I’m going to watch all Mels fantastic youtube clips and remember how kind and talented she was. My absolutely favorite beuty guru who I always could trust making a good and true review. She will be dearly missed but as long as we all can watch her chanel then it feels comforting. I will always remember her levely laugh and passion for makeup🥰 She was the very best❤️ I have never been able to test Cocoa Mirage and I will always feel that I have missed out something🙂

After some bad experience with tomford I find myself passing the tomford counter without looking at the new releases they lost their edge and formula keep getting worse sadly .thx for the review beautiful 💗
4 basic neutral shades for more than 80 dollars of hell noooooooo! This man has gone crazy.
Agreed, the same with Charlotte Tillbury, i can get a neutral quad anywhere, and make it work, everyone of ct's quads and even here new palette look alike boring orangey, mauvey, based neutrals, i can buy at the drugstore for less, i just enjoy watching Mel do magic with her eyeshadow! And i have no intention of purchasing!

A bit of a roller coaster decision on whether or not to buy one or all of these palettes then. If they're that different to the originals, I have just got myself off the hook by not spending nearly £340 😁. A big saving all round I'd say. Yay! 💚

Tom Ford has been releasing suspect product after suspect product since being acquired by Estee Lauder. The quality has been mediocre. Bobbi Brown suffered this same issue after Estee Lauder bought it, and is just now releasing higher quality products (lips mostly - eye products still lacking in quality).
That's exactly what I was thinking. This is all because it sold out to Estee Lauder😔😔
I really liked the Soleil Et Lune quad I got.. it's a shame quality is not consistent. :(

La Mer went downhill for the same reason...Estee Lauder acquired it. So very sad.
Tom Ford Beauty was a brand created in partnership with Estee Lauder and Tom Ford since the beginning. Estee Lauder didn’t acquire Tom Ford Beauty since it has been with them since its inception. Its first phase was Tom Ford for Estee Lauder and the second phase was his perfumes and original white cased lipsticks and has morphed into the line today.

Sous le sable and arabesque were the only ones I was interested in. That really sucks 😭.
Sous le sable reminded me of the pillow talk palette and the Exaggereye palette by Charlotte Tilbury. I was really hoping to add on to those types of color in a TF quad. (Dusty cool toned pinks etc.)

Didn't manage to snag a back-up of Cocoa Mirage. Can't find the Surratt quad anywhere. Missed out on PMcG Decadence yet again. Sigh. Ah well, I have enough makeup to last a couple of lifetimes.

Just when I was thinking about trying Coco Mirage. I’m also interested in a couple other older quads. I don’t understand why companies keep doing this. Don’t they pay attention to consumer feedback? Coco Mirage is such a favorite for so many people. And then to change the formula for future palettes? Say it ain’t so. 😟
I don’t understand the logic behind changing and/or discontinuing products that consumers love!! It’s happened to me! Especially when the product is a fantastic seller! I love & appreciate your honesty!
Weird. I wore De La Creme today and had no fading issues. I thought it wS gorgeous and reminded me of my favorite quad, Nude Dip. Nude Dip is a taupe shimmer/satin look, and DLC is a peachy nude shimmer/satin look. It’s beautiful for an elegant day look. It’s like soleil d’hiver without the glitter.
Um why would they switch out the red brown from cocoa mirage it's the best shade 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️

I don't think you should have to apologize for being brutally honest. That's one thing I admire and respect about you, knowing if I should move on to something else instead. So honestly, thank you for saving me some major bucks. It's a downright shame though that Mr Ford has sacraficed his quality that he was known for. Hope that's not a vision of what's to come down the line.

Maybe I’m the only one, but I’m rather excited about some of these. I pretty much only wear TF or Chanel eyeshadows, so it doesn’t really matter to me if the colors are in 20 other palettes. I’m not likely to buy those. Also, extremely unpopular opinion....but I hated Cocoa Mirage. Everyone hyped it up, so I tried it and it was just way too warm on me. I much prefer cooler tones. I returned it and don’t regret it at all. The new Mink Mirage, with the black addition, looks much better to me. Thanks Mel for all your eye looks!! It really helps to bring the palettes to life and I get a much better feel for how the colors will play out on the eyes.
Oh my goodness, you saved me so much money. I’m also a bit sad because his quads were so elegant, which is why I have all of them. I would purchase a cocoa mirage backup (who the hell decided to get rid of the best selling quad?), but it would just expire before I got to it.

Cocoa Mirage was the perfect palette the way it was and did not need to be reformulated. I've been waiting for Beautylish and Neiman's to get it back in stock before finding out it was discontinued and reformulated. Thank you for such an in-depth review Mel!

The “r” in De la crème isn’t as pronounced
Arabesque sounds more like “ah-rah-besque”
Noir fumé was the most off 😅 It’s “noo-ahr fü-meh”
Yes. A basic good thing to know is that the French e ist very different to the American - it never sounds like "ey". Rather like the "eh... I'm thinking." And the r comes from deep down in the throat, not from the front of the mouth.
Lioness Lux There are different “e”s in French depending on presence or lack of accentuation, but I find it easier to just write “It sounds like ‘eh’” because I don’t know how to convey the nuances in pronunciation through writing 😅

I just recently tempted myself and was weak and bought my first Bobbi Brown palette on sale. Saw these in the mix and the price alone had me shaking my head. I spent $20 more on a FULL palette from Pat MacGrath with GREAT consistent quality. I recently hit pan on a duo from Kevyn Aucoin and that was even more affordable than Tom Ford. I’ll pay good money for quality makeup, I don’t wanna Pat that extra coin just for the name. Your name ain’t gonna last on my face all day, so your makeup better be top tier. I do love a good lil neutral quad, though, and I had considered putting a couple in my faves and wait for an elusive sale somewhere. But glad I didn’t! I can always count on your honesty, Mel 💗

They’re definitely not special but I bet they’re gonna sell really well. Everytime a brand releases something special and more colorful for example TFs Emerald Lust, Photosynthesex, Daydream, Last Dance etc. it always gets discontinued after some time because its not selling well. Let’s face the reality, most people want boring, nude, matte shadows for everyday. That’s just it.

Finally! You totally confirmed what I have been thinking of at least the past 2 years. I have been using TF since he launched his full line of cosmetics and absolutely adore the brand. However, over the last 2 years I have noticed the quality of his product has decrease and prices rising. Hopefully he’ll see this video and make significant changes.

You were so right about Sous Le Sable. I have trouble with it fading and wearing off unless I use a primer under it, and even then, the quality isn't as good as Cocoa Mirage. Not sure what's going on at Tom Ford, but in the future I know to trust your reviews. Thanks!

How do the TF formulas compare to the Surratt “Beyond Beige” quad that looks sort of similar to this vibe? I understand how Mel feels. Loving a brand that never fails you ever and then this happens. TF is known as a luxury brand, now it just a mediocre company after this release. Heartbreaking, hopefully TF won't end up like MAC. Not as popular anymore and fading in the background.
Yes Mel, l guess when you find what you love, you just do not want anyone tampering with it. I must say your earlier vids and Nalini!s world made me become interested in them but I do not have coins to waste and I alive in a country where we do not get to test makeup much and all these brands are not available so I ship my stuff in so, recommendations help me a lot

These are horrible. I can't stand when youtuber's try and sell you on product that in all honesty is NOT worth the money at all. You are so refreshing for your complete honesty about the lack of quality of these quads.
I’ve got all five quads on their way here. I’m going to give them a chance. I LOVE TF quads and have them all! Personally, I can’t wear Tarte or Natasha Denona and feel like they are utter crap that don’t last through the hour not even leaving the house. I can literally just dust away the swatches off my arm too. So everyone is a little different. I’m keeping the faith until I try them. If I have any trouble, the SA said I can bring them in when I receive them and he will do my eye looks with them. ~still a believer!

Imagine if he expanded on the original cocoa mirage with the original formula, and came out with a 10 or 12 pan palette with shimmers and toppers along with the mattes!! I think you would probably die of excitement 😂😭😊

This was a great video. You saved me a lot of money! I’ll probably buy one but I don’t feel compelled to buy more. I wish the Holiday release had been permanent because they were so special. I love the wet/dry formula!

Thank you for the detailed review and swatches, Mel 💕 I have and used the Sous les sable quad and think it’s beautiful. I didn’t experience any issues with pigment or longevity on any of the shades.

Honestly, I wouldn't/couldn't spend that amount of money on 4 shades.
Like you said "its just make up". And it's becoming too 'normal' to spend $100's or more on one item!
My social conscience is being tweaked.
On a much lighter note, I wish my make up application skills were half as developed as yours. I'm fascinated watching you transform your eyelids with enviable ease.
Lastly, Mel, when are you going to create a palette? I know for sure it would be my ideal dream palette.
I would HAVE to buy a back-up as I'm certain I would hit pan.
