(this is called stutter cancelling). or that you can roll cancel your recitals and the flourish to use them as fast pokes. or you can turn around right before using backslam to attack forwards with it. or the fact that the second hit of superpound will always land on the head if its in range, even if theres other body parts in the way.

Portable 3rd was a great MH for sure. Remember playing on a PSP with CFW and Team Maverick One English patch. My PSP may still have it on it. Assuming it works lol.
I never used the lance that much - but in MHW I hit a wall when I fought the big Pickle for the first time - and it was the lance that got me thru! Looking forward to checking it out in Rise.
Gaijin is ABSOLUTELY right about the connotations of the phrases "A-team" and "B-team". You can't have a "B" without an "A" any more than you can have a "Player 2" without a "Player 1", and in some franchises the "B"-team is _literally forbidden_ from introducing new canon. Look at Pokemon, for example -- say whatever you want about Game Freak's practices and I can't disagree, but they are still the ONLY team allowed to define new series canon (new regions, new species, etc.). Everyone else has to work within whatever Game Freak creates. But with Monster Hunter, it's nice to see that the teams don't necessarily have such a strict heirarchy, such as popular monsters returning again and again regardless of which "canon" created them (i.e. Nargacuga and Zinogre being "B"-team monsters, or Lavasioth being a Frontier monster). With me playing Lance in MH3U, Guard lancing is fun all right (especially with Glacial Agnaktor) but that Constitution-1 debuff ... yeah, you gotta gem it out if you can. Meanwhile, when playing MH4U with the Zinogre set I NEVER bothered trying to gem out Taunt. After all, I hunted solo most of the time so what difference did it really make?
Monster Hunter Rise is looking real good the game can’t come any faster Edit 21:27 actually they added it in Tri where you were able to enter other peoples homes of course the decorations weren’t anything near to what it is in iceborne but it was in tri first 34:20 it does seem like the Somnacanth has a qurupeco esque mechanic. qurupeco did do alot tho he healed all monsters in the area buffed them in atk and def he called for monsters in. Grank even calling a deviljho i don’t think he’ll be as complex as that but he could heal and buff himself that’d be cool
Thank god, finally someone who feels the same way I do with the Longsword. I used to main LS in MHFU and MHP3, its a really good weapon, simple, effective and you still gotta play well to use it. Now fast forward to World, it became one of the safest weapons to use because of the foresight slash. Literally counter anything, roars, tremors, attacks, wind pressure. Like what? Even the strongest shields need some Guard skill to block those and LS just fucking does it with such a huge window while also buffing the spirit gauge. I wish they get rid of it TBH, or at least put a heavier penalty on it, regardless of whether it actually dodges something or not. I would say the Iai stance counters are fairer, they dont have the crazy window of the foresight slash and it puts you in a vulnerable stance if you use it (altho most of the time its just used to animation cancel out of stuff and continue the combo string).
I started in 5th fleet but I joined the 3rd and 4th😁. I know a lot of people didn't like swimming but I loved it! That's why I'm so stoked to be back in the flooded forest, my favorite map. It looks beautiful on rise but I'll admit it's gonna feel weird not diving during certain map sections 🥺.
The Royal Ludroth, I simply call it the "Rolling Rolling Rolling, Royal Ludroth" because he's always rolling around. Rolling all the time. He does more Barrel rolls than the entire StarFox team. Anyway, while I was a 2nd Fleet starter, I remember being right on top of the Campaign to really push Monster Hunter Tri, in the west. Long before that game launched, I was all over Capcom's MH forums, and doing various presentations in support of the game. My big push was related to what I believed would be the *big* thing that would get the Western audience to really jump into the game. (And given you two, I guess I was right). It was the first Monster Hunter, not only with a good commercial campaign for the west, but to release on Hardware where every single person (who had one) could go online with it, right out of the box. The lack of internet play was a big hurdle for the West, as most westerners would have to learn how the game plays alone, remembering the PS2 did not launch with any online capability, and that required people to buy the hardware separately to enable that feature. Building communities strictly off Adhoc just wasn't a reality for the West. Online opened up the thing Japan kind of exclusively had, a large population to mentor new hunters into how things worked. What I loved was that Capcom USA was very supportive of our Fan efforts to spread knowledge of the game, particularly when it came to fan-made or edited commercials, or fan renditions of their work, as long as they were transformative and fan-made, not simply using their art. I even got an award from them, for a fan-contest back then (for my mostly acoustic rendition of the Pokke theme, MY MH Home town), and was honored to see Capcom USA actually promote one of my RUclips videos, for my Monster Hunter Yellow beard commercial remix. Ahh yes, Yellow Beard, our first Western Hunter Mascot for the series. I really enjoyed making the Pokke theme especially because I also got to do a very MH thing, in RL, in doing it. Crafted my very own RL Flute, out of bamboo, which I used to lead the song. Very interesting info about Sword And Shield. Coming into the game as the third Fleet, that would mean you really came in when they first really started utilizing SnS, adding KO damage to the shield, for the first time. Prior to that, it wasn’t quite as sexy a weapon.
The persimmon-throwing is probably based on the children story of saru-kani gassen (monkey-crab war) - maybe Gaijin knows it. In it, the monkey (which is the villain) throws persimmons at the crab. Since Bishaten clearly has monkey feature in it, the dev's probably playing with this theme!
Somnacanth actually crabs a clam from the water which heals it as he opens it. It's not hitting his chest with it, it's just using the chest as a pivotpoint to open the clam. Great Wroggi appeared in MHp3rd and 3U first. And was not in any other game before or after it. However there was Iodrome in Freedom Unite that was a poison spewing monster similar to Wroggi. Great Jaggi did call small Jaggias, but the jaggias were much like just annoying children of their mom. jumping around thinking they're helping, but are mostly in the way. The Rampage is def going to be 5 monsters in a single hunt. It's always been possible to do it, just that there's not really been any practical implementation of it. 5 monsters in an arena just brings chaos so they had to make it so that they appear 1 at a time. World also had an innate cap for monsters per area. So let's say you hunt in Wildspire Wastes, the map has a cap of 3 monsters per area. Not that they couldn't put a 4th, but because the AI pathways would interact too much with each other and result in monsters meeting and causing turf wars all the time. I'm sure they tested to put more monsters in the maps at some point in Worlds development. So Rampage is most likely taking these ideas of quests with 5 monsters in them, and bringing them for you to hunt all at the same time. Instead of being this very limited system where the monster appear one at a time.
I'd want a house to be the bed, a kitchen where you could make meals for free as well as having your canteen, a music player, a library for art or fun text dumps or whatever bonus materials they want, and an option to close doors and windows because that is a thing I want to do. Maybe a sofa and a tv to view the movies and cutscenes, and if you load the game into your home, waking up on sprawled across it drooling out of your mouth should be one of a few 'taking control of your character' animations. And you mentioned hanging weapons on the wall, that and the mannequin are good ideas.
Remember in mhgu when valor mode counter had a super tight window while the only other counter was a hunter art? I loved critical juncture... knocked alatreon out of the air as it charged at me with that move.
Yeah Gaijin is amazing, he taught me too to play and understand Monster Hunter. I Love these Third Fleet podcasts, keep them coming. Side note, oh my god senpai noticed my comment :D
Will Rise Dual Blades have the same moveset as World Dual Blades?? I really love the slingshot move and being able to do it in Demon Mode with the press of a single button was unbelievably nice. In GU, you need to be in archdemon and it's two buttons and it just isn't the same.
the somnacanth move where it crushes clams on it's chest seems to be based on the way otters use their bellies as tables to break crabs, clams and sea urchins with rock. you can search a video on this and it's almost identica.
Yea raspy throat is the start. Once you feel it load up on water to flush it and drink lots of hot drinks, it usually kills it before it develops into a cold
I'm pretty sure NPCs will help you out in the Rampage missions. In the TGA trailer where they show the cannons/ ballista rising up from the ground... one of the ballista came up with an NPC riding it. And it didn't look like a hunter because it looked a little smaller and less detailed than the hunter standing next to it. Now I'm wondering if this mission type will have some tower defense mechanics where you deploy "auto-cannons" in strategic areas or something.
Lightning hit the plane literally as we were coming into land, and I saw this orange blast hit the wing when looking out. If I hadn't read an article some years before that stated it's no big deal and always happens, I'd have been freaked out
I hope they do the same thing for the rampage that was done for the Velkhana siege. In the siege, other hunters would stock canons and I think they fire bowguns. It would be like having rastas (minus customization) in Frontier, but just for the rampage and it sounds fun.
Best thing about melatonin gaijin is less the relaxation but the crazy ass dreams. Took a 5mg pill and put on a playlist of call of ctulu ambient music on and had crazy dreams.
One thing I don't like about new long sword (world onwards) is before that lance was the counter weapon. So they gave LS lance capabilities and didn't give much more to lance... But in Rise it does seem they're doing Lance more justice, capcom seem to leave behind some of the less popular weapons sometimes.
The thing is, I wouldn´t want the artic ridge because I hate that zone, however, I think that type of zone would have pretty good synergy with Rise, since in older gens it was a pain to climb all those hills but now climbing hills is the specialy, so that would be a welcomed map for me (even tho I would love to see the Tundra from 3/3U again alongside my boy Giginox)
I used to main Gunlance in base MH world but when Iceborne came I dropped is. Using the WSB was a pain in the ass. Specially with agile monsters. Also, we need a Khezu vs Gigginox turf war!!
Most pills that makes you sleep... If you stay awake or wake up while it's still in your system, you'll feel like you're tripping and often times super uncomfortable/out of it too. It can be fun if you do it on purpose, but can be VERY dangerous and kinda dumb.
MHWI Bow inputs: R2 (release), O - Power shot. O (while holding R2) - Arc Shot. So, probably every time a bow user makes it rain, it's a bad input. It doesn't even do a lot of damage, so no one is doing this on purpose LOL
I love the Wyverian songs in Monster Hunter, especially in MH4 where I can just go and chill out to some beautiful tunes after some intense hunts. So I'm super happy to see more of that in Rise as well as hearing that they will have more than that one song! Also, imagine if they have the Diva as a surprise guest to perform a duet with Hinoa (man, I still don't understand why they feel the need to change her name from "Hinoe" to "Hinoa", it's dumb), that'd be super awesome. I'm being rather nitpicky here, but I feel the same way as Gaijin about people calling the dev "team A" and "team B" which makes Ichinose's team sounds inferior. However, I think the way Gaijin call one of the teams the "MAIN team" kinda puts down the other team as well, making it seems like a "reserve team"... It might be better to just call them "console team" and "portable team", maybe? I like that they have so many options for the voices. I think I will give the MH language a try first, but likely will go with Japanese because of how anime-esque it is, it's much more fitting. The English one is not bad and there are some that I like, but a lot of them sounded a little too try hard and ended up rather cringey (though I appreciate the English VO pouring their energy in to match the Japanese tone XD). About the Silkbind attacks, I think there will be just 2 (though I would love to have more!). Other attacks like the slingshot Lance which goes back and forth that Gaijin mentioned looks like a normal attack connected from a forward wirebug yank rather than a Silkbind skill. So we have attacks that connect from the aerial yank and forward yank, plus the 2 Silkbind skills, making 4 wirebug attacks in total on top of default moves and combos.
@@cjanoel Right, that was a long video and I just got to the part where Gaijin actually mentioned the other twin's name. Turns out her name is Minoto. Gaijin also speculate that they've changed Hino"e" to Hino"a" because people in the west might think the "e" is silent and misread it as "Hee - No" instead. Still, I think they should have kept the name. I mean the game does have voice acting, so they can just pronounce her name and show the players how to say it. This way we can get people to be more familiar with Japanese names and terms which will help to ease the localisation in the long run, too.
So happy to hear Gaijin Hunters voice again.

I love how much fan boy Rurikhan is towards Gaijin
Literally talking to someone who taught me a lot of what I know about mon hun :)
Yeah Gaijin is amazing, he taught me too to play and understand Monster Hunter. I Love these Third Fleet podcasts, keep them coming. Side note, oh my god senpai noticed my comment :D
Part Two Baby! not gonna lie, ima watch this tomorrow tho, 11:30pm aint nobody got time for that 3h video, i need mah sleep to be a productive Hunter.
A well Hunter rest between Hunts
Watched this a ton!!! Just playing in the background
Gaijin's daughter is the greatest human
I also pronounce it Lewdroth. Rurikhan always throws me off. In the end we agree to disagree and all be luddies... I mean bewddies... BUDDIES! Gah!
Will Rise Dual Blades have the same moveset as World Dual Blades?? I really love the slingshot move and being able to do it in Demon Mode with the press of a single button was unbelievably nice. In GU, you need to be in archdemon and it's two buttons and it just isn't the same.
Bishaten? Yeah, I be shatting too. 38:00
Got a new pup.. This Bishaten all over the house!
the somnacanth move where it crushes clams on it's chest seems to be based on the way otters use their bellies as tables to break crabs, clams and sea urchins with rock. you can search a video on this and it's almost identica.
Yea raspy throat is the start. Once you feel it load up on water to flush it and drink lots of hot drinks, it usually kills it before it develops into a cold
These are awesome im grinding safi while listening to yall
This isn't the Monster Hunter content we asked for, but it's the MH content we needed.
I listened to this podcast instead of sleeping.
I regret nothing.
This video helped me sleep last night 🤣😸
Yesss it's back!
For MHp3rd you can emulate it using PPSSPP. Plus there's a really good fan-translated iso. You can even play multiplayer with a bit of work :)
Yes my favorite podcast
It was weird to have Gaijin in a video with the "Hey guys! This is Gaijinhunter..." at the start.
Now order has been restored.
2:49:50 that was a surprisingly good imitation
Best thing about melatonin gaijin is less the relaxation but the crazy ass dreams. Took a 5mg pill and put on a playlist of call of ctulu ambient music on and had crazy dreams.
i killed red khezu with a boomerang in "FU" lol, can't wait to fight updated khezu.
I bet they made him way harder with the smarter AI :p
I killed my first Red Kezhu with a throwing knife :D
Love this podcast guys, keep it up 😆👍
But you should get Peppo from TDS in here cause i am noticing a serious lack of LS knowledge 😜
I love you guys, you’re both like the monster hunter dads
1:19:31 Makes me laugh so much. 2:50:00 Loving the podcast guys! xD
I love their love for the Lance. My heart grows 😁
One thing I don't like about new long sword (world onwards) is before that lance was the counter weapon. So they gave LS lance capabilities and didn't give much more to lance... But in Rise it does seem they're doing Lance more justice, capcom seem to leave behind some of the less popular weapons sometimes.
Bishaten fruit mechanic will probably work more like Congalala in how whatever mushroom he had changed his attack type/element
Was a ton of fun to listen to while hunting! I can't wait for the next one : D
I love how awkward they are XD, I love you guys
I expect enough hours on third fleet to podcast profile to be considered veteran hunterz. This is a good start
Yesssss I’m happy to hear more
The thing is, I wouldn´t want the artic ridge because I hate that zone, however, I think that type of zone would have pretty good synergy with Rise, since in older gens it was a pain to climb all those hills but now climbing hills is the specialy, so that would be a welcomed map for me (even tho I would love to see the Tundra from 3/3U again alongside my boy Giginox)
Thank you so mutch for this Podcast 3hours OMG....
Yeahhhhh baby that’s what I’ve been waiting for that’s a what’s all about woohooooooo
I used to main Gunlance in base MH world but when Iceborne came I dropped is. Using the WSB was a pain in the ass. Specially with agile monsters. Also, we need a Khezu vs Gigginox turf war!!
Thanks for this awesome podcast!
I'm that pumped that I'm going to book a day off work for the demo
Another great episode, please keep doing these.
When you're french and you discover a palamute is called a chumsky... Humm ok, yeah... it'll be palamute for me, thanks 😂
This is an amazing podcast, keep it up!
Main games would be on pc now and portable is a console technially with the sqitch so those 2 ters might be insufficient
I feel the twin's name will be Hinoe, not that they're changing Hinoe's name to Hinoa. So it's gonna be Hinoa and Hinoe just a theory
@@cjanoel
Right, that was a long video and I just got to the part where Gaijin actually mentioned the other twin's name.
@@oak3684 yep, missed opportunity...or not?
2 of my 3 favorite monster hunter ppl super excited to watch.
I’m loving this podcast! Also put some respect on Long Sword.
1:16:44 so I remember to get back to this part next time I hunt with my friends
That thing is qurupeco but as a water servant thing, and a drum on its chest.
