- Taking care of aquarium Java Moss consists of making sure this plant has a decent light and some nutrients in the water. Java Moss is considered one of the easiest plants in the aquarium hobby because of how little light it demands. This is an extremely easy plant to take care of but you still wanna do proper research. This is a moss and it’s not like most of the other plants in the hobby.

Java Moss grows the best when it can attach itself to a piece of driftwood. The moss likes to grow into the spores of wood and attach itself that way. When planting Java moss, you should try to put it in a location where I can attach itself to some thing.
Java Moss is a slow growing plant but once it starts to thrive, it will grow faster. It grows slower at first but once it gets used to its scenario it will grow much faster. It’s almost like the plant is getting used to the lighting and takes a little while to start growing.
Java moss can be propagated by just ripping a small piece off of the mother plant. This clump of moss is the new baby plant that you can put somewhere else. It’s a super easy plant to propagate and the babies do very well.

@@PalmerAquatics yeah I know it seems odd but it’s worked several times for me
Would u have any suggestions on why my java moss keeps dying and melting away
So I don't have drift wood in my tank would it be find to place on rocks or directly on the substrate to create a covered floor look?
Coconut shell
It's been 3 years since I started building proper planted tanks, and I still can't get Java moss to thrive.
I have Christmas moss that's exploding everywhere but all my Java moss dies.
It’s a hit or miss with me.. I’m convinced it’s the light and water parameters
🇨🇦😎
What wood is safe to use in an aquarium (3.15)?
Driftwood
I have a 20g tank myself with some Java Moss, crispus, and some other smaller plants. I was just noticing an accumulation of fish waste and wanted to know if that’s normal? I feel like if I had some shrimp in with my fish they would go nuts and help with that. Any thoughts?

New to aquatic plants, and fish for that matter! Thankyou so much for these tips ive just bought a small java moss and fern on a coconut shell. Ive plonked it in with my new guppies and ramshorns and hoping itll take off with your tips!
Liked and subscribed! Seem like a dude I wanna talk shop with! Good presentation, info, and editing. Looking forward to more.
As a side question; near the end, you give a list of beginner plants. From what I've read and watched, what seems to be THE list... Except one: the ever-argued Gold Pothos. My question: Will Pothos, hanging in a filter, "choke-out" Java Moss and other newbie plants in a slightly understocked tank?
My apologies for being long-winded, and my earnest interest in your channel! Thanks again.
I managed to kill Christmas moss 😭🤦♂️🗿💀🤡
My plants always melt and die. My lights are a bit bright. My pH is usually around 7.6 and I do water changes when the nitrate or nitrite goes above 0 ppm.
You don’t want 0ppm nitrate with plants. Nitrates are actually a big part of fertilizer. Plants need food!
Haha I love your addiction, I love fish tanks too but I don’t have room for that many 😂 I also have cats 🐈 ❤
Another Great Video Chris!!! Love all the fish tanks. Looks Awesome 👏🏻
Just me being a dork 🤣
last time i put some in my aquarium it didn't take off. it just all seemed to slowly die off. do sales eat it or something?
Same but then I got guppies and man all my plants do good now😮
@AK40_29 trying it in anoter tank with sponge filters, and despite every other plant in their taking off like a gunshot, the java moss just doesn't seem to want to grow much for me.
What is the pink/ red plant on the shelf? It is very beautiful. Is it the real plant color ? Or by red light/ pink light?
@PalmerAquatics How do you keep your cats from eating all of your house plants?
What are the tall stem plants in the first 55 gallon you showed
spores of the wood?
Pores? lol
I never claimed to be perfect 😅
No wonder I can’t keep Java moss from dying. I need a light
Not that you're testing that water? I'd be worried if they didn't test it first 😅
What is the name of the plant in the java moss aquarium?
Thanks 🙂
What is a good algae eater for my fish tank that won't eat my moss? Shrimp will already be going and i'm looking for something extra Love your videos bro
extra shrimp✌
holy shit i love ur level
Does Java moss spread ?
I have lights, farts, and moss is still slowly dying when I add it lol plants are ok though…what’s up with that?
Farts?!?
I reckon they're the problem. 😂
LOL i have no idea why spellchecker changed “nutes” to farts lmao I’m gonna leave it tho it’s great lol
I wonder how much you pay electricity bill
It’s 400-500 bux a month
Now how do you not get hair algea on the moss thnx.
Keep it where there is flow, maybe even keep it toward the surface of the water to stop detritus from getting settled on top, also it doesn’t need crazy direct light
It can also help to add it when the aquarium is already pretty mature and well balanced.
It loves the slow pull of my undergravel filter too. I just stuck it my pea gravel.
Your totally right!
Lmao we all crazy 🤪
No doubt! 🤣
