    ANZAC Day was commemorated with respect and dignity in London yesterday. The bells of Westminster Cathedral rang fast and loud for a long time after the church service, in the spring sunshine, many other events took place, many uniformed personnel. The Cenotaph war memorial in Whitehall was busy, I paid my own respects there too to our Commonwealth brothers and sisters, to all. Lest we forget. From a Pom.

      none of our Sf use them lol i dont know why our infantry dont just use M4's

      @theothernorth5652 7 лет назад +10

      dav00ss SASR use M4 because they operate with US SOCOM often, they need a weapon that is cross operated. The F88, is about equal to the M4. But the new EF88 is far superior.

      Superior?? Care to elaborate?

      The actual reason sf wont use the steyr is the bullpup design is not able to be properly fired off hand, also the reload is slower and requires the operator to look down for longer and the mag has to be physically removed rather than just dropped from the rifle. All these add risk to close quarters combat. The longer barrel of the r88 and ef88 in comparrison to the m4 family is more accurate and gives better ballistics at range. Absolutely nothing to do with commonality with us forces or anything else. The drills were tested and timed. The a.r platform came out on top for sf use. Similar reasons the nz defence force have gone to a AR platform for all front line troops this year.

      Mainly because the Steyr F88 didn't perform well in salt water/ maritime environments, the M4 was also modular with picatinny rails for the mounting of a variety of optic sights, lasers, tactical lights, forward grips, and suppressors. It also has a collapsable butt stock able to be adjusted to fit the individual operator. Working with NATO forces also gave the advantage of the M4 using STANAG magazines for interoperability with US SOCOM and other NATO SOF.
      The EF88 is a major improvement on the F88SA2, but it's unlikely that SOCOMD will adopt it. It's still a good choice for battalion infantry, and will perform better in urban operations. When room clearing I think the diggers would probably choose the EF88 over an AR platform like the Kiwi LMT because it is still compact, and now has all the picatinny rails and other improvements the diggers could ask for.

      Uteopia Allows them to time In between bursts more accurately to prevent overheating barrels too quickly and to prevent shooting unnecessarily.

      Uteopia They might alternate between machine guns too to keep up a rate of fire to keep the enemy suppressed without both guns wasting ammo

      “One Thousand” takes about one second to say out loud. In the heat of the moment it’s easy to count to ten in your head in about three seconds. Time slows down a surprising amount when your blood is up.

      They would more likely use the HK416, or possibly the Canadian variant (which I can't remember of the top of my head). Our Commando units (1CDO/2CDO) also use them.

    • @iatsd
      @iatsd 8 лет назад +9

      It lets you time the weapon bursts more accurately so that you can sustain aimed automatic fire instead of overheating barrels or simply spraying and praying the way US forces do.

    • @JustAnotherYtuber
      @JustAnotherYtuber 8 лет назад +6

      What? Alternating machine gun fire/suppressing fire is a basic infantry tactic observed by all militaries. Where is the basis for your argument that US forces do not use such tactics and "spray and pray"? You are aware that English-speaking militaries use virtually most of the same core tactics in one shape or another?

    • @calebhavens9799
      @calebhavens9799 6 лет назад +5

      The US Military does count between shots. It's called "Talking Guns." One difference though is that the US doesn't typically say the counts out loud. I kinda prefer the way the Aussies do it because then everyone knows the speed that's being counted rather than the MG team leader just doing it in his head.

      There are multiple GPMG positions here that the the commander is controlling, he is counting aloud so each team can hear him count and they can time their bursts of fire correctly.
