So many memories, I was 9 years old, playing Starcraft. I sucked badly, but I payed attention to the story as much as I could. And I loved it. Now I'm here to relive it :)
Oh man, watching you use Raynor to actually fight made me so anxious. I always have Raynor under heavy guard at my base because I'm terrified of him accidentally getting killed.
Actually, Raynor is a really super OP unit. He has 300 HP and can one shot a Zergling. He's also repairable, which means that for the most of the campaign he's very hard to kill. The only things you really have to worry about with Vulture Raynor are air units, Sunken Colonies and Ultralisks. He deals really well with the rest. I only left Raynor in my base for the last mission, only because by then I made a force reliable heavily on Battlecruisers squads and Science Vessels to support them with detection and Defensive Matrix, so ground units are useless in this scenario. Marine Raynor is even better in StarCraft. Marine Raynor is actually the most OP unit in the entire game. I'm not joking. He's very vulnerable in Original because you don't have an access to Medics, but with Brood War, oh boy. In Brood War Raynor you can just as well call him Rambo, because with right healing and stim packs he can alone raze entire single settlements, not joking, there is a bonus Nintendo 64 mission with Raynor, Taldarin and Infested Stukov, and it gives you both Raynor and Medics, and he's so powerful that you can just leave the rest of your force behind and just solo it with only Raynor, Medics, Taldarin, and maybe some Ghosts from time to time to lockdown Siege Tanks. And don't get me even started on Hyperion Raynor. He maybe doesn't kill stuff as fast as Marine Raynor, but got he's tough as shit. 4 SCV, Defensive Matrix and Hyperion just nukes everything.
@Jordan McNamee well tbh on the CRT 4:3 screens we had back then the graphics looked really good and the game was so well made you could play it online over dialup.
I have never played Starcraft 1 and only the tutorial to Starcraft 2, so I don't have any nostalgic connections to this. But MAN, seeing the first few minutes of this is stunning! The intro cinematic, the main menu theme and you getting thrown into a space story like this! It is an INCREDIBLE presentation! Especially for a game that is now more than 20 years old! Safe to say that I am very impressed. And also a bit sad that I didn't have this when I grew up, because kid me would've loved it!
My older brother would play this when he was in high school. I remember (age about 7-8) all the sounds and I defects from standing there watching all this. 16 years ago
Kerrigan: "...you pig!" Raynor: "What?! I haven't even said anything to you, yet!" Kerrigan: "I know, but you were thinking it." Raynor: "What? Oh, yeah, fine, you're a telepath! But can we just get on with this already?" Kerrigan: "Right..." -= -*-years later, in Starcraft 2-*- =- Me: "..."
This game was soo kewl. I remember playing this when I was young. The music is excellent, and that woman's voice that sounds like an android or something is awesome. I miss these types of games. I wish they made something like this for a console like the playstation or xbox. I want to get this game again. I never played the sequel, but this one was soo good. Thanks for posting the gameplay for this game. It brings back alot of memories lol
built a pc, made the switch from console last week, tried starcraft2, got hooked, now downloading the original game, can't wait! I know its not going to blow me away visually but don't care the games amazing
I remember playing this for hundreds of hours when this came out. I was fifteen. We had a computer in the basement with a giant ass tube screen. One of the best games ever made. I miss blizzards golden age. Giant greedy profit crazed companies have destroyed so many games, but destroying blizzard is one of the biggest travesties. Back then blizzard games were literally magical.
marcraider That is great to hear, but there are technicality aspects that is difficult to translate from 2D to 3D. I look forward to a real effort, remaster SC1 in 2D.
+AmyBohemi Yknow whats weird? I know lots of people, my family included, who all thought they had Pentium III around then but actually had Pentium II. Maybe there was false advertising or misinformation around that time?
+AmyBohemi Yeah. Intel didn't release the 800 MHz Pentium III until December 20, 1999. It cost $851 (US dollars), and that was the price in 1000-unit quantities. To buy just one at that time would have cost even more.
1998 spec PC was my first, I remember it being SiS 6326 graphics with 2MB VRAM, Pentium II with 350 MHz, 16 MB SDRAM and 4GB HDD. Can run Starcraft just fine.
Do you wanna piece of me, boy? Do you wanna piece of me, boy? Do you wanna piece of me, boy? Do you wanna piece of me, boy? DO YOU WANT A PIECE OF ME, BOY? Well, DO YA?!!!!!!
u can experience it again in HD... there's a mod called starcraft recall and it's exact recreation of starcraft campaigns... I'm currently playing and i'm nostalging all over the place! :D assuming u got SC2...
Eh, I remember playing it as 5-year old, it was in english so I didn't understand the plot at the time, the pirate copy didn't include any cinematics. Also I sucked at the game and mostly replayed the same missions over and over
you mean league of legends? ehh, league is 3d,starcraft 2d,i would care less about the graphics but i dont think you could compare those 2 as they are much different in year, you could mostly compare it by red alert 2 in graphics
well I´m playing yet satrcraft1 expansion set .. a impossible level with zerg against terrain and Protoss ... its impossible to win this campaingn .. I tried all possibilitys ... Eliminate the terrains but the protoss is impossible we have no cristals to make more units to play ... they have always mioney to attack contínuos even with no more cristals ... I think this campaign with zerg is not to win ... Protoss never stop to attack
So many memories, I was 9 years old, playing Starcraft. I sucked badly, but I payed attention to the story as much as I could. And I loved it. Now I'm here to relive it :)
Same :,)
I'm like that with C&C, I've never really played SC.
I swear the music in this game is better than the sequel's.
Sounds like the 90s, was that when this game was made?
Hey Minet Mann, do you have any idea how to make them talk like here 3:23 because it doesn't work for me, is there something I should turn on ?
RobertRo Unfortunately, I have no idea, I only have the sequel.
Paul King lets ask blizard to remake starcraft 1
meleklerim benim They are already remaking the first diablo game. So it is likely
we will see a remake of this.

Such a beatiful creation, the best game ever in his class who cares about the graphs? It doesn't make the game.
Childhood is here.
YES :)
@Jordan McNamee well tbh on the CRT 4:3 screens we had back then the graphics looked really good and the game was so well made you could play it online over dialup.
ahhh yes.. memories. close your eyes and listen to it over and over.. you'll feel like you're back in the 90s

You haven’t lived until you’ve played StarCraft 2V2 in 1999 with dial up thru compuserve. What an amazing game!
Masterpiece game,I remember when I saw this game for the first time back in 2000,I was amazed, similar when I saw Valve's Half Life from 1998
Marine: "All right! Let's wax these critters"

MY ADDICTION & MY ANOTHER GUARDIAN & MY BLOODIEST LOVE IS YOU STAAAARCRAFT.
I want to play this in higher resolution, Blizzard should remaster SC1 and brood war.
+MNanme1z4xs I believe they are actually.
+MNanme1z4xs there is a very good mod for SC 2, a complete remake of all campaign from SC 1, Search Starcraft 2 Mass Recall Mod.
marcraider That is great to hear, but there are technicality aspects that is difficult to translate from 2D to 3D. I look forward to a real effort, remaster SC1 in 2D.
+MNanme1z4xs Agreed
That would take away from the rustic nostalgia. If they do they NNEEEEDD to keep this music
I can't wait to play this again!
Oh man I used to Love Starcraft!!
I love the sound design. I was ž and it was freaking me out :D so misterious
I've been told I used to mess up computers. Kind of a shame, because I wanna download this now that I remember it :)
I haven't played in so long I miss this game
Just bought this can't wait to play it
About 5 hours' HD video, I love it!
The Terran Soundtrack is so based 🔥
Wow, i remember playing it on 32MB GPU, 800MHz Pentium III and 256MB RAM back in 98.
+16thdemon That would have been a pretty descent system für 1998, even more so considering that the Pentium 3 launched in 1999.....
+AmyBohemi

+16thdemon Wow, I had almost the same specs of my PC but the year my family bought it was 2002...
1998 spec PC was my first, I remember it being SiS 6326 graphics with 2MB VRAM, Pentium II with 350 MHz, 16 MB SDRAM and 4GB HDD. Can run Starcraft just fine.
I love the American entusiastic quotes. Same goes for Red Alert 2 😁😀

Funny thing is it’s still better graphics than league.

Best RTS game ever.
I'm thinking, this all game was devoted to rural-american melancholy peoples. I've pushed a like. ("_"). (Like 1.1K; Comm 168; Views 248K)
