  • @ryanwilson3621
    @ryanwilson3621 Год назад +1

    Ehhh I think a lot of people are overlooking a build with her where the enemy GETS NO TURNS.
    Grand strategist goes first and can place a backline zone where powers come for -1 AP. In my gaze turns into a 0AP move you can use twice with the right staff. Then grant a bounty hunter a turn with bring it down. Their 0AP prey marking can give the bounty hunter extra turns with others kill the prey. Cassia gains willpower when extra turns are procc'd. But the amazing part is that when it comes back to Cassia it counts as the start of her turn again and she has all her attacks and can use 0AP in my gaze again! Then with ultimate abilities you give another bounty hunter on team a turn to set 3 more prey markers and kill them with 0AP in my gaze. Then ultimates on each bounty hunter can give more prey markers...
    I've got a team build that gives us 16 extra turns on the first round. Cassia's willpower goes up by 16x5 which boosts her In my gaze damage to unreasonable levels. You start killing trash enemies but build up to stupid amounts of damage.
    There are very few encounters that the enemy even gets a turn with this loadout and it can be further enhanced with more bounty hunters. Notch of purpose still matters to tease enemies out into the open to get marked and destroyed to proc extra turns but the main focus is never letting the enemy even pull a single trigger.

    I think you’ve missed a trick with Held in My Gaze. The value in that one isn’t in immobilisation (that’s just a nice bonus), its in the damage. Most of Cassia’s attack power damage is basically Willpower bonus + n, but Held in My Gaze does (2 x Willpower bonus) + n. That means that once you’ve built up her Willpower bonus to the point where that’s dominant, she’ll be doing way more damage with this power that the others. It’s only single target, but with only 1 ap to use, a good long range, and apparently not counting as an attack, this is fantastic for clearing up spaced out mooks or stacking up undodgeable, unresistable damage on a boss.
    It appears that in the release version it now counts as an attack, but the willpower multiplier has been doubled again to 4xWP, which is a crazy amount, given how high her WP can be boosted. This is her boss-killing power, particularly since its still only 1 ap, so if someone drops finest hour on her, she can really go to town on that boss.

    I've now tried this build and buffer build and I much prefer this way to build her, great call on focusing on her aggressive options.
    She's especially good if you have another officer and you make her a grand strategist - I open with my officer giving her a turn to move enemies into a clump then on her grand strategist turn she melts them. There are times when I finish fights before the round is up. I experimented with giving her that officer talent too but that breaks her and she can't use navigator abilities during any bring it down turn until after her normal grand strategist turn.
    I also really like the staff option that let's her use an ability twice but the second time hurts her. Thanks to the talent that heals her every turn it usually tops her back up.

  • @grandlancer

    In beta I focused Cassia on her leader and team buffing talents and she was great there as well. She seems to work best with a dedicated build (support or damage) while still being decent as a hybrid.

    Re: Mend Reality. When I played the beta I had 2 psykers in the group (MC + Heinrich), and Cassia's Mend Reality was the only way that worked. Warp Peril was getting pumped hard, and quickly using psychic powers would be a no-no if Cassia wasnt around. To have the group I wanted, this was a must-pick compared to your "Cassia doesnt care about any of this, skip it".
    Unless Warp Peril build up has fundamentally changed, I'm 100% picking this up again and Cassia will be chained to me and not be allowed outside the group. She's insane in all of the ways, and was a true heavy weight anchor to the group.

    • @SlanderedGaming
      @SlanderedGaming  Год назад +2

      For each Psyker did you pick up their general talent which lessens veil degradation? Because yes if you ignore that then Cassia's talent is much more useful but I had Idira and Heinrix both pick it up and never experienced veil issues.

    • @oldmanramblingatclouds
      @oldmanramblingatclouds Год назад +2

      Yeah, same- I can understand Slandered making her a Terminator, but between my warrior MC, Argenta and Heinrik, my usual playstyle's already heavy on the damage dealing, and I'll probably build Cassia into an actual leader.

      Cassia is your best friend if you nuke with psykers - builds are subjective still.

  • @SteinerNein
    @SteinerNein Год назад +5

    I have to disagree with Cassia not buffing allies, for example Reveal the Light in conjunction with Voice of Command is nearly a 30% damage increase for a psy rating 1 Pyromancer (operative or otherwise); consider that Pyro's Inflame ability and the fact that burn is WP + 2(psy). Every bit of damage counts and the output for 1AP for an extra ~20 against something like the CSM boss on Unfair or even on mooks when you combine it with Firestorm on unfair will do plenty of work.
    Also in regards to Glimpse of Fate, even if you pick the Veil degredation talents, you some times start in fights with Veil already pushed up to +10 and if you're running Idira lol. Also, if you're not playing a heretical and you are using a Marksman Psyker you will most likely generate way too much Veil degredation for passives to keep up and would need more actives. Your heroics won't always be up either.
    Keep in mind that Stabilizing Factor only works on the first psychic power, an operative would be doing Analyze, Ignite, Inflame as a rotation for example and Stabilizing would only apply to Ignite but not Inflame and you may not want to use Inscribed Soul since you kind of need toughness in the event that the AI decides to shoot at you.
    Take another example of buffs, on unfair difficulty, when you're facing the CSM and he decides to use his bolter attack it can hit you for 60 each. Assuming you have 45% armor (tactical knowledge from Pascal to boost it by 18-20%), assuming you've managed to land a talent augmented expose weakness and intimidation which is 40% damage reduction. Each hit now is about 20 and with Reveal the Light and Voice of Command, it'll push your average health over 40 meaning you'll have a decent chance of surviving. Here's an example of what damage debuffs could've prevented along with having something like Reveal the Light on certain things: ruclips.net/video/ZT4zSsnUCHM/видео.html
    I think you're underselling buffs and as aside debuffs as well in some cases.

    • @SlanderedGaming
      @SlanderedGaming  Год назад

      I focus Cassia on Navigator mechanics because she's the only one who has them. I prefer using other characters for Officer and buffing. In hindsight I agree that this causes me to undervalue some of the other mechanics she can utilize. I do not play on Unfair, nor do most players, so I don't make these videos with Unfair requirements in mind.

    Just a correction, Slandered- when you mention the WP resistance check at 1:00, that +30 bonus is to *_their_* Willpower check, not Cassia's, so an enemy with 30 Willpower (average in the RT system) would resist as if their Willpower was 60. It might be great for shredding low-level enemies or some beasts, but against enemies with high WP I think its effectiveness is sharply reduced.
    Incidentally, this is why Willpower is so important in the tabletop- so many attacks, defences and effects key off WP that the typical powergamer move is to find every chance to pump Willpower you get, or chip in a larger percentage for food and drinks so the GM doesn't throw those enemies at you 😅

    Whoa whoa! There’s multiple ways to build cassia! If you are deploying a ton of Psyker abilities on your team, you certainly want the anti veil degradation! And Cassia is an amazing buffer since she’s an officer too. She’s a very complex character and doesn’t have just one build. She makes a great Grand Strategist and a solid Vanguard too. Especially with her self heals. I prefer her as a GS though so she can always go first and do what she needs to do and start the fight how you want.

    • @SlanderedGaming
      @SlanderedGaming  Год назад +1

      GS, Vanguard, and Officer mechanics are available to the player and other party members. Psykers have their own anti veil degradation talents. I think Cassia is best served focusing on the mechanics only she can provide and let everyone else focus on general abilities. Of course everybody is different which is why I provide the full talent/abilities description so people can come to their own conclusion. :)

    My observations, Unfair difficulty. Cassia best girl. But you have to pick one. Or use the buffer cassia only with point of curisity(to good to not pick), or use the damage/debuff spells.
    Mend Reality: NEEDED for you if you play a heavy psyker party and its not HERETIC.
    ReVeal in the light: GReat buff... making harder for enemys to resist your spells. Skip in lower difficults, or if you chose damage/debuff route.
    Show the path: A INCREDIBLE GOOD second giving turn ability BUT... hard to impossible to use due to the spell range. For buffer cassia
    VIGIL BEYOND TIME: GOD SKILL... on unfair. Your melee characters take time go to online this make things less frustrating. And never gets old. A fail safe, has long has Cassia lives your main dps or tank will not die. But in lower difficult yeah not worth.
    The oter offensive options: Held in my gaze, Imolate Soul, Scourge of the red tide. Those are all complementary. Scourge its GREAT when you have a party with bounty hunters you can throw it on the boss. And keep him there. Imolate to suport pyromancer MC(the more burns present the more damage the pyro does).
    Visions of HELL: Better debuff in the game. Simple make cassia and oter psy powers, and taunts, and some Crown control granades just hit, even the bosses/mini bosses.
    POint of Curiosity: BEST SKILL IN THE GAME TO GET RID OF THE LOW TIER ENEMYS AND RAMP UP MOMENTUM. Toghter with the talent that make they take damage when they move.
    Boss locking tatics Cassia Grand strategist. MC officer. Round start my officer make the bounty hunter move(pascal). Bounty hunter use prey and trap in teh foot of the boss(imobilize proc 100% no test). Cassia move drop Frontline in teh boss feet, 0Ap cost, Vision of hell in the boss 1 ap, Warp curse unleas 1 ap, Scourge of the red tide 2 ap (4 total). Point of curiosity, 1AP inside the Area, or Scourge.(this can be done when you get the next ap).

    Calling things useless just because you don't use them is a pretty bad way to frame a "Mechanics Full Breakdown" video. Most the stuff you said is useless is actually very powerful and viable. Save the commentary on usefulness when talking about a specific build, unless the ability actually isn't viable in any context. Just because you don't like her as a support doesn't mean she can't be a powerful one. Appreciate you going over the abilities but to be frank you did a poor job actually fully breaking down the navigator's mechanics. What you gave us was a good breakdown on how to use the abilities you like, but not the abilities you don't. Just because you don't like them, not because they aren't good.

    • @SlanderedGaming
      @SlanderedGaming  Год назад +4

      Pretending that everything is equally viable provides zero value to the viewer. They watch to hear "commentary on usefulness." People can read the description for themselves they don't need someone to spend 15 minutes repeating that information. That doesn't mean my breakdown couldn't be improved so if you have feedback on specific abilities or talents I said to skip by all means provide it. But I am not going to shift into content I know most people don't want to watch.
