It’s not her band, she shouldn’t have a say TBH. Everyone loved Chester but the hard reality is he LEFT them, not the other way around. Mike did an entire tour just honoring his memory, been 7 years. Life moves on folks. I’m happy to see Mike happy again and enjoying life. Think that’s what Chester would want - play music, be happy, continue on

Chester left them? That remains a mystery.... think about it like this.... Emily is part of human trafficking... chester and Chris were about expose a "blackbook" involving certain people.... then they both died by "suicide" . 2 years later they were planning on using emily as lead singer... but didn't because they obviously waited for the dust to settle and boom... here we are 7 years later.... it's just my opinion/theory... dont attack me😅

Well, it has been 11 months and he didn't release a single new song in that time. A lot of one sided arguments in here so let me do my best to be the voice of reason here. Chester's family has every reason to feel upset because that's someone's son and someone's father. They're gonna look at it through a certain view that a band or fans might not look at it as. However, in the words of Chester he said it's Mike band not his. Mike is the one with the vision for the band and Chester was the final piece to the puzzle that made Linkin Park, Linkin Park. Obviously it is never gonna be the same. But it is the bands choice to try to continue LP since they still love making music and got more in the tank instead of it letting it end that way. I think they've done their best to be respectful about it and Chester's legacy. The band has made it clear they're moving on. You don't have to and you can feel the way you do and you have your reasons to feel that way. But just know no matter what, it does not change the fact that this is happening. That's just the reality of it.

I have been searching the interwebs for an hour looking for anything to confirm what you said. Here is what I've found:
      1. The song is about a teenager suffering from the stress of a parent's expectations (NOTHING TO DO WITH SA!)
      2. Yes, Chester's father was granted full custody (usually meaning physical custody) of Chester in his parents' divorce. There is no reason being specified. So, it could have been an amicable decision, it could have been that Chester's father had a higher income and more available time. Winning full physical custody does NOT mean his mother had no visitation privileges and it does NOT mean she was not given joint legal custody!
      3. Chester stated in multiple interviews, he NEVER TOLD ANYONE ABOUT THE SA! That means his mother DID NOT KNOW and, therefore, did not LET him be SA'd. She would be unable to protect him from something she knew NOTHING ABOUT!
      4. Chester CHOSE to go live with his mother when he was 17 years old, seeking her help with his drug and alcohol addiction. No one seeks help like that from someone they do not feel safe with!
      5. The last photo, before Chester's death, of Chester and his mother shows them both smiling and standing close to each other. If Chester hated his mother, why would he pose for the photo with her?
His mother has more of a right to speak on her feelings about Mike breaking his promise to give her a head's up than you have a right to judge her. So, STFU!

@@jjeKKellnot exactly the case, I watched a 2 hour interview the other day and what Chester’s son had to say on this issue was really interesting and I think well educated, especially the points he made about how the music industry is being run by abusers and they want to use LP as well as other artists to uplift a new generation of artists so the abuse can continue and be normalised in the industry and they can make loads of money, typical industry stuff I know, but he just brought a very important aspect of this that not many people are talking about to the table that Warner recently hired like P Diddys lawyer to be the rep of their music section- which raises a thought about whether they are doing the same with Scientologists and perhaps Emily- no clue but just a thought. I’m sure there’s more to the story than that. But yeah interesting if true. Chester’s son also said that he’d be happy if Emily stepped down from Scientology and apologising to the masteron victims in some way, so really the bare minimum to have good PR at this point in time. That would make him feel a bit better about the band as it’s really damaging to everyone to have her singing these songs but also have her a part of the anti mental health cult to say the very least. So I don’t think it is the case that he’s hard to please, just that the band are choosing to ignore the easiest ways out of situations and making it hard to please everyone.

They deserve to move on however they choose. But if they said they’d speak to his family, they should have. I really hope Chester’s remarks to his mom were a one off from some close-proximity band mate angst that seems to happen to a lot of bands. Emily is in no way horrible. But I see how it could be very hard for his mom to hear. She’s his MOM. I don’t even want to imagine what she’s been going through. I WAS torn. I'm not anymore. I'm 1000% behind Linkin Park. Chester's wife replaced him faster than the band did. Mike and the guys always did the most respectful thing when Chester took Chester from this world. That's a thing we should remember. Nobody in Linkin Park got a vote. Linkin Park was still a top 50 band in the world when Chester took his life, and poof, the band was gone. Chester took him and the entire band away from the world. The band played his tribute show, and that was it. Their lives as they knew it ended also. I guarantee it, executives for their label pressured the guys to plug a new singer in Chester's spot and keep going. And they did not. If Linkin Park played for the love of money, that's what they would have done.
6 years go by, and they release that 20th year box set, and the love of the music they made together brought them back. Linkin Park has chosen the right way for the right reasons every step of the way. And I feel like after 7 years, if they are ready to move forward with the new chapter of Linkin Park, then they should.
Does anyone think Chester would want them to never move forward, and never make the beautiful art that band creates ever again? I don't. And if I'm being honest. From the life Chester had in his early years, I don't think Chester's mom has any right to discuss what's right. Don't worry, Mama Bennington, you'll get your money from the art Chester helped create.
A giant step in a healing process, is moving on. And if they're ready, I'm ready. And if you're not, ok. My wife still won't listen to the new song. They may never get their whole audience back. But if they're doing what they love, I'm happy for them.

Although we are in the new era and Chester Bennington’s legacy will always live on, I honestly don’t really blame Chester’s mom and son because to me, Chester Bennington was the glue to Linkin Park just like Kurt Cobain was the glue to Nirvana and rapper Proof was the glue to a rap group called D12 which Eminem used to be a part of. In fact, Nirvana is no more after the death of Kurt Cobain which caused Dave Grohl the drummer of Nirvana to moved on to become the lead singer of his own band Foo Fighters. D12 is also no more after the death of Proof which caused Eminem to leave the group and in 2018, Eminem created a song called Stepping Stone which he used that song to confirm that D12 is officially disbanded and discontinued due to Proof’s death. So in a way, as much as I love Linkin Park, nobody can replace Chester Bennington 100% because he was the heart and soul to the band. Also, Rob Bourdon the drummer of Linkin Park is no longer part of the band since he retired in 2018 after Chester’s death.

Not one Linkin Park fan would ever discount Chester in any song he has sung because Emily is now singing it. There new music won't trump anything they created with Chester. In fact, I believe they were inspired to do it. When I heard the new song The Emptiness Machine, it made my heart happy. When I heard an A.I. cover of it with Chester's voice, it made me believe that he lives on and it sounded so real and amazing! On top of that, I love how everyone is slamming Emily for her past or some of her personal decisions. Most rock stars have skeletons in their closets and even sing about dark evil things. Chester's mom saying that she's replacing Chester is insane but understood because it's such a shock. As a musician myself, the passion to write music is what drove this band to do what it's done so far.
Even if the story is true about Mike wanting to kick him out and get a female singer, nobody plans for death. When a soul leaves this earth like that things change and along with that change comes reinvention of self and Future.
Music is the language we're trying to speak here. Her involvement with the church has absolutely nothing to do with the music. Her involvement with Scientology alone is the only thing that we know. People are going to pull a lot of dirt just to try and out her.

But it wasn't his band there are other memeber of the band. If they wanna go on and continue the band that's there decision not ours be happy that linking park is back playing music that's what I'm happy for. Chester may have been a great singer and all but love to see linking park back doing stuff again🤘🤘🤘

Linkin park was just as much theirs as much as Chester’s and i don’t feel they are trying to erase chester but life goes on. I feel for the family and who knows why they didn’t invite the family but it’s definitely painful memories and even if invited.. would you have accepted?
Chester himself wanted lp to continue with or without him and it’s the decision of lp as artistic musicians. I feel either way and even if approached the family wouldn’t be happy because no one is good enough. This is a new chapter and as all new beginnings it needs to be full of positivity and support.
I’ve heard one song and whilst I don’t agree with the pricing for tickets i still support lp.
Also lp would have never replaced chester with a girl! Not whilst he was with us!
Chester was crying out for help and we all failed him. Including family/those closest with him.

I love Linkin park Chester is an idol I saw them live in 2014 and had tickets for a show when he died but his family punishing the band has gone on too long...
I'm certain it wasn't their choice to lose their frontman, everyone lost when he died their are no winners. His family, his band and the fans.
I'm glad Mike and the rest of the band is continuing on together and not scared to continually evolve like always with any linkin park album people always hate at first but then it grows and grows on you.
Living things is still slept on.

I’m sorry but at any other company if you died, the company would claim dead peasant insurance and then replace you in a week. The band has done plenty of tributes for Chester already including Hollywood bowl, post traumatic, releasing lost, waiting 7 years etc etc. dont forget that he also left the band voluntarily by his own decision.

I don't care about Emily's old drama, her singing the songs is ok, nothing special since no one can replace Chester. That being said, Chester made his choice by ending his life. The band made theirs by moving on and so have I. The original Linkin Park is the only LP I'll listen to.

The band didn't start with Chester, it started with Hahn and Shinoda. People have the right to have their opinion just as much as they have a right to continue LP.

They could continue LP… But just cause you can, doesn’t mean you should. LPs legacy is huge and it would be a shame to ruin it… And it kinda does for me, and I’m sure others as well.
Just shows disrespect towards Chester’s memory, as he was big part of what made LP what it is.
Why not start a new band? If it’s not purely about going on tour making money, and it’s about them wanting to make new music, it shouldn’t be a problem?
They’re a karaoke band now at best.
What a terrible timeline this is.

Any of you thought how hard it must be to go out and play songs your friend sang and is no longer there I am glad to see them back and to see them seem happy I watched the live stream not sure about if I wanted to hear it but glad I did I am Glad Linkin Park is back rock on guys and Emily you rock it girl love you all screw the haters

Fuck everyone complaining about people trying to move forward and keep making music. Everyone wanted to talk shit about every album after Meteora, and are the same ones still talking shit. Jaime practically harassed the dog shit out of Mike with an out-of-this-world sense of entitlement. And grown adults don’t need anyone’s permission to keep making music. We finally get some of Linkin park back, and we still can’t have nice things. Hopefully people don’t senselessly bash the new album like they did the last time Linkin park released a new record.
EDIT: I’m a huge fan of Chester. He has been the biggest inspiration musically and as a person. I literally went and got his flames tattooed on me the day of his passing. You don’t see me upset with Linkin park.

I didn't realize I could feel any further sympathy for Chester, but here I am watching his family completely embarrass themselves with their comments regarding Linkin Park, as LP attempts to move forward and continue to honor Chester. I'm glad that LP was able to be supportive of Chester during his life and also in his memory, as they seem to be the only ones doing so.

What the family members are really upset about is that their meal ticket got taken away from them. Well, they can blame Chester for that one. His fault, not the band’s. They waited 7 years out of respect and mourning. What the hell else were they supposed to do? Chester’s mom and son need to shut their yaps.
