Why do you keep making videos of wrx lights if you aren't selling them? I love your vids but come on man.... if your making them and showing video of it, you're selling them to someone!
It's what I want to do bro. I want to make videos that let people know this stuff is possible. I want to sell courses that teach the step by step, and I want to bless different friends and the occasional patron with my form of art. If that means that doing what I want upsets a few people because they can't throw money at me and tell me what to do, I'm ok with it. I appreciate that they want to get the stuff I make, but it's my call where my efforts go, and the first dude waving cash at me, isn't my priority. I'm also kind of a dick, and i hate when people tell me what to do, lol, a definite character flaw that I struggle with.
@@flyryde Well you certainly have the skills to make a business out of it. It's just hard seeing video of good stuff being made for our car and not being able to buy it! Lol. It's like torture!
Haha, it’s not torture dude. Paying me thousands of dollars to do something that costs me a day and less than 100 dollars of parts and materials. That’s just not something I want to do for a living after 10 solid years of full time doing it. I’m ready for a much more stable and fruitful career using technology and my other natural talents. But yeah, doing stuff like this since 2003 has made it easier to pull off cool shit. Someone will take the info I put out, get better at it then me, and offer it to customers for a fraction of what my time is worth to me. That’s the plan anyway 👍
I have watched lots of ur videos and really like how u explain and do things. Already bought 2 xtra sets of tails, I have a GR Subie. Did lots of black on the inside but now may diffuse the brake light. Thx for the idea 😊👍
I start watching your channel maybe year and a half ago. It was inspiration for me and now I'm actually starting doing that stuff here where i live. Hey i even made my own switchback sequential turn signal module from scratch 😂
I like the diffused.. I think if you want a less spotty diffused look you can put a second diffuser inside.. A piece of media blasted acrylic along the inside of that stock lens.. I am doing that technique on my side markers to diffuse then more. Excited to see the build on throtl and happy that you and your family are safe and covid free.. Stay safe bro
personally the frosted looks much better, but possibly swap your blasting media for a finer particle, should leave a "cleaner" frosted look. but either way both look dope. Still looking for ideas for a 2017 Equinox if anyone got suggestions
Man i just felt in love with the frosted taillight. I have been looking for taillight and headlights for my wrx something that stands out and this is something that i would love to see on my car, unfortunately i cant get it and i am not able to do but man i love what you have done with the taillights.
This is awesome. What media did you use to blast the c bar lens? I have a small media blaster from harbor freight from when i walnut blasted my intake valves so i’m wondering if I could use that to achieve the same effect. Thanks! Learning a lot from your videos. My corsomotion sequencer just came in so i’m ready to dive in to the world of custom lights! Most i’ve done is a blacked out headlights with diode dynamics switchback c-light.
I've been a fan of the frosted tail lights since dodge put them on the challenger. i have 96 mustang tail lights and i want to frost them and add square cob LED panels inside...but I'm having a crazy time trying to get them open without the lens melting😕
The science with light diffusers is evident with cloudy headlights. Over time lenses on your headlights get cloudy from sunlight exposure. That cloudiness essentially is a light diffuser, and that it does is ruin that nice sharp bright beam pattern and spreads the light out in many different directions. That’s why a lot of older cars with terrible headlights are almost blinding is because that diffuser is shooting the light directly in your eyes. It can also reduce brightness by as much as 80 percent. That’s why the diffused lens appears dimmer, but can be seen from more angles. The tail lights aren’t as big of a deal if there’s a diffuser on them. So it’s your choice. Do you want the lights to look very uniform and clean, but with reduced brightness? Or do you want as bright as can be, but makes it look very spotty?
How would u recommend getting a 100% diffused look from something like that? I see the new Dodge charger tail lights compared to the 2014 and below models and it's got completely diffused tail lights You can't even see the individual LEDs.. The same for the newer Ford explorers and BMWs and I'm wondering how that works
Once again, good vid.👍 But PLEASE use soda or fine garnet or anything other than sand. Super dangerous, especially when blowing off residual fine dust.
We had a pretty good discussion today on the live stream about me giving people ideas and spending time helping people decide what to do to their lights. That will be the topic of an upcoming video, so stay tuned 🙏
That’s badass! Any idea what the process for frosting plastic parts like this called? Im looking to get this done to my C light covers, I know you don’t sell any of this but could you point me in the right direction?
Hoping someone responds I just purchased a clear lense replacement for my 16’ wrx taillights (stock) going for pure clear wondering if someone has frosted them and if the stock red leds are bright enough for daytime
Love your videos, I'm a fan of your work. I would prefer the frosted one. I have a question about evo final edition headlights. These lights have a groove arround the projector and there not a full circle. They are perfect for halos. However I don't know what size of halos would fit. Looking into RGB halos. Can you help?
If the back of the lens is smooth, you could probably just use sandpaper. Low enough grit to frost the plastic, but high enough to not leave visible scratches. I’m thinking 400 or 800 grit would do the trick.
do u think you could 3d print some lens covers for leds ? i might have a go at it for some motorbike lights at some point'! i still have 2 ghost controllers to use that i brought years ago :)
@@flyryde awesome! I will keep you posted with the progress :) you could make good use out of a 3dprinter that's for sure weather it be fdm printing witch is basically melting plastic layers together or sla printing witch uses resin and a light to cure it with much better quality and detail :)
I can do this same build for the low low price of your stimulus check, and half a year waiting lol 🤦♂️ no no, just playing... it’d take me way longer than that 🤣🤣

Chris, I prefer the diffused version. Excellent work!
excited 😉
Frosted looks cleaner IMO. Great work either way!
When the lights off the frosted looks amazing. The clear lens is obviously brighter, but both look really good
Doood, I keep thinking the same thing every time I see em!

You got me so motivated to try to modify my taillights thank you so much for showing how you do things! Just subscribed keep up the great work dude!

diffused! great video man
Hey in one of your other videos you have the C light fully filled in from the corner to the end. How do I do that?
Right every time looks more unique and prestige awesome 😎
Love the frosted
Why does the colours like orange? It should be still red (for brakelamp), right?
The right looks dope
Thanks man! I just posted a poll on the community tab so we can count the votes :)
Frosted!!!

how did you take out the red lenses on the side? to make it clear?
I like both, but like the brightness of the clear 1s.
I soooo want more people to say they like clear better, even though I've been kinda swayed by the diffused look more and more now, lol.
@@flyryde It does look a little better when they are in motion. Like one solid line of light.
waou nice the frost one look good. What he name of u cabinet for make it " frosted " ?
Are those black parts painted black or did you do you degreaser trick on them for this? I love how they look.

Can we blast both side or it’s recommended to blast just the back?

I have the 2017 OEM STI's and I need something like that. Let me know how I can do it because I live in Pennsylvania.

why did you paint the reverse light reflector !
Got an NV200 nissan van would love your ideas on front and back lights

Frosted. Working to see how to frost my Q50 eyebrows.
I definitely want to start doing videos like this for all kinds of cars, headlights and tails. That Q50 is a popular one to do.
