We’re moving from Ventura because of work. Only here about a year. It’s a real nice town, weather is awesome. People are nice, everything is walkable. I will miss it.
I'm from Scotland but we've visited family in Ventura ever since I was born. Ventura will always have a special place in my heart. It was always so comforting driving in from LAX seeing Two Trees from miles away.
Visited Ventura a few weeks ago and loved the place. The local people were very kind and down to earth and I was impressed by the amount of local businesses on the main strip (as opposed to the usual chains you find in other cities). We were only there for two nights and yet we saw three instances of people being kind and friendly to down-and-out/homeless people in the town. Very cool place!
Moved out years ago. The gangs began to move in and ruined it for families in the neighborhood. Some nice places to visit, but I would not live there again.
I used to live above the porn shop & the Hamilton hotel and that place was a s******* full of meth heads they even did raids on hookers and the guy who ran the hotel was a f****** meth dealer!! We live'd there cuz we had no else to go at the time it's j/ust for a room but it was only 700 bucks and you can't even get rooms that much nowadays!!
Used to go to Ventura high school class of 1987.. have to do a lot of commuting in order to find work I now live in Klamath falls Oregon.. remember when the mall was one level also remember when before the mall was covered.. remember main street was an open street
@@livinginventuracalifornia7227 Ojai is no fun to me, except concerts at Libby Bowl. Ojai is clearly geared towards tourists. Ventura has awesome places to recreate and shop. Most everyone I know shops in Ventura. Good luck parking in downtown Ojai (I can just walk anywhere though)!
I'm an Oxnard native and proud but consider Ventura my hometown because of so many memories and so much time I have invested there. I absolutely love Ventura and it is one of the most beautiful places on Earth. However, the cost of housing is ridiculous.
Schools in the expensive areas ane good, but in cheaper areas totally failing. My son transfered to a santa paula school from our homeschooling, was in a fight in less than 1 month, gangster type thugs in middle school? Local charter schools are much better than the public schools, that's the way to go. Many good charter school in the area but of course , the best have waiting lists.
Big con, high real estate prices. Mobile home cost a 1/2 million bucks. Rents are super high! Property taxes are insane, average home tax for new purchases are over 7k a year. Welcome to LA light!!! The homeless are aggressive and all over downtown.
Thank you, Pablo! I am creating more content about Ventura, stay tuned. Reach out to me any time if there are any specifics you want answered by a local.
You can't overstate the weather here in Ventura. Many travel sites rate our climate the best in the nation. We also have two of the most-scenic roads in America: The 101 Freeway from Ventura to Santa Barbara (also known in song as "Ventura Highway"), and Pacific Coast Highway from Point Mugu south to Malibu and Santa Monica. Ventura's surfing spots, like Mondos, Surfers Point, Surfers Knoll, and Rincon are world-famous. Expensive? Yes. But you get what you pay for. Cowabunga!
I live here and love it as well, but for the vacationer's, careful around the area of main st and rte 33, known as the river bed, it draws alot of homeless and most are meth heads who bum at Vons area.
I was born and raised in Ventura until I moved to Texas a couple of years ago, and lemme tell you, I miss it so much. The beaches (mondos is my favorite) are gorgeous and the boardwalk is very relaxing. And all the activities that occur downtown are the best especially the parades and car shows. I miss it and I hope to come back and visit sometime soon

it is desirable and yet housing is grossly over priced as well as Oxnard and Camarillo. there will be no fair as well as the fair parade this year. i cant make on $17.00 an hour unless i start van dwelling, which will be a reality for me pretty soon.

First, I have to ask - Does RUclips pay youtubers to use that music in videos? It is SO overused, if I hear that damn tune anymore, I am going to gouge my eardrums out. I feel like 1/3 youtube videos on locations use that tune. My opinion on music is just that - an opinion but the same 20 second tune playing over and over while you are speaking is really irritating. Anyway, besides that, thanks for the video, there is some good informative stuff here. I am moving to Ventura for work, I am a single guy so I am going for an apartment for at least the first year while I get a lay of the land. Nobody has done a video going over the apartment complexes in Oxnard/Ventura. I get you make your living by selling houses, but it would be nice if someone did an apartments video, the pros and cons of each. I am leaning towards The Wagon Wheel or Tempo at the moment, looking for new construction within 25 (max 30) minutes of Point Mugu NAS.

It’s a Great place to be from!!! Overpriced. Overcrowded and just a boring town. Grew up there. Never going back. $850k for a 50 year old run down house on Day road. 😂😂😂
I'm super far to the right on the political spectrum. The weather is amazing and there are a lot of high paying jobs, great food, tons of outdoor activities, and the beach. Also, just a fact, because the weather is so nice, people are outside more, thus in better shape overall, and since there is so much good warm weather, on average the women in Cali are much more attractive than the women in say.. Minor ones happen a few times a year but most of them you do not even feel. A big scary one is very rare.
