    I am a hobbyist who shoots for fun when I can. I use a Canon 70D with a variety of lenses found from Amazon and other websites. They do a great job although they are the Chinese cheaper ones. I shoot video in 1080P, which is all the 70D will give you. When I want 4K, I will use a program to upscale. I was asked from a friend wanting to get into photography if he should buy the top of the line camera. I told him no, buy an older one like the 70D and save your money. The 70D does a fantastic job, it is durable, great for aftermarket purchases, can take Magic Lantern program upgrade, and is simply a blast to shoot with. It produces stunning photos.

      @@pricklypearcamera I would like to say my nifty-nifty but I also like my 35. I try not to use my zooms as much as possible. I have a 28 and a 400 but nothing is a red band Canon. To me, they do a fantastic job. If I were just starting out, I would by the same thing if I knew how well the equipment would work for an amateur just starting out or a seasoned weekend photographer. You know I once worked for CNN back in the late 80's. I had more fun with my Nikon FM2 than any other camera. For some reason I gravitate towards the underdog. I also have an off brand flash that does the job. And, I have an array of ND and other filters. I try to do everything in camera rather than in post. The old expression, If it ain't broken, don't fix it applies to my level of photography. To me its not the camera as much as the challenge to get it right threw the lens. As far as video goes, I shoot with the camera attached to a stabilizer. There are presets that I use that almost bring the quality up to 4K. If I have to I can also use some programs to bring the video up to 4K and I'll be dam if I can tell the difference. I should also say that I have a GoPro Hero 10 that does shoot 4K so sometimes I like to get everyone onto the same page. But, I have had situations that I couldn't tell the difference between 1080 2K 4K 6K or whatever. For an hobbyist, I don't think people should gravitate the the newest and greatest without looking at the quality each camera can produce.

Went to EOS300D when it was released. I still have that A40 somewhere with 2G CF card. History so far; 300 -> A40 -> 300D -> 500D -> 6D mk II. 500D were handed down to my daughter to learn photography, after camera were around 10 years new and done roughly 90k shots (as an hobbyist)...

      Most used lens; Canon nifty-fifty, with all plastic construction (the older version I guess). Perfect for icehockey rink photography on its price range.

    Some of these old cameras (working or not) could be valuable as film and TV props. If you have a web site where you sell these 20, 30, 40 year old devices they should be arranged according to years built or used. You could loan out (rent) or sell to prop masters as they are always in need of age appropriate items for genre or period films. Probably best to rent them out as they rarely need the props after filming ends. The Mavica FD is an example of a real rare item from the late 90's. We had one way back then and everyone was excited about the technology but it really didn't take very good images. I recall the write times to the floppy were excessive and overall operation was clunky. Still, it was a starting point to the future we have today.
    Also, you seem to automatically format digital media cards without looking at them. I can't tell you how many crimes have been solved by recovered media left in cameras. My dad was in the FBI. Or just someones memories that they would like back if there is any way to identify the persons images. Same with film, but there's a cost to get them developed.
    I like your RUclips channel.

  • @jroar123
    @jroar123 Год назад

    You might be creating your videos somewhat backwards. Okay, you might have gotten lucky with what's inside the box. However, that probably is not always the case. So now you have to justify spending all that money to your wife. When I was married, that was a tall order. On the other-hand, when I produced something first for her to see, she understood the value of the expenditure. As an example, I wanted a table saw. I purchased one and then built her some raised beds for her garden. She loved it and appreciated that I would spend (reasonable money) on her. If fact, you and I both know it was so I could build that bar for my man-cave. So when you make these videos, consider doing something with at least one camera that justifies to the viewer the expense of buying the box of cameras. Besides, it would be a lot of fun to see how the camera preforms and gives you an excuse to get out of the house and shoot something. And sure, it's not the camera but the eye and brain behind it that creates the art (Photo).
