Peace at last -it only took 150 years , and many millions of lives . The British and Germans marching together . Please raise a glass to the union of our nearest relations , the Germans , and we their natural brothers in arms . God Save the Queen .
peter clive God bless you , i will raise my glass hoping on a neverending friendship between our glorious Countries , long live Great Britain , long live Germany
Oh come on, get your history right. If it wasn't for the Germans in 1714 the Royals would have had to drag up some relatives from the South Pacific or deepest Africa to continue with someone. Furthermore Kaiser Wilhelm II and King George V were cousins deriving from Queen Victoria I, unable to stop WW I . And thanks to this coward Farrage the 2 nations are drifting apart again by Brexit.
i think to see these two bands marching together shows we have strong links if the prussians under blucher had not arrived to support wellington at waterloo on the 15th of june 1815 the outcome might have been differnt we owe the prussian guards regiments and cavalry were at waterloo our eternal gratitude and the valour of our own troops and the kings own german leigon too i say the germans are our kinfolk and i am proud the musikkorps der bundeswher march with our guards regiments i hope thi will happen again and again GOD SAVE THE QUEEN
There was a time, well within living memory, when a German military band marching down The Mall would have been a most horrific sight for the people of Britain!. Now we welcome it and Brexit or no Brexit, are happy for the peace and freedom it symbolizes.
Thanks for uploading. First time I've heard 'To Your Guard'. It sure grows on you after a couple of plays. Really good. And also good to see our German friends on parade in London as well, with the Grenadiermarsch. Both pieces a delight to hear.
Awesome.....I have enough trouble keeping time and playing marches let alone having to march in time also. Truly brilliant musicians in their own right.
I wonder if the sound has the same effect on civvies as it does me? I was born into the army, this is the music I grew up with, including the shouting of the commands. I get a lump in my throat and I weep from joy and price. I'm an old lady now but I will *always* be a soldier's daughter and my family will always be the army.
Great to see two fantastic military bands our Guards & the German concert band , okay not in Bright uniforms, but they don't make the musicians, the music does fantastic ,& the German forces like our lads lasses fighting terrorists, bless all of them & for once All forget 1930s 40s hell l'm bloody 67 wasn't born then & l'm a proud Royal Anglian Regt Drummer 1960s late 70s , let's hope no more cuts to our forces ,we only have a few Band & Drums left sad , so enjoy what we have & our German friends great cheers
Fantastic music ,as for Goose stepping Germans, that's the past thank God , their Young service men & women , don't need the past thrown at them , about time we ,did the same our service men women ,like them went born then , so like me l'm ex Royal Anglian Regt Corp of Drums , born 1949, l have more to dislike the l.R.A, than some young Germans, l love the music , be proud of them they are like our lads lasses, great musicians, they are fighting terrorism like us, plus they have great flute marches , well they do.
The Massed Bands of the Guards Division step off along Birdcage Walk to 'To Your Guard' by WT Hughes and march down Horse Guards Road to 'Sarafand' by George Wilcocks.
Good Evening Peter Eames here To Your Guard is sounding great in the above Video clip what I wish to know is what are the other Marches Played by The German Band & The Massed bands of the Guards Division as They March to Horse Guards Parade
You can't beat a military Band for precision timing ;No matter which Band of the Armed Forces or which ever countries military band it is from ;Just Great....
Questions: 1. What is the history or tradition of Epaulets worn by most European military bands? 2. I noticed that a couple of the bandsmen in the ranks wearing swords. Is that a rank thing?
Totally agree. We need to hear more recorders, triangles, even melodicas, waldzithers, kazoos, bouzoukis, alphorns, lures and other exotic instruments to create new harmonies to attract musical connoisseurs from all over the world. Make England sustainable again for the time after Brexit. If tourism fails... Good night !
"And don't dictate to us till you are marching down Whitehall, and even then we won't listen" British Ambassador to Switzerland talking to german foreign minister in June 1940
I have to say I much preferred the German marching music from World War II and also the goose-step was far more impressive unfortunately after World War II the German Armed Forces had to become more politically correct!! Now where have we heard that lately or yes the European Union!!
It was an order of the Allied Forces in Germany in 1955 which gave the new German Army the restriction to cut off their prussian military traditions. This is why the Bundeswehr looks more modern then the British Army today.
The style of march you refer to was only used past the saluting base and then not by all units. The East German NVA stuck to the Prussian tradition more than the BW. You could always go to Moscow and watch the Russian Army use it in a somewhat different way.
Just following the cliches, British Tourism demanded for their pageantry. Or did you want them to play something in a James Last style, a little gay with swinging hips...?
Weak uniforms. From the waist up it's like they're neutered. Can't they channel something more "military"? C'mon! The 1/2 German in me wants to see something 50% more ballsy! :)
AMAZING to see britains and Gemrnas march together !! I LOVE IT ! greetings from germany
+BattleBooms Lp wurde auch Zeit......
Still somewhat sticks in your throat, German's marching in London.
BattleBooms Das sind Brüder, sie gehören beide der Germanischen Völkergruppe.
Why?
Ich liebe es, die Armeen der Welt friedlich vereint durch die Musik miteinander verbunden zu sehen

This is something we can be truly proud of. Marching through European capitals as guests and friends. If only we did parades :-/

The French were getting slaughtered before the Prussians arrived anyway.

The German Army marching down the streets of London. Only took them 70 years. Some of the old lads must have freaked out.
2:50 - 3:25 so incredibly unreal...
I've viewed this many times. And it is one of my favorites! Makes me want to visit England once again. Keith

Awesome.....I have enough trouble keeping time and playing marches let alone having to march in time also. Truly brilliant musicians in their own right.
Thank you so much for sharing this Beautiful Parade.
It's the Fredericus Rex Grenadier March......
Good to see the massed bands and the crowd enjoying the day .
Sois geniales, muy profesionales, en encantan las marchas. Un saludo! Gracias.
These are the best Versions of stay on guard an Fridericus Rex Grenadier Marsch so far.
i just love this stuff...WOW !
Enjoyed the German band's 'jingling johnnies' .They'd be a fine addition to the very impressive Guard's bands.

I was waiting for the German band to break into the theme from 'Battle of Britain'.
The Luftwaffe March
The military Bands from Great Britain played the Luftwaffe March too ;).
*Friedericus Rex Grenadier March
Sam F
Guy Willoughby It isn't a German march - it was composed by Ron Goodwin ,an Englishman, for the film "Battle of Britain."
I love it to see the english troups and the german one. #Heeresmusikkorps are very nice. I'm a Jägerfeldwebel but thats very cool.
My favorite bands!!
The Massed Bands of the Guards Division step off along Birdcage Walk to 'To Your Guard' by WT Hughes and march down Horse Guards Road to 'Sarafand' by George Wilcocks.
Très belles musiques.......
Oui je suis entièrement d'accord.......
Beautifully done!
At least it wasn't a Wermacht band! Good to see the Massed bands of both British and German armies on parade together.
perfect performance from the german music corps...who is this heerermusikkorps ?
I´m german and I would like to know the name of the first piece the redcoats played in the begining.
Good Evening Peter Eames here To Your Guard is sounding great in the above Video clip what I wish to know is what are the other Marches Played by The German Band & The Massed bands of the Guards Division as They March to Horse Guards Parade
Peter Eames The March played by the German Musikkorps is "Ferdericus-Rex-Grenadiermarsch"
kxz
how on earth did we brits ever go to war against the germans! great people!
You can't beat a military Band for precision timing ;No matter which Band of the Armed Forces or which ever countries military band it is from ;Just Great....
Hello from Germany! What´s the titel of the first song the English soldiers play? Does anyone know?
Questions: 1. What is the history or tradition of Epaulets worn by most European military bands? 2. I noticed that a couple of the bandsmen in the ranks wearing swords. Is that a rank thing?
PS to last please what are the marches their drummers & flutes play before each march ?????
British marches have a little beautifully haunting quality to them. they make one reflect on things somehow
The German band playing in good form this day.
@Deutsch Effekt... was redest du denn da für eine beleidigende Scheise????
Happy to see they played their way down. In 2014, when I was there, they walked down to no music.
Wish they could have shown the Brits some of them' Prussian traditions :(
The sound could be greatly improved if they cut the trombone and percussion sections in half. They have the idea they are the only ones in the band
+Mutt Jeff Kerley You must be joking! They are excellent as they are thank you!
+Mutt Jeff Kerley Percussions are an important part of German marches. So, no cutting in half the percussions section.

Benx303 you are right!
Brillante!
So awesome!!!!
Super thanks.
Welcome...
Oh how we could have got together.. the rest of the World would have been under our bootheels...
I am a german soldier
Excellent Guards bands but the German Army band is not quite like the German Army bands of old! It's missing the martial beat. It's been detuned!
Loved the glockenspiel.
+vanman243 Nice sound...... in german we say " Lyra " ......
On K we had 17 glockenspiels in our high school band. You just don't see a lot them in the U.S. anymore.
Too heavy. Try the Australian "Lagerbone" instead.
hehe Glockenspiele hehe
These guys humble me.
The purpose of showing videos on RUclips is for enjoyment, and not for a damned twisted history lesson from you, Edohiguma.
Is this done every day
Prefer the Prussian/German marches to the British in all honesty
"And don't dictate to us till you are marching down Whitehall, and even then we won't listen" British Ambassador to Switzerland talking to german foreign minister in June 1940
Prob not a good idea to mess wid UK and German soldiers!
Fredericus Rex!
I have to say I much preferred the German marching music from World War II and also the goose-step was far more impressive unfortunately after World War II the German Armed Forces had to become more politically correct!! Now where have we heard that lately or yes the European Union!!
You know they still use the Same Marching Music? Most of the Music was written in pre 1900.
It was an order of the Allied Forces in Germany in 1955 which gave the new German Army the restriction to cut off their prussian military traditions. This is why the Bundeswehr looks more modern then the British Army today.

Light infantry and bands never used the goose step...
The goose step was abolished in the German army BEFORE WW2.
what no goose step?
the Germans look more like a civilian marching band.
A few less beers in the German band would help :)
A few less beers would help you to understand.
lol Bundeswehr marching in britain but not in Germany. Ridiculous...
Why didn't the bundeswehr play some good ol' proud Prussian marches? Not to scare the brits?
They are marching here all the time you just have to know where to look and
Just following the cliches, British Tourism demanded for their pageantry. Or did you want them to play something in a James Last style, a little gay with swinging hips...?
David hEIDSEMAN The Frederikus Rex Grenardiermarsch ist not prussian?
dude this song is the march Fredericus Rex which is about Friedrich the Great of Prussia.
Weak uniforms. From the waist up it's like they're neutered. Can't they channel something more "military"? C'mon! The 1/2 German in me wants to see something 50% more ballsy! :)
they sucks marching, needs some goose steps...
Great performance! What tune do the British play? Or which march?
