@@agufish I purchased an sc custom. Very budget oriented and good for it's price. It came with a lot of cosmetic flaws that were very visible to the naked eye and if the " QC by John " sticker had any truth to it, the guitar would not have shipped out. I saw other reviews of the Amarok wit even worse flaws than mine, but the price was double of my sc custom. Since you were part of the design, can you comment on why HB puts obviously fake QC tags, when they obviously have not checked what they ship? Yes they are covered by warranty but I don't think they would warranty poor appearance especially with international orders.
If HB can build a guitar spec'd this well in the ~$500 range, I kind of want to see how far out of the park they would knock it if they started competing in the ~$1000 range. I'm sure they would have to put a different brand name on them to keep people from losing their minds at the thought of a thousand dollar HB, but I also want to hear the cry babies do their thing.
I don’t think they would have to I think they should just really focus on the quality control on this guitar until their rep is good and then knock out the 1000 guitar

Heres my 2 cents from playing guitar for 16 years now. I currently have 14 guitars in my collection but have at least owned/cycled at least 50 of them from various price points. The biggest problem with guitars are fret edges. If the frets were worked on a humid environment, the wood absorbs humidity in the air. By the time it ships to your house everything has changed, especially if you live in a dry desert environment. By that time the fretboard has shrunk and it will expose the frets and feel like a cheese grater on your hands. It happened to my EBMM JP11. Ive also played cheap priced guitars with perfect fretwork. So that’s something that is always a toss up. Luckily ive learned to work on my guitars over the last few years and dont need to rely on a tech to get things right. I would say the most important part of buying a guitar is the construction or things you cant change like ie.(wood choices, scale length, how the neck is fitted whether its a bolt on, neck thru or glued on) everything else like hardware, electronics aesthetics can be modified to the users preference. That being said, not many people know how to work on their guitars. If you dont believe me, just look at guitars centers. People take their instruments to have their strings changed because they don’t know how to do it themselves. Knowing that, maybe companies should invest more in quality control because the people that dont know how to work on guitars will automatically stay away from a brand whom they had a bad experience with. I know I did my first years
To be fair, Harley benton have been upping their game more and more recently. Kudos to them, can't wait to see what they have up their sleeves in the future.....
Can you put a finger on what was the problem? Botched fretjob or messed up scale or something? That's interesting since some things can be fixed or might just be a mondays model, I might give it a shot. The definet up of being in Europe: if Thomann sends you a faulty model, they exchange them really often for a flawless one over the course of days after you sent them back. They have the. best. Customer support I ever came across.
There was an issue with the bridge not centered and it seems like I was not the only one. I would say that they will rectify this on the next batch. A shame as it is a great guitar
I have returned my Amarok-7, because 7th string was sharp by 35 cents on 24th fret, after lot's of trial and error I got it to be sharp by 5-10 cents in B Std. For Drop A I had to remove the spring. But I had some strange buzz from the saddle. Also 25.5" with .59 - a bit floppy, so I decided to replace 7 string with Amarok-6 and Amarok-BT. I hope they have fixed the intonation problem. Or I will need to return guitar again and try Ibanez RGIB21 baritone.. But I really like how Amarok sits in hand, looks and plays.
got my Amarok-BT last week. Better QC than squier, epiphone, guild and gretsch in the "under 1K Range". The HB was smoothly playable out of the Box and they StringHeight was totally ok for a Baritone - Love it!
Some say he never skimps on the price of a bespoke umbrella. And the the APD quit because he can drive out the riffraff with a deftly played power chord. All we know is, he's called Der Fish!
Just got mine yesterday after 2 months of shipping. I think they sent me a B-stock. There's a very noticeable hole in the headstock where they missed when drilling for the tuners a few other blemishes as well as the scraping pots making them hard to turn. Other than that, it plays GREAT! I love it! Thomann's customer service was pretty lackluster though.
Emgs retroactives have taken a massive hit by the fishman craze. They flew so far under the radar since their release years ago and now EMG seems to be somewhat dumping them so more budget focussed guitars like the amarok and the absolute sick crate equivalent to it got them.
@@lashedandscorned tone is of course subjective but the market ultimately determines the course of products and Fishman is undoubtedly taking control of the active pickup market
I love mine now, but out of the box the frets were far from smooth, you could feel the grit on them when doing bends. It sat in the corner for a few months before I finally took the time to polish the frets, what a difference it made, now it's one of my favorite guitars in my collection of 24 cheap ones.
I do respect Thomann for trying these things. This is actually mad specs to the price... However for me the difference between alot of these budget guitars and mid range ones is the quality of the neck and tuning/intonation accuracy. Some times no amount of tweaking fixes it because its just poorly built so... if you can prove 15th fret stays intune same as fret one... I'll be impressed. Pickups I can replace. But if it plays like ass and has no tuning stability its no use to me.
i bought the cheapest HB st-20 (£79) and it stays in tune as much as my Gretsch 5230t electromatic does...i changed the original strings for Ernie ball 'slinky' ones though, love them both and am looking to buy the amorok due to how good the HB cheapest one is :D I am not saying the pick ups are brill on the st-20 compared to the Gretsch, but for the price they are not bad :) Edit: Due to ordering and receiving a PG spark 40 amp :D ( UK, ordered on the 27th sept 2020 delivered 16th oct! Hey, so...you think you could tweak some ears over at HB to make something with a humbucker in the bridge and a single coil in the neck? I really don't understand why a simple 2 pickup HS setup that won't utterly decimate my bank account is so damn hard to find...

If Harley Benton were smart, they’d have a USA distribution warehouse. Nobody wants to wait months for a guitar . Better yet, get in bed with GC. They’d sell a ton of the lower price point guitars. But then they’d have to set up camp in the USA for logistics and support. But this could easily be streamlined. Better yet, just give me a job at Harley Benton and I’ll make shit happen! I was born in Germany, so I understand the language pretty well too👊🏻
Just FYI still need to do a Dean Cadillac. It’s the perfect 30 year old boomer guitar!! What other guitar is perfectly suited for playing while mowing the lawn and drinking Monster?

I have an explorer since I was a beginner, nowadays I'm playing in a band and it's not very comfortable to move it from home to the band's place, so I'd suggest a LP-style or a superstrat
@Agufish.... hey dude fan of the channel. I actually bought a Harley Benton and it was alright but those looking for a good guitar thats under $700 AUD go and get a Fender Squire Contemporary HH active strat. This channel did a review and it is far better than this and any guitar in its price range. i bought mine for 600 AUD and i have had no issues at all and also it has a floyd rose and it isnt actually shite haha. Once again thanks Agufish for your awesome vids and actually helping me buy my first guitar :)
I am very, VERY interested in a red or blue 7 (or both, why deny it...). But I am glad I held out on the first run, as every review did find some flaws, which Thomann can definitely iron out for future batches. The flaws are not deal breakers, but they should not be hard to fix at the source. This will keep the customers happy and make the line a success in the long run.
Hello Hunter, keep up the great work. I have been watching your vids for a few years now, and think you have some brutal breakdowns in your songs you write! And your that kind of person that is a pleasure to watch and listen to. Btw, that black blue burst Harley is sweeeet!!
You guys did a fantastic job on these guitars. Unbeatable specs for the money. 👍 I'm going to receive my Amarok-6 BKRD today - and I really hope it's a good one without issues. I'm saying this because it seems like there have been some QC issues in the beginning, but I hope they have been fixed now. happy NGD to me 😉
Patrick Keenan go for it - I put EMG fat 55 retroactives in an SG clone and love them. Sound really good. Have a set of fishman fluence in a different guitar and love them both.
The hot 70s in this guitar are awful. I am looking around to see if someone has done a swap to passives. When I swap them out I will give you the pickups and wiring if you want them. They are the worst pickups I have ever used.
I'd like to own one of these just cuz it looks sweet and would be a good addition to have an affordable backup to higher priced guitars in the arsenal.
I ordered a fusion they deliver it 3weeks late but i can switch it to this one used for the same price... And its available now. Not sure what to do because i really like the roasted neck on the fusion i do play mostly metal however i like Floyd rose and i also play SRV/hendrix from time to time🤔 any advice?
They do look really nice! I don't know much about these but do they come in left handed? The reason I'm asking is because my left handed friend is looking for a guitar like this, but 7 string and left of course.
I feel like it says a lot when a signature player is shipped a guitar with blemishes, scratchy tone pots and sharp frets... I really would love to try one myself, but I have a really hard time accepting the wait times to get something that apparently didn't go through QC.
I ordered an in stock guitar from HB April 4th and still haven.t got it. They say it in US Customs and USPS tracking number says it's been there for over six weeks so I contacted Customs and they said that no guitar with that tracking number has ever been there. As much as I like Harley Benton I'm pretty much done with them
dude were in pandemic shipping in the US probs fuckin crazy rn have some patience, just because its in stock doesn't mean it will arrive quicker just means they can ship one out to you in the next shipment blame the postal service not HB.
Has anyone in the USA ordered from Thomann since they've changed their USA shipping process. Faster delivery (says 3 day UPS shipping), but the shipping cost has gone up a lot and not a flat rate anymore. Shipping cost may still be cheaper then normal for overseas, but the I've resisted reordering guitars because my first experience with delivery wasn't the best. Anyone had any problems with the new delivery system?
I ordered a guitar on May 14, it made it to Customs in Frankfurt the next day. It hasn’t moved or had an update since then. I wouldn’t count on getting anything to the US fast from Thomann right now.
I have a serious eye on this babe...I feel an order coming soon :) just ordered a PG spark amp...in a queue so not getting shipped to the UK until 12 oct, fingers crossed lol :D
not 100 percent sure this is the right place to ask, but oh wells! i would love to hear hunter's thoughts on the SC-1000 (harley benton eclipse). possibly even a comparison between the SC-1000 and a legit ESP/EII
Dude, can you convince Thomann to bring back that 7 string single cut they had a year or 2 ago? I didn't get a chance to get one, but they looked sick af!!
Apparently they were incredibly difficult to get good QC on lol. Half the containers sometimes had to be sold as “deco” units, so I’m not sure how willing they are to try again, but I’ll ask!
I don't understand any English but I liked the guitar tell me is it worth buying I like this one too. ibanez rg421hpam-abl which one would be right choice sorry my english i used translator thank you
Yo Hunter. So like you, I'm more of a single cut guy. Any chance they'll do an Amarok style single cut? I love the finishes, especially the blue/blackburst, and would love to see it in a different style. Possibly a baratone option too... \m/
2 thoughts: I get what you were trying to do with these guitars, but I still think you incorporated unnecessary features that bloated the price. The people buying these guitars wont really benefit from glow in the dark inlays and neck through construction. Everyone says they will, but realistically, I don't think people buying budget metal guitars are gonna see a difference in sustain and I highly doubt the majority of them are live players. Get a bolt on neck, honestly just remove inlays altogether, knock 100$ off those babys and you have the best priced beginner metal guitars around. I mean no offense, but I don't think people are buying Harley Bentons for any frivolous reason. They want to save money, end of story. Which leads to the issue of shipping to NA: the price increase makes none of these guitars worth it. I *think* there would be enough demand for Thomann to figure out a deal with a major chain or something, because adding 100-200$ for shipping means, without exaggeration, that you can simply find a better option for the price in every single name brand. For example, Getting an Amarok would cost me 800CAD. The models I can get locally for that price are just superior, and I can see them and try them pre-purchase. I don't know if Thomann even cares about the NA market, so Id so they are only viable for the European market right now. Even so, I think taking a step back and realizing that someone purchasing 500-600 dollar guitar doesn't need some of these things (glow in the dark stickers and a 1 second sustain difference over probably dozens of effects and compression) because realistically, he'd be buying an 800$ guitar
This is a great point. I appreciate that the guitars are "specced out" but as a home-based player, some of the specs seem like wasted value (ie I'd have preferred a less expensive item without the superfluous features.) The last Harley Benton guitar that I purchased (which I love by the way), took 6 weeks to arrive. If there had been an issue and I needed a replacement, it could have taken another 12 weeks return it and receive the replacement. I'm willing to risk that timeframe for a $200 guitar, but for $600? No way, I'd stick with a domestic retailer.
I completely agree, but i guess the guitar has to have some cool factors about it, and the idea kinda is to have a good base (nicely constructed body, nut, tuners etc) so you can put different pickups and whatever you want, so thats where the neck through comes in i guess. I do agree that the inlays are a gimmick. But you do have to consider that Thomman is european, so shipping costs will be higher. Yous in america already have cool ass guitar companies, let the europeans have one too
The point is, can you get a guitar with these features, built in Indonesia, at that price range? I own a few guitars, of varying cost / value. At that price, I can get a chinese made Jackson or a cheaper Ibanez. Neither would have these features. Unless there's a soloist at that price point, I'm not sure. I am in the market for a guitar I can leave at our rented rehearsal space and take to gigs as a backup. This one is the clear winner and miles ahead of any other brand in terms of features at this price. Then again, I'm from Europe. But I think the point still stands for guitars that are 700 euros, let alone 500. EDIT: Also, stainless steel frets.
like the materials it's made of and was interested, but at ten plus pounds, no thanks! Would love to see this model in a super strat style with 22 frets and , at most, around eight Lbs.

How do you fix the problem of the knobs scraping the side of the body
Where can I buy your signature? Can't find it on Thomann
I was born in Germany, so I understand the language pretty well too👊🏻
Ear scratch eye/hand coordination... didn't miss a beat and dog happy! Well done!
Just FYI still need to do a Dean Cadillac. It’s the perfect 30 year old boomer guitar!! What other guitar is perfectly suited for playing while mowing the lawn and drinking Monster?
fuck me, I just turned 28 last Wednesday. Is it my time already?
Chapman ML1 Pro with Seymour Duncan pickups £849..
Harley Benton Amarok-6 BKNT with EMG pickups from £399.
I like the Seymour Duncans but, you would be crazy to buy the Chapman!
Hunter what has happened to the dullahans? There is one new model available but the other two are now gone, I wanted to buy one :(
Nice video :)
Im a beginner and Id like some help, I’d like to play metal, etc... and idk if i buy the HB SC-1000 or the EX-84 Modern ? Which one suits the best a newb and which one will « last » longer plz?
Kinda hoping they do a rosewell version so I could swap them with fishman
I'm going to receive my Amarok-6 BKRD today - and I really hope it's a good one without issues. I'm saying this because it seems like there have been some QC issues in the beginning, but I hope they have been fixed now. happy NGD to me 😉
Hey , I am about to order the same guitar. Did it live up to expectations ?
@@RamiRouhana Yes, I love it! 👍
By any chance, do you have information about left-hanfed versions of Amaroks ?
Now you've got me interested in EMG RetroActives......
Patrick Keenan go for it - I put EMG fat 55 retroactives in an SG clone and love them. Sound really good. Have a set of fishman fluence in a different guitar and love them both.
I used to have the super 77 set and they were fantastic
The hot 70s in this guitar are awful. I am looking around to see if someone has done a swap to passives. When I swap them out I will give you the pickups and wiring if you want them. They are the worst pickups I have ever used.
I think I've just seen my first Harley Benton 😂 great video dude, keep up the good work!
Awesome sounding pick ups, never heard of them before
Do 81/85s, Blackouts or similar sized pickups fit in it?
I'd like to own one of these just cuz it looks sweet and would be a good addition to have an affordable backup to higher priced guitars in the arsenal.
I ordered a fusion they deliver it 3weeks late but i can switch it to this one used for the same price... And its available now. Not sure what to do because i really like the roasted neck on the fusion i do play mostly metal however i like Floyd rose and i also play SRV/hendrix from time to time🤔 any advice?
Hi, thank you for the review. Can you say anything about the string spacing (standard/F) of the Amarok 6? Thank you in advance!
Cort's higher end x series kx series and cr series come with emg retroactives as well and they are priced mostly lesser than or equal to the amarok
Yeah but they are corts
I have never played a schecter before, So is that neck similar to a Jackson?
They do look really nice!
I don't know much about these but do they come in left handed?
The reason I'm asking is because my left handed friend is looking for a guitar like this, but 7 string and left of course.
I might pull the trigger on an Amarok 7! I´m really considering going for A GREEN one :)
gauge strings and tunning of your demo?¿ stock?
Not at all an EMG fan but these sound really nice! It was a good decision to use them
The octave part while petting Pringles really bring everything together for me, the Goodest boi😂
I feel like it says a lot when a signature player is shipped a guitar with blemishes, scratchy tone pots and sharp frets...
I really would love to try one myself, but I have a really hard time accepting the wait times to get something that apparently didn't go through QC.
Brother can you compare this to a cort kx500 etched seems to be the perfect comparison great looks great specs and affordable
Is it versatile (for blues or rock) or only dedicated to metal ?
Any single cut concepts you've worked on coming our way anytime soon?
Honestly, no idea. They don’t tell me shit. Had no idea the new Dullahan product page was going up for preorder 😂
@@agufish so then you did work on some single cuts.... Yes!
I get the too compressed comparisson. Ib buy both. Some songs would benefit from compressed tones...
I ordered an in stock guitar from HB April 4th and still haven.t got it. They say it in US Customs and USPS tracking number says it's been there for over six weeks so I contacted Customs and they said that no guitar with that tracking number has ever been there. As much as I like Harley Benton I'm pretty much done with them
dude were in pandemic shipping in the US probs fuckin crazy rn have some patience, just because its in stock doesn't mean it will arrive quicker just means they can ship one out to you in the next shipment blame the postal service not HB.
did you add a string tree? if so what is it?
hi can you review a danelectro?, i like to see how do they do in metal
Is there a particular reason Harley Benton decided to use pick ups with a ceramic magnet in one, and an alnico in the other?
Its a high quality Ceramic (like Brian Mays pickups), most metal guitars use ceramic pickups for higher output.
If EMG are not in there. It will be more affordable and great project flat form.
Waiting for Floyed style trem for this.
Mindless chugs you say? Got ya covered there my man, my specialty! (cries) :)
I have a serious eye on this babe...I feel an order coming soon :)
just ordered a PG spark amp...in a queue so not getting shipped to the UK until 12 oct, fingers crossed lol :D
not 100 percent sure this is the right place to ask, but oh wells!
i would love to hear hunter's thoughts on the SC-1000 (harley benton eclipse). possibly even a comparison between the SC-1000 and a legit ESP/EII
Is better solar guitar or this HB ?
I don't understand any English
but I liked the guitar
tell me is it worth buying
I like this one too. ibanez rg421hpam-abl
which one would be right choice
sorry my english i used translator
thank you
the pickups sound HUGE
11:05 did something crawl over your camera?
Oh that’s Koshi, my cat lol
When are we seeing the winners for that second fusion t contest?
Also the EMG 70 is pretty dope
if they keep this up and expand to more region of the world, they will definitely stand well to the competition
Yo Hunter. So like you, I'm more of a single cut guy. Any chance they'll do an Amarok style single cut? I love the finishes, especially the blue/blackburst, and would love to see it in a different style. Possibly a baratone option too... \m/
Hot 70 Bridge = better for high gain
EMG 81 Bridge = better for Wonderwall (I never thought I would be saying that about an EMG humbucking pickup)
How many times did you almost smack your pooch with your picking hand?
I wish I could have gotten your signature. :(

I get what you were trying to do with these guitars, but I still think you incorporated unnecessary features that bloated the price.
I appreciate that the guitars are "specced out" but as a home-based player, some of the specs seem like wasted value (ie I'd have preferred a less expensive item without the superfluous features.)
The last Harley Benton guitar that I purchased (which I love by the way), took 6 weeks to arrive.
What if i want an 800$ guitar but i don't have 800$.
@@kateslate3228 then you should wait and not settle. At any price point.
This guitar reminds me of the Agile Interceptor. You should try one of those. They are GREAT
like the materials it's made of and was interested, but at ten plus pounds, no thanks! Would love to see this model in a super strat style with 22 frets and , at most, around eight Lbs.
Why does the guitar body resembles exactly as the Cort X series?
I dunno, maybe because it's the most generic carved-top super strat shape ever?
@@agufish are these guitars made in Indonesia? I mean Harley Benton
@@mubdihazarika3716 yeah im pretty sure the Amaroks are built using the Cort factory there (they might even be the same guitar just with some changes)
