In the Rangasthalam scene which was showed in the podcast, Ram Charan gaaru picked up a log with fire and walks. The camera is placed right aside him walking along. See, while shooting with something like Fire, which glorifies the light around, one should have technical knowledge of the camera. The ISO and Shutter speed etc. Clearly, Mr. Rathnavelu has done an exceptional work. One of the reasons I like Rangasthalam is the cinematography. Thanks for this podcast guys.
Terrific interview... Once MB said that Rathnavelu is one of the top 3 cinematographers in India. Two things are quite evident. Apart from his love for cinematography, his love for his directors and his guru.
At this point I can say these guys have worst cinema knowledge, He mentioned some of the guys he spoke to said Oppenheimer is not good(it says more abt him as they are his friends). Seriously if you really know film making and physics, you will know what a masterpiece of film it is 🤷🏻♂️
All great cinematographers he has mentioned 🙏👏. And also we should follow Greg Fraser, amazing cinematographer! Ratnavelu sir's work is amazing. Eager for his next works
Incredible content boys, it honestly feels so nice to get some perspective on something that most film watchers, usually, are not conversant with. Cinematography as an aspect should be a lot more relevant than it currently is during a film's assessment. Especially in india where it tends to get sidelined by other aspects.
Problem in ROBO DESERT song is ( Nive valapu...) , we can see the entire DOP team in Rajni Sir's OAKLEY glasses including camera ...please check ... In Indian movies why do we see those white light bouncing boards / Lights / light reflectors ... check that movie song (int he desert once again)...
Get actor and director Ravi Babu ...he makes movies in one color or shade and makes all different movies and how he can make movies in studios and very much engaging and no lag...also all his movies look like US make with Telugu actors kind...
Its a shame listening this... even though we know just lil how great the cinematography in rangasthalam and others... but what the thought process and decisions made to express their story... because we dont have such departments not being spoken on media as a class or full discussion for us or students... we dont know the greatness of our country s huge ocean of work they put and pull it out.. just awards is not enough..
