    I grew up in Ventura on the Avenue from the 60s through the mid 80s. Have family there. It has changed significantly. Not sure all of it for the good. Love going "home"! The weather can't be beat. So many awesome memories. The worst part of visiting Ventura: going back to my current location as the weather here is terrible!

      Yes, homeless has been increasing and we were talking about making a new pros and cons video. However we did talk about homeless at the 9 min marker and how it is moving into the suburbs. In our next pros and cons we will make sure to mention the east end. What part of the east end do you live in? As always we appreciate any insite.. Thank you.

    Do you have any plans to cover real estate in the College neighborhood?

    • @livinginventuracounty1071
      @livinginventuracounty1071  Год назад

      Yes, we plan on covering all of the amazing neighborhoods in Ventura. We have a list to do and will be putting out an overview of all the nieghborhoods this or next week. Then a couple of other places that have been requested. We will put College to the top of the list for the neighborhoods to do in Ventura:). Is there anything you want to know or think we should focus on or showcase? We also are starting a series of interviews with locals if you or someone you know would like to talk about your neighborhood or city:).

      @@livinginventuracounty1071 I look forward toward your covering this neighborhood. I really like it and I am considering moving to this area. Unfortunately, there don’t seem to be many homes for sale in the College neighborhood.

    • @livinginventuracounty1071
      @livinginventuracounty1071  Год назад

      @@KrysP125 We drove to the College neighborhood yesterday and looked at all of the different subdivisions. It is such a special area and has so much to offer. Currently, there are very few homes for sale in all of Ventura County. However, this may change. You probably already know this but it doesn't hurt for others to hear it. The best thing to do is what you have done, find an area you love and find out more about it. When you are about 6 months to a year out start speaking with a mortgage provider and see what you may need to do in order to get a better rate, this way you will have time to improve your credit if you need to. A few points in your credit score can make a big difference in your payments. The mortgage provider can also tell you if it would be best to pay off a credit card so you can qualify for a higher amount. Don't forget to contact us or another real estate agent to start a search for you. That way we were able to watch the market and get a good feel for our price point. An agent is better than looking at Zillow or another site because you can specify what you want, where you want it, and when you receive the information. As well as learning about up-and-coming properties, similar neighborhoods and what is going on with the market in a certain area and price point.
      We started looking in an area and had a search set up for 3 years in 4 different cities that we were able to narrow down the last year to a specific neighborhood before moving here. When the perfect house came up we were already set to go and were able to put an offer on it right away. When you want to live in a certain neighborhood it is best to be ready so that when the house is available you are good to go.
      Once we do the video on the College neighborhood we would love to hear from you and see what you think.

    I lived in Ventura most of my life and never experience such racism as I have in this city when growing up. I have been to many parts of the deep south such as Georgia and Mississippi and yet never experience anything as racist as in Ventura. Ventura has a lot of what we say 'old money' and for the longest time they did not want change. That is why a lot of the big box stores are in Oxnard, Camarillo, and Thousand Oaks. But that is all changing now as the older people that run Ventura are dying off and more middle age adults are moving in.

      We are so sorry that you experienced this type of treatment. We are sad to say that you are not the first one to tell us this. One of our daughter's friends told us that it is still going on in the school that her brother attends. Thank you for sharing because it is important for people to know what they may encounter. We would love to hear more about your experiences and if there is anything you think we should cover or you would like to see. Take care.

      Oh wow. I’ve lived in Ventura my entire life and I would absolutely never compare the racism faced in our hometown to what’s happening in states like Georgia and such. Do you have any specific experiences you can share so those of us that live in Ventura can work to make it better?

    • @livinginventuracounty1071

      I just saw your response to this comment. Thank you for reaching out. My daughters friend said that her brother, who is black, would get notes from other students calling him the "N" word, KKK symbols and kids trying to fight him. When he was called into the office his parents were told that kids would be kids and nothing was done. The threats escalated and they had to move him to a different school since the teachers and principal did not stop it from happening. She said that his current school is no better. Hana also has been told by other students that they can't believe she is white because she is so nice to them. We were told by our friends that there is a history of racism in Ventura County that leads to distrust.

    Don't forget that my hometown is still an oil town with cowboys wrangling in our hills. Thus is Ventura's true culture that is slowly disappearing due to transplants and their view of what my town should be like. Never seen so many out of state plates as in the last three years, it's getting to be like fucking Santa Monica around here. Soooooo glad I grew up here in the '60's and '70's, you all missed it!
