How would you suggest I continue progressing my violin journey if I have a temporary injury that prevents me from actually bowing? Should I focus on aural training, music theory etc?
I'm currently on Intermediate level 1 of the curriculum. Thanks for all you do!

Hello, I would like to know what is the easy way to learn music theory and sight reading. I am struggling hard as I’m teaching myself. I can’t afford violin lessons. ☹️

I've notice that there is a focus on expressive phrasing in violin pieces. how can one enhance their understanding of musical dynamics & articulation to convey a more nuanced & emotive performance?
As one advances in violin studies, understanding how to effectively balance technical proficiency with musical expression. what advice do you have to strike the right balance & avoid sacrificing one aspect for the other?
Thank you for all that you do!!!!!

THANK YOUUUUU for the answers in the first response video! i just forgot to comment there 😅
and now for more questions, about double stops, i think all the questions can be made with 1 response:
    1. when can we effectively start studying double stops? because if learned too early we just dont have repertoire for this! i know it helps with intonation, good hand shape and such, but strictly talking about repertoire... when?
    2. start with whistler's developing double stops or trott's melodious double stops? or both? or another suggestion? Particularly i like Fischel book instead of Whistler, it goes more deeper in the exercises, i think. Sad this book is not as known as Whistler's book.
    and
    3. even starting when doing seitz from suzuki 4 the repertoire is very very thin. what do you recommend as real repertoire with easy double stops to go along with the studies?
(in my researches the better i could find was Joachim Violin School, there's a section in the start of book 2 with 28 musical exercises in double stops in 1st position, many of them from Campagnoli. check these exercises if you can!)
    thank youuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu

Is there a quick warmup you’d recommend for a 72 year old beginner? I want to practice more than 15 minutes a day, but I just get too much muscle soreness. I work really hard at keeping a loose bow hold and a relaxed right shoulder. I sometimes catch myself holding my breath and don’t know how to overcome it. I workout in a gym about five days a week…..

Hello! I live in a smaller town without any reputable violin makers/shops. Is there any good way to figure out which violin shops are good ones so I know where to travel to? I am looking online at shops in my distant area.

      1) I don’t know how to keep shoulder support
      2) My fingers are touching two strings at the same time .

Hii, I've been playing the violin since I was 10, then stopped at 15 because I was kind of forced by my dad with it; but I recently got back into it and I can still remember the finger positions for the first position; however I have a really hard time mastering or doing the vibrato.
What can you suggest for me to improve on my vibrato, it's like everytime I attempt it, my hand gets tired easily.
    Thank you. ❤

As an adult beginner (2 yrs), what do you suggest would be the best practice techniques for a 30 - 60 minute session? I play strictly for pleasure but would like to eventually achieve vibrato. I am left hand dominant so my bowing technique needs work. I love your videos! Thanks so much for sharing with us!

What is the best violin scale book to purchase? ( By practicing my scales it should help me read notes in higher position and read them with ease. I play in an orchestra. I want to move from second violin to first violin. To do this, I need to read higher position.)

I love the Barbara Barber series. The scales for advanced players is concise and easy to use, yet covers all the bases.

Is there a way to prevent or get rid of a so-called "violin hickey," aka the red mark under the jaw? Sometimes, mine is painful and swollen.

I have a rather unusual question what is not about technique.. But rather an emotion question. Weird.. Right? When I play at home.. In front of my window, I can feel the music I play but when I play in front of my teacher.. (she is lovely.. I like her a lot) I just can't. I wonder, if violinist really feel the music they play or just try to transport sth.. How to overcome? And spiccato of course.. My teacher became sick right after the first lesson she introduced me spiccato. I am at the point of bouncing bow.. But what is my wrist supposed to do? How do I know if it is lose?

Is it a good idea to start learning the viola before you've "mastered" the basics of the violin?

Good question. I know I will end up with a viola as well.. Simply out of pleasure for that beautiful tone

When approaching hard difficult pieces (paganini, sarasate, czardas), How can a student maintain left and right hand relaxation and coordinated breathing and how can you practice it?.

Great questions. I look forward to answering them, although the breathing part is less "standard technique".
