A video with Tad on christmas, damm thats great! Tad is like the US Korean army father I never had. Great guy, great video. Make more videos like that please. Merry christmas from Berlin, germany. Love peace, Devil
This is the first of a series of videos about life around Camp Humphreys which will showcase how convenient, delicious, and affordable retiring in the REAL Korea outside of the city center can be. After having stayed with Tad for a few weeks near Pyeongtaek I must say I am convinced Korea is the top retirement destination for anyone wanting to retire in Asia
Thank you for your video. I will be there in sept. to nov. 2022. I will be in Paju not far from Camp Casey Korea. Yes i was there in Camp Humphey and I find it great place to be. Thanks
It's nice seeing the perspective of what military veterans get to experience when they complete their service. I personally don't think it's worth it and cut my enlistment short but if you really love the service I say do it for the full 20 years!
Kool video, I was there in SEP 2019 for TDY, really enjoyed my stay. I also had the Red Thai Curry at the golf course. The Bacon Cheese Burger and Fajitas was good too if you haven't tried. Thank you for sharing your adventure!
Nice video. I, unfortunately, went to Medboard and was kicked inside of retired. I did however, receive a 100% P&T rating from the VA. I'm curious to see the benefits allowed.
Thank you for your service to our country, I need to know how to get a cheap apartment in and around camp humphrey, because my wife and I wants to come to korea, because she wants to get dual citizen in korea, becuase process may 6 month or a year. I am a retied military that is able to stay there. Thank for your help. Thank you for your comment to me. Thanks
I only did ten years so no retirement for me. I wonder if I can on Camp Humphreys with my Veterans Health Identification Card? I use it to get on Ft Lewis here to use PX and Commissary.
Hey man, I'm a Non-Retired Honorably Discharged Veteran with 50% disability living in Pyeongtaek. What kind of services am I entitled to on Camp Humphreys? Thank you so much in advance for replying if you choose to do so.
If you have a veterans card or military ID you should be able to get the same benefits Tad is experiencing but don't quote me on it. Go to the base and ask. Nothing to lose
I cannot use the PX. I can go use the other stores and food court, but they cannot set up a rations account for me. So that sucks, but I can use the Hospital by using same day appointments. Basically have to treat the hospital as they're out of network and use Tricare. Pretty lame. Thought I could get a Primary Care Physician and be seen regularly, but guess not. Gyms, golf courses and everything else is free game.
I was there in 1991, My whole Camp that I was assigned to is GONE, Given back to the ROK, and the one north of us, Camp Eagle....GONE.....I think its a mistake giving all these bases back.....I think its a mistake by reducing our troops there...BUT thats me...Its not like the NORTH will attack or nothing*(if china attacks tiawan, I would attack ROK. Hopefully, the others will get in on it.
Hi ! I enjoyed your video. I'm a US Army retiree and did 3 tours with the 2nd Infantry Division during the early 80's and 90's . I had visited Camp Humphreys back in 95 , Man ! I'm blown away with new facilities. it's awesome. I'm planning to visit Korea next year. What I wanted to ask you is, Are Ration cards still required for retirees and their spouse ?
Wow I have no idea. Tad is the expert but I haven’t talked to him for a while. Highly recommend you just visit the va facilities and confirm. It seems each base has their own policy etc especially during the Covid situation
If you want base/facilities access without returning to active duty, join the Reserves. As a reservist, I have access to all the facilities and Tricare Coverage at a cheap price ($47/mo for medical and $11/mo for dental). Also, the greatest benefit you need to look into as a veteran is the Post-9/11 GI Bill benefits. Overseas, your school will be paid for plus $1800/mo BAH/living expenses for 36 months. In US, it depends on locality rate. In LA, school paid for and $3K mo in BAH/living expenses for 36 months (well over $100K in total benefits over 36 months). You used to have 15 years from separation to use the benefit, but I believe that time limit was removed a few years ago.
I used the gi bill while I was serving in the reserves to go to college already. In hindsight I shoulda waited cause they raised the benefit amount so much haha
@@livetravelasia Sorry. Knock yourself out. "Many Native Americans do not celebrate the arrival of the Pilgrims and other European settlers. To them, Thanksgiving Day is a reminder of the genocide of millions of their people, the theft of their lands, and the relentless assault on their cultures."
@@lifesabeach5405 😅Wow I am very surprised by this response. You obviously think you're "strong" so you must still be very young. All people are brought low in time and become the "weak". You just don't know that yet. But I hope you will learn a bit of empathy when your life unravels. In face that's probably the only way deluded, arrogant people learn. You can be aided by friends and sympathetic people though. I hope you will gather such around you for those times, but it will only happen if you stop being a dick.

Thanks for the video korea right? My Dad was there.
Yup thank you so much for the comment
Get ready for the second wave Ethan!!
Insane. I left in 2011 and the place looks nothing like it was when I was there.
I heard it doesn't even look like what it was a few years ago haha

What visa need to live in Korea as the United States Army retiree ?
Depends on your situation. You could also work at the base and get a sofa status and visa :)
혹시 험프리스 안 매장 파트타이머 직원도 아이디 카드가 있으면 헬스장 이용가능한가요?
say does he have dual citizenship with both U.S and Korea?
No he’s American
he didnt talk about how much he get paid every month
I think he gets about $2,400 a month... tax free with expat status.
Idk either but it’s not that much. A few thousand at most

You celebrate Thanksgiving in Korea? What's that about? It seems the USA has overwhelmed Korean culture in some cities.
We’re Americans haha

2.20 a gallon? Damn. That’s old. lol.
Yeah this video is almost a year old now. Gas prices went up since
It might have been worth it, I dont see how it would be worth serving for 20 plus years.....and getting mediocre beneifts....
