Iraqi President Saddam Hussein was on Tuesday (17/10) sworn in for
another seven-year term in office after winning 99.96 percent of
the vote in an unprecedented referendum. The ceremony
opened with the national anthem and a 101-gun salute outside a
"joint meeting of the Revolutionary Command Council (RCC) and the
national assembly" or parliament. The deputy leader of the ruling
RCC Izzat Ibrahim who supervised Sunday's poll officially declared
Saddam the winner and invited him to take the oath of office. With
his hand on the Koran, Saddam pledged before "almighty God, by my
honour and my faith to respect the independence, integrity and
unity of Iraq." Ibrahim then called on the president to receive "the sword and the pen" as a gift from the nation.

@@alexm566 Iran has sent mercenaries and ground troops to help Peshmerga forces fight Islamic state in Northern Iraq.They've been doing this since 2017 when Islamic state was at its weakest. It just so happens some of these areas Iran has sent troops in are oil refineries Islamic state took from the Iraqi's. So they didn't exactly steal the oil reserves from Iraq. They took advantage of a situation by sending help and in return they got access to something that would make them a lot of revenue.

Very sad ,unfair and disgusting what was done to my brothers and sisters in Iraq. I am a Bosniak ( Bosnian Muslim ) so i know what aggression is. I hope Iraq recovers. We as Muslims need to unite and learn to love as we are one. (☝️).
