- Harley Benton now has a PRO Series and the Amarok is one of the first guitars the present in that line. The specs are stunning and technically no other brand can compete with them, but how does it sound and how well does it play? Let's check it out!

Kids there is no reason anymore not to start a metal band, cheap good equipment everywhere. Rock your hearts out and keep metal alive
The problem is finding the band members 😥
You can also play Blues on these guitars ^^
im 18, ive made a heavy/power/glam metal record and published it, using harley bentons even XD

Didnt mention the stainless steel frets.
The bullies at HB want all my moneys.
srsly, how you do not mention stainless steel frets? are we sure they are there? the website doesn't mention them either
Francesco B. Says so on thomann, you could contact them and ask.
All 350/400 € + HB guitars have them on it
I meant to reply to Francesco B.
I picked up my B stock Amarok during the pandemic for around $350. I could feel the grit on the frets and it sat in the corner for about two months before I finally got around to polishing the frets and changing out the strings, now it's my favorite of my 20+ cheap guitars.
You’ve really upped your game on more modern playing styles, kudos! :)
I freakin' love this channel man! Sponsored content AND integrety... Easier said than done. In this case, done really well. Thanks for some awsome gear reviews.
With that pointy headstock it should be easy to keep people at least 6 feet away. But that beautiful through neck will just keep sucking them back in 🤘🏽
9/10 diamond wipes
one more point possible with a Floyd bridge??
Ordered the baritone in red awhile back. Can't wait to check it out. Be my first Harley benton.
When it comes to guitars, i always trust your advice 🖤
Thanks Henning. I now need antacid for all the GAS this episode gave me. In our next lot we are definitely asking HB for an Amarok Baritone to review. Amazing stuff from you as usual.
Nice Axe. If the selector switch is a problem, just loosen the securing nut and turn the switch in it`s mounting hole to an angle that suits you. Tighten up the nut, job done. 5 mins.
They are going for $420 now and the B stock are only $325! You can't beat that price.
Great video, as usual! Because of you I’m buying more and more Harley Bentons 😂😂😂
Same :D
Antti Geier it’s a plague
😂😂😂
I wish i had the space and Money. cst24 and fusion II here we go. and an ex84 for good measure.
Schönes Lied und das Solo einfach hammer 👌 man, meine Frau bringt mich um wenn der Postbote wieder klingelt!! Die hb's sind wahnsinnig gut geworden!
I don't get why people don't subscribe, I don't even like your reviews because I can't buy that stuff..( I'm from Brazil economy is going down my man ) and I'm subscribed haha It looks and sounds like amazing guitars.
I'm pretty interested in the baritone, cause I haven't had a baritone yet. Am looking forward to your video on that.
I plan to get one of these in a 7 string variant, the value is incredible for the hardware you get imo.
Looks like a perfect match to the Amp 1 Iridium Edition. Hoped that couple would show up in your test. Good test anyhow! Thanks!
Beautiful looking guitar!!! I wish the same finish came on the CST line of guitars. That quilted mat finish is majestic. If i had to nit pick a little, id say the inlays look a bit too basic for such a fancy looking guitar but the overall hardware thats on the guitar itself is pretty good. Its a well specc'd guitar
Isn't that a waterproof jacket with a hood..? Oh, hang on, that's an anorak..! :-)
Haaa i love the pun, fun fact the Amarok is named after the great wild artic wolf. Im definitely investing in one of these bad boys as soon as i get the budget together, i havnt been struck and as excited for an instrument like this in a long time. That red is so slick aswell!!
How do you change between the amps ? Did you use a Kemper ? What about cabs ? Verrryyyy curious...
keep up the good work and stay healthy

I'll be heading to Thomann after handing in my thesis next week to reward me with a new guitar. It's gonna be a 7-string as I want to dabble with extended range songs a bit more. I definitely like making djent/metal/prog music.
In regards to your statement at 22:30: do you really think there are no better 7 string guitars in the price range until 999€? I really wanted to get a multiscale model, so I was planning on checking out the Reaper 7 and the Cort KX500MS. But these Amaroks have me intrigued, as I like stainless steel frets a lot and all the other hardware seems to either match or trump the Cort and the Schecter for just 599€ except there's no multiscale model.
For down tuning while still having nice tension on the higher strings I think multiscale is pretty great but I'm not quite sure its 200-300€ greater ;)
Excited to see how these guitars fare when playing them.
Thanks so much for the video!
I am not sure there are better guitars in that price range... multiscale for under 1K is also tough to find.
@@EytschPi42 Yeah... There's basically those 2 and the Harley Benton models that are really entry-level.
But oh well, I'll see when I'm in Treppendorf.
I got the 7 string version last week. Unfortunately there were some major issues with this particular guitar: broken nut, a dent on the headstock, paint damage on one of the potis.
But thomann customer service was very friendly. They offered me to send it back or to provide me replacement parts and a discount. I decided to return the guitar. I hope you guys are more lucky than me :)
Edit: Apart from these issues the guitar made a solid impression with really nice features (locking tuners, tusq nut, active pickups...). The pickups are a little bit too hot and harsh for my taste. Would probably thrown in some duncans or fishmans.
Every single Amarok that's been reviewed has had at least 2 problems. I have a different HB which was sold as a B stock but was more like a D. They offered a partial refund and replacement parts but when I emailed in the parts I needed they refused to send them. Not cool. I bought another guitar from them since then and would still buy more, they are great value if you don't get one with issues.
@@xRepoUKx I got the DLX 7 fanfret last week, had a chipped headstock and some nasty fret marring. Polished the frets and they're ok, but they offered 50 euro partial refund. I was like come on, it was 45 euro to ship the thing. But it plays pretty well and sending back from the US as a result of shipping damage is a hassle, so we'll see.
I came here after watching Glenn unbox the guitar. And holy fuck, that playthrough of six feet apart kept me up for an hour until 4:30am just playing it on repeat. I needed this in my life ;-;
That song though!!! i bloody love it!!...and that guitar!!!
Nice axe man 🤘. Definitely on my wish list. Have been saving for a Solar but this looks nice dude. Haven't heard sludge grind core metal yet 🤔 🤣
I'm no Metalhead, more blues and rock. This Axe looks and sounds from another World. Looked at the Price😳 what Specs👍🏻 harley getting better and better and conquers every Genre🎸👍🏻 Rock on💯
You should get into Metal or try.
i Hope they will make a Floyd Rose version for these in the future :)
YES, YES, YESSSS!!!!
I'd also be up for that, provided it's not the cheapest Floyd. I'd be willing to pay a little extra for a good quality trem (and a relevant good setup).
@@Nasosdag The already have the fusions wich are cheaper and have the fr1000, so they would probably use those here too.
Yup, metal guitar but no trem option of any kind :-/
There are other trems,Gotoh,Wilkinson
Friend: Why does your face look melted?
Me: Oh you know just watched Henning Pauly testing guitars...
For what it appears you get for the money this model looks awesome.
😻OMG those kittens at the end! Oh, that’s a nice guitar but I really don’t need a new axe. I don’t. Really. I need a kitty.
Henning do you know if the Amarok guitars will come in lefty versions too? Loved the solo in the intro song!
Damn I am already signing along and I only heard it once in the video for health workers. Hell of a song!
haha... that was a different song.. you heard it in the pod go video
EytschPi42 well there you go. I am becoming a HP42 groupie.
Thomann apparently sold Harley Benton to VW so now there will be more guitars named after VW cars.
Prepare for the Strat-style Harley Benton Golf, Les Paul shaped Harley Benton Passat (also as R-line with fake exhaust pipes), more expensive Harley Benton Phaeton and all that.
🤪
Bought an Amarok EX7, the stainless steel fret ends were sharp though and hurting my finger.. I contacted Thoman, they gave me the option to send it back to Germany for free so they fix it, or I could find a local Luthier who can fix the frets, send them the receipt of repair (which was 70€) and they would reimbuse me.. Of course I chose the second option, their warranty options were amazing and really, whatever build related problem you may face, they are very fexible and creative into finding the easiest solution.. at least that was my experience. but keep in mind, not every luthier has the proper tools to work on stanless steel frets, I had to search a bit.
Holy fuck! That was some nice chops on that solo HP!
This guitar, for the specs and price it's amazing.
Henning you are a great rock guitarist really good song your playing there. Amarok sounds awesome a bit pricey but a really good design.
I am going out of my ever loving mind trying to decide on what guitar to buy! I haven't played guitar in YEARS (life got in the way and I quit for a long time) but I've been looking to get back into playing and I am in the market to buy a guitar preferably in the 600 to 800 dollar market (give or take). I've done some research over the last few months or so and I seem to have narrowed it down to a small handful of guitars. The Solar A2.6, The Schecter C-1, The Schecter Reaper 6, The Fender Player HSS, The PRS SE Custom 24, and most recently added to my list... this Harley Benton Amarok. I cannot for the life of me make up my mind! I tell ya, these days there are just so many good guitars to choose from! If you could give me any advice, tips, or suggestions to help me narrow down my choices, I would appreciate it! Thanks.
Solar is a solid guitar, but out of all of them I‘d go for the PRS SE
@@EytschPi42 Thanks for the feedback. Seriously, being as indecisive as I am, I sometimes need a push in the right direction when it comes to making up my mind. I will say I AM leaning towards the PRS SE Custom 24. That has been at the top of my list for awhile now.
Thank you, it is very pretty and good sound instrument!
I have to wait until September for mine. I'm choosing this over a new Solar, Ibanez, or Jackson.
Why? Because I haven't tried one yet.
The red is sexy, the green is even sexyerer 🤤. I don't need need a new guitar 🤤... I don't need a new guitar 🤤🤤🤤
Neither do I....oh fuck.
Don't do it. It only looks that good because all guitars look freakin' sexy in Hennings hands.
It's him, not the guitars.
you can not even buy them lol. always sold out
I guess shipping and production is not that fast these days... 😢😞... What can you do?!
I failed at that. ♥️
If I was looking in the price range, I'd easily get this over a chapman for one single reason. The headstock. I can't get past the hideous tele-like headstock they put on their modern super strat style guitars. They have a good headstock on the Ghostfret, so idk why they don't use that design. Same thing with the modern-looking V they have with the ugly, mismatched Flying V wide shovel headstock. If they put the Ghostfret headstock on their V's and super strats, I'd be interested.
Check out the ML-1 RS then..... its killer
I used to have neck thru Carvin back in the day. Moment I saw this guitar I ordered it. To be honest it is very good, but as its metal gtr obviously I play more the HB fusion as its more versatile. For those after a metal guitar look no further thought
at 9:08 you can see some weird tool marks on the upper frets. is it because of the lighting or are they really cutting in that deep into the fretboard? anyway, thanks for the infromative video! cleared up a lot of things for me. I'm just wondering, besides some of the higher quality hardware components, how solid and satisfying does the overall build quality of the guitar itself feel? like is it really comparable to 700-1000€ guitars or can you still feel that it kinda is cheaper made?
I had to send my baritone back. the intonation was impossible on the B string. I'll might get one in a year or so when they will sort that issue because it wasn't only my guitar with that problem. Beside this it's an amazing guitar to play
I heard about that issue on the first run, mine is fine though
Bought a 7 and could intonate low B only removing spring and almost maxing the saddle. And saddle is buzzing. Returning it to get separate 6 and BT guitars. Hopefully I will get lucky this time 😕
I already own a Harley Benton SC-Custom for a few years now and I'm still really happy with it. Great playability, comfortable action, solid pickups, quality tuners with a good ratio, overall solid craftsmanship. The only flaws it has are related to the finish. But we're talking minor stuff you'd see even on guitars in the 500+ EUR range. So I have absolutely no qualms buying another Harley Benton. The whole Pro Series thing is amazing. Indonesia is basically what "Made in Korea" was for Ibanez guitars in the early 2000s, quality-wise. So that's great. I don't know if I'll go with this particular model or actually with your Signature model. That one is pretty neat as well...
I also use the sc custom fr vb. It's been great so far.
But can I use it for wildly incompetent dad-rock? Why, yes I believe I can!!! Hugs from Canada 🇨🇦
If I'd been on the market for a metal axe, I'd go for an HB model. I owned a base Ibanez RG 3-series model (not GIO) - it had a 3 piece neck. Now, even the 4 series had a meagre one piece neck with a scarf joint and they feel cheap. That's why I cherish my first generation RGAs* - because they're better quality instruments than what you're getting today this side of the premium range. For the money, I don't think you can get a better instrument.
*One of them is Prestige TJCraft, but the rest are basic models of the era.
I purchased one of these from the Thomann US website two days ago for $485 + $62.79 shipping costs. Its telling me that it should arrive tomorrow. Now at first I thought that it must be coming from stock in the US. However, when I looked at the tracking information today, its shows it went from Frankfurt to Cologne and then on a flight to Philadelphia. If the delivery date of tomorrow is accurate, then these guys have really got their shipping act together. I mean three days from Germany to Florida, USA, Wow!
welcome to the 21th century :-D . 3 days is probably common lol
They must have thier ship together.
yes, I'd consider that guitar, if I was to play in a metal band... but then I'd also need that orange amp, it was my favorite sound.
and I don't care what "modern metal" (whatever that is) is supposed to sound like.
I like the aesthetics of this guitar but, am not into metal. How is this guitar for other genres?
You have to use your pinky or ringfinger to flick the vertical switch, it's very easy when you get the hang of it. I prefer it to the diagonal orientation.
"Grasping at flaws"...I gotta admit, that was very clever!
I love the look of offset dots... i'm used to them on my Corts.
Chris Cuthbertson how do you rate the Cort guitars mate as I’ve never played one
nice ! you mention that if we use your link to Thomann you can get credit for our purchases. Fine, however I am in USA and your link goes to a German page. Anyway I can purchase a Amarok guitar ( delivered to USA) and give you some credit ??
Henning you could make a stick sound freakin awesome. I love your guitar skills, I wish I was just half as good as you. That’s a very nice Harley Benton guitar too, I think I might just haft to buy me one of those.
If this model has a floyd ver. I definately buy both☺
Informative, funny and great as always. I'd like to maybe share a little remark with you. I believe it's time we stop saying "oh, its a 500 euros guitar we can't expect this or that". I think that generally this doesn't help us consumers (buyers) and it enables companies to make unnecessary mistakes and get away with them. 500 euros is still a lot of money and we are no longer in e.g. 60s where you had 3 guitar companies dominating the market. Competition is really high, there are literally hundreds of brands making guitars today and we should expect to get as amazing instruments as possible for this and/or any other price tag. Cheers
I agree but a guitar with these specs is just incredible for the price.
"six feet apart" - it may be the last few years we've all been through, but the lyrics fit with the pandemic rather well.
Anyway, I'm seriously considering getting an Amarok 7 (left handed). They look and sound really good to me.
My dream metal guitar. And the seven string for the Lacuna Coil stuff.
I have a green 6 string B stock on the way. The last one they had on the website. Cannot wait! My first go at a HB B stock. Should be interesting.
I'm jealous, I'm b-stock hunting for these everyday because new ones won't be in until mid-august
That truss rod dial is awesome.
I bookmarked that Amarok page like a month ago... I browse it every single day! I am trying to find an excuse to get one. This is making it so much difficult! Thanks Mr. H!
you only live once - THAT is a valid excuse.......................(hope to help)
@@RaxFx Yes!! I'll let my wife know! I'll get back to you later with her answer. Thanks for the solidarity!
@@droidfan I'm in a similar situation... as long guitars get played, keep you out of the way and don't collect dust they're "legal" - obviously the financial situation has to permit the luxury
RaxFx I think she said yes? I mean, she said “Do Whatever You Want!” and left...
@@droidfan sounds familiar- go for it but make sure to cover up with an evening out or catching up with chores :)
The 7 string version is the one I likely would spend my money on. I've been hesitant on getting a 7 string. But for the money it's too good to pass up.
How is it?
It's bluetooth and wireless enable & can be played through your smart phone - in tech circles it's referred to as the iAmarok the classic Indie version with similar connectivity will be marketed as iAmanisland.
Love the guitar. Love the price even more.
Great review - I can't really play metal, but at the same time, I do not have a real metal axe - I should get one of these. I would have loved to have seen more of the blue flamed barytone.
Totally off-topic: Could you review or give an opinion on your KS Digital monitors (is it C5s or C8s?)? I have been looking at those, and there are hardly any good reviews out there.
there will be a baritone review... the ksd 5s are the best speakers I ever had... you can’t go wrong!
@@EytschPi42 Thanks - It's tempting - do you play guitar over the 5s or are they 'just' for mixing? When I play guitar, I often prefer a bigger driver, so I was mostly looking at the 8s
My Guitars range from 7.6 lb to 9.6 so 8.8 is considerable - thanks for mentioning that. I’m a stand up player.
I find it interesting that Harley Benton decided to put an actual battery compartment on a 500€ guitar, while ESP LTD keeps using those 2 screws plates on their Deluxe and Signature line.
Hey Harley Benton! WOULD BE NICE IF YOU COULD ACTUALLY BUY ONE!!!!!!
Let's appreciate that even if it's a metal guitar, they didn't stick a Floyd rose there. The shape kinda reminds me to an Ibanez Kiko Loureiro used to play.
I think that the closest competitors are are Schecter, ir consider that you are paying more for the consistency and that they can offer more models and different features, specially for lefties. I love Ibanez but I think they are falling in the Gibson, Fender habit of charging more for a name in the headstock, just a little bit (nobody beats Gibson on that anyway)
What's wrong with having a Floyd Rose. It'll actually be good to have few variants with Floyd Rose.
TheNocturnalEvil floyd rose are perfect, for being out of tune
@@TheNocturnalEvil I guess true FR costs too much for the price range of this guitar. Cheap FR copy would spoil the overall impression of the guitar. However, you are right - FR option would be good.
Nice review, how much does it weight ?
I say that in the video
@@EytschPi42 Damn, I missed that, a usually read specs of guitar online and skip them during review videos, and also reviewers almost never talk about weigh, you're great!
My Amarok 6 weights 3.1 kg
OK just got mine lets see seems to be my solution for now ! These pickups are lit!
man, that intro song, if it was late 80s or early 90s...🤩😍🥰
This particular Amarok has a beautiful finish! Imo this IS the best HB has to offer to date! Im not a fan of the upside down headstock or active pups but they do serve a valid purpose. 👍🤟
For me guitar needs to have nice, clean tone to even think about buying.Modern guitar like Ibanez, Solar,Chapman they have clean tone a bit muddy. This guitar has nice , clean tone.
Hi, only I wanna say you that the RUclips Counter behind of you needs an update, great video!
Damn, what a great song well played❤❤❤
Henning, weißt du, ob es von der Amarok-serie auch eine 7string Baritonvariante geben wird ?
nicht das ich weiss
Henning, would buy this and then spend the money after to upgrade? IE : the fret leveling and intonations? I want to try the 7 string!
honestly, I don't see any reason to upgrade anything here!
Thank you, as I've said in the past "I very much value your opinion and knowledge !"
This isnt alot more than the fusion stuff right though? Is it alot better quality? The fusions are already more than double some of the others right.
I have one fusion II. I think the Amarok due to the neck, higher output pickups and general design is more suited to the metal player. So, IMO Fusion II is more versatile than this
Fusions are €300-400, Amaroks €500-600. €200 in specs can make a big difference in this range.
@@Broccoli_Highkicks Im looking now in Australian dollars and the cost difference between the FR models and the Amarok is 78 Aud (about 45 Euro) the non FR models are only about 40 Euro cheaper than that. Unless Am I missing something but the Amaroks use EMGs which take most of price difference into equation (Roswell pickups are significantly cheaper) so minus the pickups they cost the same roughly.
@@Broccoli_Highkicks fusions are bolt on necks. You can save a lot manufacturing money by doing so, and it's better too if you wanna swap the neck due to different reasons. I bought my fusion for 415 euros so.... Yeah. You pay the paint job too.
My opinion is that it depends of your taste. If you're a metal guy, go ahead buy the Amarok.
I've played a lot of guitars including Fender American Standards and Gibson Custom. My fusion is super versatile compared to those type of the guitars
@@alanbitts thanks! I don't really own at high gain guitars (an lp copy but a but thick for high gain) I think the fusion is more up my ally look more classic metal and prog metal not djent. I tend to replace pick ups anyway in all my guitars.
is better Harley Benton Fusion-III EMG HT Roasted SBK or this one?
12:05 -> Mouthgoulasch :-) Well the most annoying fact is that you can't get it. Another fact is, I got my HB Fusion-II EB OCT (my new wifi password btw.) last Friday :-) I will check back on that in about half a year I think. Absolutely amazing guitar that I'd love to have in my guitar family\o/
This looks very much like an Chapman ML-1 Pro. Are both made in the same factory?
The ML1 pro is made in Korea and has a solid maple top
Great guitars in sound and look. And also they are called like one of the best album of Mike Oldfield: AMAROK :)
AMAROK is also a Volkswagen pickup truck ;)
It has stainless steel frets too!
How does the guitar handle clean sound?
Good job. Love your content.
So they're just like Cort KX and X series guitars.
I was thinking the same thing
Yes. But cheaper. But without a Trem system.
i was thinking the same thing, saw this in the videos description "The specs are stunning and technically no other brand can compete with them" ..i know he's being paid to make this video...but come on.
like let's be real, HB are great guitars FOR THE MONEY, but to say that no other brand can compete is eehhhhh a bit out there man....i get annoyed when people overstate things, again, i like HB, i think they're good for what they cost but again for what they cost. there's much better out there if you want to pay for it...sometimes within a few hundred.
@@rantional8180 Over here in the States we have Agile guitars. Their Interceptor and Intrepid series guitars are top tier guitars in their price range. They even make neck-through Les Paul style guitars. Their Cepheus passive pickups sound as good as those Lundgren M series pickups.
So the whole thing about no brand can compete with Harley Benton ain't right.
@@rantional8180 i cna see the similarity, but what breaks the deal with the Cort KX models is the scale length. They just dont fit the big picture imo. Beside that, they are verysexy guitars too. not sure if the frets are stainless steel at Cort.
Btw, how was the fret job on the ones you tried, HP?
Nice Guitar.. Thanks HP.
Good jam today HP! 😜
With all the stuff for the price i only would be worried about the finish lasting and the hardware being well fitted into the body
This or a Schecter Omen Elite-6? (Will be my second guitar)
Beautifull guitar solo
I love the variety of affordable good/great gear now a days. My bank account does not share the same sentiment.....
Ha ! Yes ! I keep buying HB'S that are inspired by big brand guitars that I have. I got the sc custom fr emg and I got the fusion t emg. This guitar is completely inspired by a Schecter c1 platinum so when you said the blue one is a baritone 👍 I have a c1 platinum and I want this guitar so if I got the baritone it would justify it in my brain 🤣🎸🤘🍻🤣
I'm a Harley Benton addict , I have 8 and getting more
What are your thoughts on the cort x500 same price emg 81-85 please also tell something about that
Would it be too difficult to try and drop a push/pull coil tap into these?
