  • I really get into the ABC's of pitching and flipping heavy cover! The different size weights, the right hook and the extremely important snell knot where the hook point rotates up 100% of the time! This is power fishing for huge bass in the very heaviest cover!

    The best tip in advanced angler for flipping braids in Florida ,90%use snell for matts. However, we have tons of phosphate pits full of grass but sometimes the big fish get on big laydowns along the banks . When they do use a Palomar knot and you'll get hung up way less.
    Hope it helps.

    Thank you Mr. Martin for showing how to tie that knot. I always enjoy your tip videos. Can you make a video about what the best lures or baits to use during the fall and winter. I’ve been very discouraged the last several times fishing, I feel like I’ve tried everything but the fish don’t seem to want to bite. Even at the few places I go to where I know there is fish. Is it the weather? I’ve even tried to keep it simple and fish with a senko worm, that always catches them but recently just no luck.

    First off Thank you for all the "How Too" videos. I am taking copious notes on all your videos. My Question is this, can I use the Snell knot on my 7'3" Med/Hvy rod all the time or is it best just while fishing in heavy cover. I ask because I only have 3 casters, on your advice, and would like to set it up the right way for better all around fishing. Thanks again

    Mr Martin, if a 7' mf spinning rod says on the rod, 6-12 lb test required line strength. Does that apply lets say to 15# and above braid, or is line diameter? 20# braid would fall in 6# mono category.

    • @RolandMartinOutdoors
      @RolandMartinOutdoors  3 года назад

      It's hard to follow your question but I would put 15# braid on that rod!

    • @slougo5909
      @slougo5909 3 года назад

      Thanks for reply. Sorry about clarification of question. I was referring to the line size printed on a rod, I.e. 6-12 lb is that diameter or line strength? Would 15# braid be to heavy a strength.
