Excellent explanation, thank you! I'm having issues with mine so this gives me something to go with when I work on it in the spring.

Through my ongoing experience with one of these, it's a simple system, that works well in theory. In practice, it's a disaster with so many points of failure, it's really kinda sad. The vacuum port to the diaphragm can be clogged by a microscopic amounts of dirt or goo.

It's garbage. The briggs autochoke works so much better. I'd much rather push a primer bulb twice than have to rely on this contraption.

@@joemilton7552 this is what happens when you let marketing people run the design process. It's different, it's a selling point, it's patentable, but it's expensive, complex and unreliable. The primer bulb works, the 35 year old Briggs heat choke and vacuum diaphragm, eh. I'd rather have the primer or a manual choke.
That said, I did get this Rube Goldberg contraption to work....for now.

Any way you can help me. Exact same set up slightly different issue. I am a tech but having some issue I'm not familiar with. Assuming a fuel or air issue.

I would be very grateful if you can tell me which of these two parts (the automatic choke and the vacum) stops working more frequently and where can I get the replacement? thanks for your help

Not sure on these, but I would guess the thermal actuator.
