anyway). It's adequate for the 1st cool, not outstanding (slightly lacking, actually). But for cool #2, I'm in love!

    I actually had the sppedsafe mechanism on my oso sweet totally fail on me. I took it apart, and the torsion bar had broken in half. Kind of a bummer, because i really liked it as an edc knife. But Kershaw said they'd replace it no questions asked...

    I bought the new version of the Oso Sweet and an OD-2 at Sports Authority. I like my Oso but there's a few problems with it. First, after about an hour of just flipping it open and shut, the blade started to favor then rub one side of the liners and is slanted from pivot end to tip while folded. It's so bad that I have to force the blade left so it won't rub while folding so I can preserve the edge (8Cr13MoV BTW). The pivot screw is also loose and I don't have any tools to tighten it down with.

  • @sniper244
    @sniper244 15 лет назад

    Watch the liner lock on this knife. With it being so exposed, you will have to be careful not to disengage it while handling it. I teach bladed self defense. If you extract the blade after a stab, the propper way, with a twisting motion, you will cause the blade to close on you. I learned this the hard way, during stab practice.

    Nutn, AUS 6 by Kerhsaw is actually really good for what it is. Kershaw's AUS 6HC is even better by a significant margin. I have no issues with it, given the POU: EDC.

    Nutnfancy, just so you know, there is a newer model. This can be seen from a thicker liner and the flat spot on the blade is wider. I guess they had some things they wanted to fix. Thanks.

  • @JCTheSniper15
    @JCTheSniper15 14 лет назад

    I actually like the new one fine. It's only 4.2 ounces. Not a deal breaker in my opinion. They increased the thickness of the blade and the liners in the new one. I do prefer the old blade grind though. Not a fan of the new one. Still a great knife though, and I love mine.

  • @sniper244
    @sniper244 15 лет назад

    Try the CRKT M-16 if you like the assited opening of this blade. The CRKT has a little better steel, and it has a safety lock on the liner lock, which makes it less likely to close on you. Price is comparable as well. But leave it up to Nutn to find us the better bargain and still have some quality.

    Car Window!
    My personal test for edge retention is cutting cardboard until the bight of the blade is gone. Then, strop it on the edge of a car window a few times on each side. If the bight comes back, good steel; if not, junk!
    Never tried this with an AUS6 blade though. AUS8 from CRKT (M21-04) nice steel, 440C from Coast (Z-Frame) nice steel; personaly I've never had luck with any 420 or 440A stainless.

    @DefMunky75 I agree, I like the blade shape of the 1st gen Oso Sweet as well. That being said, I prefer the hollow grind of the 2nd gen and the better steel choice. If I could find the 1st gen, I think I'd buy that one too, cause I like them both, but as far as performance is concerned, I think the 2nd gen will perform slightly better.

    @timsatx i agree with all here, except the one i just bought is as sharp as my other two kershaws were when new. it slices through packaging like butter and it'll shave the hair off my arm easily. fortunately for you though even if you can't return it to the store for another one, you can just send it into kershaw and they'll sharpen it for free (you just pay for UPS or FEDEX shipping).

    @gabe562 Hollow grinding is a cutting grind that follows quadratic concave shaping. The idea is to make a very clean and precise cut and then quickly move material away from the bade. GENERALLY speaking, hollow grinding is great for chopping and precision cuts. In my opinion though, I think the best blade for chopping is a Saber or Compounded Bevel grind due to its strength. Nutnfancy loves Flat grinds though and I do have to agree with him too. Today's Flat grind knives are pretty stellar.

    Just a caveat for those who watch this video and decide to buy the Oso Sweet:
    There have been changes to the design since this video was created. The knife is now over 4 ounces (probably due to a thicker, more visible liner), there is hollow grinding (with a corresponding changes in blade cross section) and the steel has been changed from AUS-6 to 8Cr13MoV.
