the used market for camera's and tech in america always makes me jealous, not even just finding gems like the Leica, but being able to dig through all those interesting cheap asf cameras seems so fun
I got this lucky once. A late photographers family gifted me his entire camera collection while I was in college. One day I had five film cameras to my name, the next day I had almost 100. In the lot of cameras, there were several Leica R bodies and lenses, 7 Mamiya RB67s, Contax G1, 3 Nikon F3s, too many to list. It was wild. Truly the kindest thing anyone has ever done for me.
Haha the Hassleblad back was such a tease. That Leica can 100% get fixed up, new curtains and a service at worst. Nicca is the real gem there IMO. Nice video though man, I used to have a similar hookup with a thrift store before I moved, just misc boxes for X amount of dollars, sometimes a terrible deal, sometimes fantastic.
That must’ve been exciting to have the hook up with the thrift store for better or worse! Fortunately I have been through the experience of having my own Leica IIIC overhauled, so I’d likely try to go the same route with this one.
Very cool! Glad it was supporting a charity shop, it probably saved them so much time. Hope you enjoy restoring these gems as much as you did finding them. Congrats and cannot wait to see more. 🎉
Dude that is so awesome! Very clean content and nice to watch (: The biggest haul I ever had was $400 for a trunk full of cameras and inside of it was a 4x5 monorail, 2 Yashica 124g's, 2 canon AE-1s, and a bunch of random canon lenses and an assortment of darkroom equipment.
I'm not sure if it's because people see the size of them and just snag em instantly, or they're just rare to find but I raaaaarely find medium formats when on the hunt :P@@ExpiredBren
That blue bag (for camcorders I think) in the bottom left of the pile is actually a perfect carrying bag for Rolleiflex cameras. I have one myself and use it all the time. Really really good. (I once bought 89 cameras for 150 Euro. Included was a Mamiya C330, a Robot Royal 36. And a lot of crap).
That's a great haul! That one Maxxum you pulled out is the 9000, the first pro-body Maxxum. And that Polaroid Pro Pack is a Type-100 pack film camera; they're a little meh.
Nice vid! Just pointing out that the counter in the bottom right doesn't make much sense to me, I do a bit of consulting so I thought I should point it out, maybe make it more self explanatory? Is it dollar amount?, etc.
You made a deal brotha, the cameras which are broken you can sell for parts people use for decoration if they're not fixable and the camcorders put em on ebay they gonna sell, folks nowdays are experimenting alot recording in mini dv for that 90s look.
Value wise I went with the middle of the road for each camera, or going off of what I've sold the same model for in the past. Of course there's a lot of extra lenses, accessories, unforeseen issues, taxes, and such that remain to be factored in. Because most of what I would make from this will go straight back into my photography, I cut to straight to the chase and converted the value to how much film I could get in exchange.
I enjoy the hell out of digging through shit like this. Great finds, too. I have too much surplus junk that I don't want and can't sell otherwise I'd be buying lots all the time.
I've been looking for a decent Minolta SRT 101. My dad had one and it was the camera he let me use when I started getting interested in photography in 1970.
Woah ... I too sometimes buy a box or two with multiple cameras from auctions, but 130 on one run - that would occupy me half a year to clean and/or repair and then sell them all. Most of those cameras looked to be in quite bad shape, would be interesting to learn which of those were actually working or could be made working again. But just from looking at what I could see here and based on experience of buying such cameras, I guess that at least half of them are lost causes and at best could be sold for parts. What is worth something in itself, since for many of those cameras parts are no longer available even at their makers.
Fortunately if half of them are broken I will still have a lot of decent lenses to worth with as well. Because these were all in a dry California environment there isn’t much fungus to deal with.
Hi yall. I want to start my photo and video journey, and to start it im thinking about buying myself a Fujifilm S7000 finepix. If anyone has it, is it ok in terms of video and photo quality as a starting point?
@@ExpiredBren it was obviously cared for. The leather case it came in has come apart at all seams, but he camera it's self, not a scratch or ding. Only the film will be able to tell how bad the insides are. The shutter and mirror work perfectly, from my inexperienced hands.
Im halfway through the video and I wonder, how are handycams worth a dime and those compact cameras? They're not worth their weight here in the Netherlands.
The younger generation goes hogwild for the older camcorders and digicams in the US! It took me by surprise as well. Most of the digicams will sell within a day after I list them for sale.
I reckon it depends on where one gets their Portra from. The main place I buy from sells if for a tad cheaper, so it comes out to a little less than that
Wow. That Leica made it a huge score! Congratulations.. you just lived my dream of stumbling on to a Leica at a thrift store.
That had been my hope for some time! I'm looking forward to seeing if I can send it off for a CLA and shutter curtain replacement soon.
Nice 1949 Leica find😊
Basically living every film photographer’s dream 😅 Hasselblad back had me hyped for a second
Same! I held out the glimmer of hope that the camera body would be in another bag deeper down
A geiger counter of course, to measure all those radiactive lenses... sure why not
A must have accessory for us Super Takumar aficionados👌
Bro finding the Nicca is the true nugget dayum!!!!
Compared to the Leica IIIC the Nicca Type 4 is in great shape too! I’ve only ever come across one other before
@@ExpiredBrenthat nicca worth a lot too~! I would say almost as much as the leica iii.
the used market for camera's and tech in america always makes me jealous, not even just finding gems like the Leica, but being able to dig through all those interesting cheap asf cameras seems so fun
It is far too much of a thrill to dig through all of the old cameras. It's probably why coming across finds like these can be so addicting!
That is absolutely wild! Getting 7 RB67s is pretty insane too. The Leica R glass as well.
7 mamiyas omg. dream camera
Here I am looking to get into shooting film with not film camera to pick up in local shops / FB market place.
Haha the Hassleblad back was such a tease. That Leica can 100% get fixed up, new curtains and a service at worst. Nicca is the real gem there IMO. Replacing Leica curtains is quite expensive, at least here in Europe. The cost is almost equal to the value of a working camera.
@@Bagatellamusic I have heard that they can be expensive in Europe. In the US we have Youxin Ye, who does a great job for a reasonable price
@@ExpiredBren Check out Cuong Dang in Garden Grove CA for reasonable Leica repair too. He just CLA'd my M3 and is now working on my iiia.
I see porta 400 for $25/roll shipped to Canada! You hopefully can grab enough rolls for a couple years
This is one of the top five videos I've seen on RUclips EVER!!!
@@MorganBallardWheeler I’m glad that you liked it!
Was very hyped for the video, since you told me about this find. Awesome video as always and even greater finds!
I will have my hands full dealing with these once I'm back in California!
Very cool! Glad it was supporting a charity shop, it probably saved them so much time. Hope you enjoy restoring these gems as much as you did finding them. Congrats and cannot wait to see more. 🎉
I’m definitely looking forward to digging into these and looking through the lenses in particular
Dude that is so awesome!
Very clean content and nice to watch (:
The biggest haul I ever had was $400 for a trunk full of cameras and inside of it was a 4x5 monorail, 2 Yashica 124g's, 2 canon AE-1s, and a bunch of random canon lenses and an assortment of darkroom equipment.
That’s one helluva haul! Surprisingly this lot of gear included zero medium format cameras
I'm not sure if it's because people see the size of them and just snag em instantly, or they're just rare to find but I raaaaarely find medium formats when on the hunt :P@@ExpiredBren
Congrats on the haul! I have the Nikon 50mm/1.4 and adapt it onto my digital camera I love it so much.
I’ve just picked up thirty cameras from a house clearance, I don’t envy your cleaning, checking and listing this lot!
Best of luck with your camera haul! Three months later and I've made some steady progress on the lot
I feel jealous? Yesssss. Enjoy them!!!!!!
Dude that box of rangefinders is the best part of this haul! Great find!!
I just can’t believe that somebody would donate a box like that to the Salvation Army. I reckon those sorts of things happen every once in a while
That must have been some old lady who thought:”Mmmm, old camera. I’ll just give it to the SA.” You lucky sob!
That IIIc is 1949 according to my guidebook. Excellent haul.
5:47 I can just tell you thought that was a full hasselblad body when you first opened the bag 😂
I thought the same thing too😅 I would’ve cried on the spot
That was really fun to watch! Some great finds, Congrats!
I'm glad that you enjoyed the video man!
Aren't you the wise son. Your mother is so proud of you. Kudos Dude!
The Robot Royal was an insane score! I do have a Rolleiflex so I’ll have to remember that tidbit about the bag
oh I think this is one of your best videos bro, I hope to see your repair videos
Amazing video. The Leica can most definitely be bought back to life.
What an amazing haul! I’m stuck fighting with others at estate sales for camera cause I feel like 1/3 people in Portland shoots film lol
Oh yeah that’s both the curse and blessing of camera hunting in a city like Portland. Many more cameras, but many more eyes!
That's a great haul! That one Maxxum you pulled out is the 9000, the first pro-body Maxxum. And that Polaroid Pro Pack is a Type-100 pack film camera; they're a little meh.
Great video. Thank you

Im glad I found your channel. Looking forward to watch your uploads, new and old. Keep em coming. Best regards from Sweden
Always loved your channel. Now I love your currency conversion even more!
Suffice to say my brain makes the same currency conversion about 20 times a day 💸
You made a deal brotha, the cameras which are broken you can sell for parts people use for decoration if they're not fixable and the camcorders put em on ebay they gonna sell, folks nowdays are experimenting alot recording in mini dv for that 90s look.
It took me by surprise to see how popular the old camcorders are these days!
I saw the reddit post yesterday and today RUclips recommendations gives me your video. Algorithm working it's finest😂
Woahhh thats insane! Such a gold mine. Great video!
Good result the Leica is nice once it’s had a cla but that Nicca looks mint top camera
Great video! Any interesting Minolta lenses? Auto or Manual focus. I’m looking for a 35mm 2.8.
I haven’t spotted my 35mm lenses yet, but there are a few 28mm lenses
Holy hell! That was a bonkers level haul
Hopefully both you and Quinn can relish with me in the splendor!
What a pleasure to watch! Thanks for sharing :)
I couldn't understand your valuation at the end there, what range of value do you predict on these?
Value wise I went with the middle of the road for each camera, or going off of what I've sold the same model for in the past. Of course there's a lot of extra lenses, accessories, unforeseen issues, taxes, and such that remain to be factored in.
Because most of what I would make from this will go straight back into my photography, I cut to straight to the chase and converted the value to how much film I could get in exchange.
Gotta love the SRTs from the Mind of Minolta
Such great cameras, and a killer offering of lenses to boot
Love that Zeiss icon
Watch for bed bugs in that mess of bags. I'd chuck all of those.
Fun video! Do you repair these and then sell them?
Most of my repairs would have to be fairly rudimentary, but I do have a fair bit of experience now working with lenses. I would be selling them
Where do you get portra for 13$???
Crazy find here. Always looking for hauls like this.
This is really weird it just popped up on my for you page when a few hours ago I saw your post on Reddit
Same, gotta love that al gore rythm 🎉
I enjoy the hell out of digging through shit like this. Great finds, too. I have too much surplus junk that I don't want and can't sell otherwise I'd be buying lots all the time.
Do you have an eBay store or will you be posting on reddit? Looking forward to getting a chance at some of these, if you do sell!
You're so lucky man, congratulations!
NICE!! May I ask where you like to sell your finds like these? Thanks!
typically on eBay. Otherwise I usually sell the cheaper SLRs and Polaroids locally, as there are a lot of local college students who like to use both.
Dang that's a wild haul. Any interesting stocks in the expired rolls?
Mainly Gold 200 and Fuji Superia. Since these rolls sat in a hot warehouse for years I’ll be curious to see how they held up
@@ExpiredBren they don’t call you Expired Bren for nothing
I've been looking for a decent Minolta SRT 101. My dad had one and it was the camera he let me use when I started getting interested in photography in 1970.
They are great cameras! A lot of them tend to have issues nowadays, but that’s definitely not on account of build quality
Woah ... I too sometimes buy a box or two with multiple cameras from auctions, but 130 on one run - that would occupy me half a year to clean and/or repair and then sell them all. This was fun just to see what you uncovered!!
I’m glad that you enjoyed the video!
Do you still those now?
I wish I was you right now! I also happen to be a camera collector!
Being a camera collector has been more of a curse than a blessing for me, that’s for sure😂
dude this video is so sick. keep going 8)
Awesome find, your gamble really paid off!
This is a perfect tie into my video " How I got 7 Camcorders for Free" ;)
Hi yall.
I want to start my photo and video journey, and to start it im thinking about buying myself a Fujifilm S7000 finepix. If anyone has it, is it ok in terms of video and photo quality as a starting point?
I got a 1955 Zeiss Ikon Contaflex II for $30. It works great!
That's great that it still works! From what I've seen most tend to have a sticky shutter at the least.
@@ExpiredBren it was obviously cared for. The leather case it came in has come apart at all seams, but he camera it's self, not a scratch or ding. Only the film will be able to tell how bad the insides are. The shutter and mirror work perfectly, from my inexperienced hands.
I can imagine the aroma of those old camera bags with metallic and leatherette scent. I'm too deep in this hobby lol.
lol you and I both😂

I list most of my stuff on eBay since there’s a buyer/seller guarantee
Loved the post on Reddit. $4.61 at a thrift store
Don't sleep on the contaflex brooooo
nice dude, some great finds!!
I felt insanely lucky to say the least!
I brought 40cameras for 80Us dollars at Hyderabad including Kodak Polaroid.
this mfer out here living my literal dream
Nice Dexter hat 🤞🏽
Lmao i saw the reddit post and now yt suggests it to me
That Nikon bag that looks semi-like Bellingham should get you $35-50
That’s good to know!
That's just so cool man, congrats!
I love not knowing how much its worth because it was decided to convert the value into a random film that has varying prices across countries
Algorithm won today. I saw you on reddit, then yt. Good video btw.
Strong Envy ... lucky bastard :)
I definitely lucked out!
Nice haul! If the Geiger counter works, you can use it to measure radioactivity in old thoriated lenses.
I do have a few Takumars that I’d love to test out!
this is nuts
holy film stan
Saw this on reddit a couple days ago
Yooo let me buy that corduroy bag from you
It’s pretty trashed, as it was homemade, but I’ll see if I can find it in the pile
Should have picked a random digital camera from a bag and gone right on with the show.
I did have time to list one right after making this and it sold for about 7 Portra 400’s👍
Looks like my garage!!! lol
I keep on making purchases like this my garage will be all cameras and no yard equipment!
this is so cool
The USD currency equivalence for your total MF Portra 400 roll estimate would be about what, $5,000? Not that it matters!
I reckon it depends on where one gets their Portra from. The main place I buy from sells if for a tad cheaper, so it comes out to a little less than that
i thought about working at a thrift store just for this lol
Damn :) you lucky hope you have good funw ith them and make your money back
That one single leica iii could make up at least 300 usd
Let alone the Summitar, so long as it cleans up well
