Because Crysis (1) was released only on PCs, the graphics were amazing, outstanding, enemies' AI was genius, idea was awesome, and when they released it on consoles everything has changed, it was not the same, completely different, boring, AI was made for console players - stupid, low, and predictible... 0 fun was given. the series as underrated as it is is one of my favorite game series. the capabilities of the nano suit makes you feel so powerful and being able to choose whether you want to he as stealthy ninja or an agressive berserker is an amazing feature not to mention the many weapons to use especially the bow in crysis 3 Hunter edition.

Well, look at Assassin's Creed Unity, you can't run it on max graphics, yet imo its graphics are worse than Crysis 3's. The first Crysis was really unoptimized, as it was as heavy as the 3rd one, but I believe the 2nd was ok with the optimization.(I'm not stating facts here, just my own opinion)
That is an awesome story, even more for an FPS game! Also, read the comics if you want to know more as when, how and why (SPOILER) Nomad died (by going in front of a rocket that was for Prophet and Psycho)!
The comics aren't canon (or at least not entirely). Nomad never died, in the games they mention that he's still alive, but CELL stripped him of his nanosuit (like they did to Psycho) and they're hunting him.
If Crytek does another Crysis game they should do Prophet stroy and what he went through on the Island in Crysis 1. I always wanted to know where he went and how did he get that badass ice gun.
Hargreave wasn't nuts. He was calculating and yet 100% dedicated to stopping the ceph and saving humanity. He was willing to sacrifice the lives of soldiers and ultimately himself in order for his plan spanning decades to play out. Once he realised his original plan to use the suit himself was over (reminder, he knew that would kill him) he switched to helping Alcatraz. Interesting character.
And to say that these games were 'great' is a massive MASSIVE understatement. If you think about it, all Crysis games combined make such a freakin Great storyline. Amazing. Absolutely amazing.
That's the only explanation why Alcatraz doesn't keep his own personality. I never really understood why Alcatraz changed and was so much like the original Prophet. The way they explained the story in the games could have been much better because I was pretty confused half the time on what was going on.
Well, Prophet actually kills himself in Crysis 2, so Alcatraz inherits the suit. When you finish the game, Prophet says: "Gould was right... The suit... It changes all the rules." What it means is that, before killing himself, Prophet had the suit for a long enough time for his brain to be stored within the suit itself. Since the CEPH cripple Alcatraz and leave him speech impaired, in Crysis 3, you only hear Prophet talking because he's in the suit, but Alcatraz is still the one behind the gun.
the nanosuits are not exactly a human creation. they are centuries beyond the technology humanity uses even in the story. even the people who created the suit do not know much about it and just created it by reverse-engineering ceph exoskeletons.
Didn't Prophet take Alcatraz's conisience (Body and mind i meant) after he jumped into the spores in the end of crisis 2 which made that Prophet was alive again but in Alcatraz's body. It's been a while seens i played the game and read the datas and info about what happened but i'm pretty sure somewhere it said something like, "Alcatraz sacrificed himself to save humanifty bla bla bla and Prophet is him now. Heck even in the end of crisis 3 you get to see "Alcatraz's" face which quite looked close to Prophet. Maybe the suit made Alcatraz into Prophet or he just was himself and finally decieded to talk after the ending at crisis 2 and sounded exactly like him but what do i know? I'm just a kid that loved the story and did hard core reasearch of the game's story or what happenened to Alca after the 2nd game
Everyone said and says that no one played Crysis for its story, no one cared about it because of gameplay and graphics and physics and huge open world map, but it was in 2007 and it is still better than many many other game stories and campaigns in nowadays.

This is the first time that I'm actually realizing the storyline of Crysis. I used to just think of it as a badass benchmark for my newest PC gaming rig upgrade. The storyline is actually pretty interesting!
Actually, Alcatraz didn't survive in Crysis 2, as you can here Prophet's voice. After un-blocking nanosiut Prophet's mind interfered in nanosiut. Therefor, in the end of Crysis 2 and in Crysis 3, we play as a nanosiut itself but with Prophet's mind. In the end of Crysis 3, we are being told that nanosiut is now completely unlocked and it can mutate in anything. So when Prophet fell on Earth, burning in the atmosphere, nanosiut changed itself to look like a prophet Technicly, Prophet is now a cyborg
If everyone remembers at the beginning of crysis 2, Alcatraz was muted somehow, and the suit basically developed its own self consciousness in the image of prophet and adopted everything about him, in a sense Alcatraz is still there but the suit, or prophet, are in control and are using Alcatraz's body as a host, its really complicated to understand, I won't even say that its easy especially if you don't play the games a few times through all the way and don't pay super close attention
1:27 I had no idea about this part when I was playing it! Loved this 5 minute summary of Crysis. I played the series as 3 first, then 1 and then 2 and this makes it more understandable!
You played the wrong one. Crisis 1 has better graphics (despite being released earlier) and gameplay with more destruction (killing humans instead of generic alien shits).
You'd have to be VERY biased towards 1 (or against 2) to think 1 has better graphics. There's so much crazy tech that looks phenomenal in 2. The graphics in 2 are on another level. The story is of course subjective (I personally like 2's story because it's more deep, but the more actiony story in 1 is decent too). The main differences between the two are the open world (in Crysis 1) vs. linear world (Crysis 2) and the gameplay (how effective abilities are and such).
Trogdor8freebird what?? I'm Not being biased, I'm just saying I loved part 2 & I never got the chance to play part 1 so I was implying that part 1 must've been awesome as well since Crysis 2 was awesome.
You forgot to mention the events in the comic book mini series which detail how Hagreave and Major Barnes met, and reveal his actual mission on the island. The reason why Prophet was alone in NYC was because Nomad died on Lingshan, he died of his injuries given to him by CIA operative Norman West.
Everything correct right up till 6:08, Alcatraz doesn't "don a new codename"...he technically died died when he jumped into the alien spore to disable it. What you hear saying "They call me prophet" is the suit's own voice synthesizer being used by the ghost-in-the-shell known as Prophet, a series of memories and personality data left over from Laurence Barnes. The suit is basically an AI (with a very human touch) at that point. We NEVER hear Alcatraz's true voice, his vocal chords were gone.
Alcatraz is a white guy and marine soldier. Prophet (the black guy) gave alcatraz the suit and at the end alcatraz dies which is why Prohpet's mind can use alcatraz body to come back to life.
rhov rox well in the end since prophet got rid of those neural barriers or whatever .... his suit can take whatever form prophet wants , so basically under the black skin he is still Alcatraz . His suits has camouflaged into Prophet himself .
unless this was made before crisis 3 came out there is a lot of info missing. for example alcatraz dies when he successfully kills all the aliens, and prophets mind was somehow existed as a "backup" in the suit. the body of alcatraz was still usable after the suit healed and restored the physical body, but "loads" prophet into the body because there wasn't enough time for the suit to integrate with alcatraz.
Honestly, the beginning of the full scale attack at night was awesome. You get a few marine friends and they are actually useful, and then if they stay alive long enough, help you take the facility and blow up the ship.
I had to comeback and watch this to remember how Crysis 1 is so much better then Crysis 2, not just the game sequence but the Graphics aswell, Crytek downgraded the graphics in Cry2 because it launched on consoles simultaneously, cross-platform games always suck for PC gamers!!
obviously you didn't bother waiting (wasn't a long wait) for the DX11 patch and Hi Res textures. Oh well, your loss. Crysis 2 eventually went to looking a million times better than Crysis, and the power of the engine shows as they put it to full use on Crysis 3. You can't complain about that. And cross platforming never hurt anyone if it meant an extra buck being made. Crysis 3 came out on all platforms too, yet the PC was not effected at all, with visuals surpassing anything of its time and on par with todays games 2 years later. Don't forget, Crysis 1 was the most pirated title of its time. It was leaked 3 days before launch, and even I downloaded it before buying it because I simply couldn't wait 2 more days for it. Many never bought it at all. Crysis 1 was a title worth much praise, and the shit people pulled with it had it opt for more secure sales in the future and well done to CryTek.

The suit is basically an AI (with a very human touch) at that point. We NEVER hear Alcatraz's true voice, his vocal chords were gone.
wait.. who's under the suit in part 3..?? the black guy is alcatraz? i thought he's laurence? sorry didn't play 1 and 2.. i need answers..
Alcatraz is a white guy and marine soldier. Prophet (the black guy) gave alcatraz the suit and at the end alcatraz dies which is why Prohpet's mind can use alcatraz body to come back to life.
prophet's mind? he shot himself in part 2..so.. how did that happen?
prophet basically downloads his personality to the suit, and he becomes pretty much the worlds best bodysnatcher lol
117thehalomaster in the ending of 3 we saw lawrence himself right? how did that happen if he shot his self?
rhov rox well in the end since prophet got rid of those neural barriers or whatever .... his suit can take whatever form prophet wants , so basically under the black skin he is still Alcatraz . His suits has camouflaged into Prophet himself .
Man crysis theme gives me chills
Prophet sounds badass
OMG he was
unless this was made before crisis 3 came out there is a lot of info missing. for example alcatraz dies when he successfully kills all the aliens, and prophets mind was somehow existed as a "backup" in the suit. the body of alcatraz was still usable after the suit healed and restored the physical body, but "loads" prophet into the body because there wasn't enough time for the suit to integrate with alcatraz.
More like Crysis in 6 minutes 35 seconds
2023.. still my fav game
Amazing story! Crysis 4EVER Prophet 4EVER!
Actually I am playing in 2020. What a coincidence.
if I have that nanosuit I probably cloaked all the time, specially when I'm near a hot chick
u cant always be cloaked it uses nanosuit energy
Lmao playing this series over and over, the "New York City is f*****" gets me.
At Crysis 3 Prophet is still alive
So is Nomad and Psyco
ummmmmmm no?
ummmmmm yes
thanks
He is alive in Crysis 3 if yuou fully complete the game.
2022 and forget the graphics the story still is amazing as ever
EA PLEASE GIVE US THE CRYSIS TRILOGY, JUST LIKE MASS EFFECT
00:10 People, this graphics was 12 years ago.
It's 2020 and nothing's happened
2020
Corona virus occurs
Wait.....
Honestly, the beginning of the full scale attack at night was awesome. You get a few marine friends and they are actually useful, and then if they stay alive long enough, help you take the facility and blow up the ship.
RECEIVING DATA
Hollywood needs to make a movie out of this game.
crysis 1 is still the best game in the series hands down. I tried both Crysis 2 and 3 and it was crap
not true
+gasser osman true
+CrueL Charles crysis 2 is MUCH more better trust me
CrueL Charles gameplay. Not everything has to be graphics man.
+CrueL Charles I'm not gonna convince you aren't I?
If this happens this year I don't think I'd be surprised its 2020
I had to comeback and watch this to remember how Crysis 1 is so much better then Crysis 2, not just the game sequence but the Graphics aswell, Crytek downgraded the graphics in Cry2 because it launched on consoles simultaneously, cross-platform games always suck for PC gamers!!
obviously you didn't bother waiting (wasn't a long wait) for the DX11 patch and Hi Res textures.
I actually teared up watching this, absolutely loved the crysis games
2020😶☠️☠️☠️☠️☠️☠️
Only problem is that alcatraz isn't just dawning a new code name. He was erased and replaced by prophet
Every black man in every game dies
it is a very saddening issue for black people like me......
just joking
but prophet lives on as his memories become more and more dominant in the nanosuit as alcatraz fades away. therefore prophet lives on.
SO TRUE, like battlefield 3, that Cole dude gets shot and dies
but crysis 2 have the best map level desingn from all 4 titles.
2019 but... Cry engine 3 is the best old but gold engine ever!!
The year is 2020 but I don't think we are anywhere near that technology.
