CH-53 is the largest and heaviest helicopter in the United States military. As the Sikorsky S-80 it was developed from the CH-53 Sea Stallion, mainly by adding a third engine, adding a seventh blade to the main rotor and canting the tail rotor 20 degrees. It was built by Sikorsky Aircraft for the United States Marine Corps.

Damn, this thing can carry a jet, a freaking jet. What an absolute behemoth.
An empty Jet (no mission and propulsion system) but still super impressive. It lifted about 22000 pounds and its already cleared up to 27000 pounds while 36000 should be the maximum

I used to live right in the flight path of these beasts. When a CH-53 flew over our house at probably 600 feet, the walls would shake, and I do not mean that metaphorically. I actually remember one time a huge decorative mirror we had on the wall was shaken off it's anchor when one of these went over, low, slow, and loud. I love it. To this day, I credit this helicopter for being the reason I decided to become a helicopter pilot.

German Here. Our airforce still has quite a lot old CH53G's in service. Bcs I live right next a militarybase, I often get to see them. The CH53 is in in my opinion in all variants by far the best looking cargo-helicopter. Due to the age of the Ch53's that we have, we will get new Boeing CH47 Block II Chenooks
I live near a small civilian airport so there are plenty of low flying civilian planes and helicopters, so the handful of times a Stallion flew straight over my head certainly set it apart. It's one of the loudest things I've ever heard fly, and just calling its sheer size intimidating would be an understatement

Anyone who's ever seen one of these behemoths up close can tell you the pictures and video just don't capture. They're gargantuan.
I was hoping to listen to it’s engines & rotor sound, they are amazing. Aircrew don’t fly listening to loud rock music, and those that do sometimes come to a sticky end. We had a Tornado badly damaged on landing at RAF Akrotiri, they were listening to music. Once video though😊

In 1979 in Eagle Claw Operation America Attacked to Iran With CH-53s And when the operation failed, they left all the helicopters in Iran and fled with 8 dead. All those CH-53s are in service in the Iranian Navy😂
