Personally I adore the accuracy and the fact that we now have some variety when it comes to these vehicles. That being said, I really miss when AT-STs had properly articulated legs; as nice and accurate as this model is the posing for it is atrocious.
Yeah it started with the AT-DP in 2015 and none of the walkers since then have had movable legs. (Although tbh the ones before that were pretty limited as well)
Agreed on the posability, however I think it might be more down to balance of weight and such than the legs. The old 2007 AT-ST had issues with overbalancing due to being top heavy.
I've somehow managed to miss out on the prior AT-ST's, not sure why but I just never saw them on the shelf here - definitely going to grab one of these even if I have to shop on-line to get one.
One of my all time favorite things Lego ever did was the Walmart exclusive bundle set with this set and a snow trooper battle pack (2021 battle pack) together only for 50 bucks so technically you get a free battle pack
The 40th anniversary/playscale one will do just fine. I personally think UCS ATAT is overrated it's not in the same league as the Falcon or Star Destroyer
Just got this set to pair with my snow speeder; I will display them as having a mini battle, with the snow speeder flighting toward the AT-ST. The snow Chewy, rebel trooper, and probe droid was just a nice bonus. I will probably have them battling it out on my desk 🙂
DO you know how many times I asked myself as a kid, "why is there no where to put my guys weapon in his vehicle!?!?" I hated it so much. This is amazing. People my age that probably had these same feelings as a kid are designing the legos now and it shows!

And we get no stickers but printed pieces?? Is LEGO going back up with their quality? The only decorated parts are the 2 2x2 printed round tiles with a hole in the middle and the standard Star Wars printed 1x2 cheese slope. Both of these are very common parts and not unique to this set in the slightest. Granted it’s still nice to not have to worry about sticker application, but don’t make the lack of stickers fool you into thinking we are getting a bunch of unique or at least uncommon printed parts.
The first set in recent years that I can confidently say is well done. I'm quite certain that it could be modded with minimal effort to look more like a regular/Endor AT-ST variant, although I must say this Hoth variant is really starting to grow on me.
Really liking this set, i do understand your "limited use" argument but the same could be said about the AT-ST Raider and i'd dare to say that we all bought one anyway. The only place that i feel that Lego have cheaped out is the legs, they could have dressed them a bit more with plating on the Technic beams, otherwise it's darn near perfect! Thanks for showing us!
I really like this AT-ST. Not only is the price very good for a lego set but I also think it looks great. The minifigs are good as well. This by lego is a surprise but a welcome one.

This is easily my favorite ATST Lego has made, better feet detail, awesome pilot minifig, probe droid, and cannons. To me the most underrated display method of this set is to create a Hoth Imperial Patrol with several snow troopers from the battle pack and the pilot peering out from the cockpit. With the probe droid as recon.
When my dad was growing up he had Kenner action figs and vehicles some of which like the at st were used with a bit of cgi and he had the hoth at st and I now own it and this Lego set is very accurate
6:29 You could probably get away with using this in other mocs, since there are so many different versions of the AT ST, at least in legends. It also looks similar to the AT ST in the original Battlefront 3 trailer. I'd just open the eyes and make the feet a little smaller. All in all this set looks fantastic and I can't wait for it to release.
I actually really like this! When it was first announced I didn't care much for this, but after this video I'm considering picking this up, plus some Hoth trooper packs

The AT-ST does look good and even if you are really bothered by the front hatches I guess that´s something easy to fix yourself. The minifigures are all pretty good as well.
I may not have the UCS AT-AT, but I do have the most recent regular one. So this and the other Hoth sets would still be good to put side to side with it, especially since I own a good amount of older Hoth related sets.
Not sure if this qualifies as a PTSD moment, but I keep hearing the AT-ST freakish mechanic sounds from the ol' N64 Shadows of the Empire game with Dash Rendar.... it is unsettling.

This is kinda weird. I don't think the hoth AT-ST was supposed to be an actual in universe design. The one's we see on endor were meant to retcon these ones. Odd
Is not that this AT-ST version has long legs for the snow of Hoth, THIS was the original AT-ST design. They realize that for Return of the Jedi they need it to film some sequences inside of one of them (Where Chewbacca hijacked one with 2 ewoks) but the cabine of the original was too small, so they had to redesign the whole chicken thing to be able to feet more people in it and I supposed to have more presence on the sorroundings, because the other one was too tall, thin and stylish. Definetly a most have if you are a fan of the Original Trilogy.
I really like it. I only have one AT-ST and that is the raider version. Now that you have compared it to the raider and the Rogue One version it doesn't look at all bad. So it's not limited in usefulness I have the playset AT-AT and to have a Hoth AT-ST is cool. Also If you want an AT-ST this is as good as the others and in some ways a lot better than the last 2.
It's a pretty screen accurate model of a vehicle from the cinematic version of TESB. Of course i'll buy that for my collection. It's good that only one pilot fits in the head, so i don't have to pay super-high prices for a second pilot.
Nah, AT-ST drivers from previous sets are pretty cheap on Bricklink. Obviously this one might be different since he's new but you could still get two of the old ones (e.g. the one from the Endor planet set) for less than $10 in total for both.
i wish lego would give us two different characters on the faces, and with the effort to have male and female soldiers I wish they would give us both male and females if they are gonna try and put more female soldiers even if it isn't in accurate proportions. Two different characters per head would be great for army builders

There was actually a clip for a blaster in the 2007 AT-ST, set 7657, so good to see that returning.
There was lots of places to put weapons over the years. X wing 2006 and rougue shadow 2005 both have places to put weapons
I always just design my own places to put the weapons in the vehicles

You can actually fit two mini figures in there if you just open the hatch on the top another one you can sort of fit

I will be playing with it so I'm getting all the 2022 hoth sets, atst, battle pack, and hoth defense.
