- The follow up video to "DREAD FALL" - follow our friend as they journey into enemy territory, making all sorts of friends along the way. Learn what it is they are up against, and the ramifications of failure within this mysterious hive-city.
This took way longer than I anticipated, some shots took a day, whilst others took months. But mostly it took time as I was working in-between work so I could pay for my debilitating coffee addiction.

That was absolutely phenomenal. The enemy soldiers, the Hive, the way the shield blocked the missile, the crazy monster. All of it was just fantastic!
Makes me curious about how the lore keeps saying Void Shields don't deflect things, but open portals to The Warp to absorb the damage.
This would change so many things about how weapons interact with them! You could fire the most obscenely powerful weapon in the galaxy, but if the impact point is small and brief even nuclear weapons would take but an instant of portal opening to swallow whole, and detonate uselessly in The Warp while taxing the shield no more than a mundane projectile of equal size would.
Presumably weapons have since been engineered with this effect now, and the missile might detect the void shield opening such a portal and then trigger immediately so that the shield is forced to absorb the entire explosion measuring hundreds of meters for dozens of seconds and not just a split second of a five meter portal.
Impactors like Tau Railguns would be the most impacted by this as their projectiles are tiny and their velocity great, barely reuiring a tenth of a second and a portal the size of your hand. Maybe large railguns meant for anti-voidshield work have some kind of trigger inside that shatters the projectile like a shotgun blast shortly before impact when it detects the void shield, to force it to expend more energy over a wider area?
@@Hust91 Void shields redirect the impact into the warp but it can only transfer so much at once.
The tau railguns that are used against titans are normally installed on their space ships. It´s an obscene level of firepower that has to be brought to bear in order to breach through a void shield in one go. Most common strategy is to maintain pressure via rapidfire forcing the void shield generator to overload. Tau can breach a void shield but if the void shields are layered (aka multiple shields)... yeah that´s when they are in deep sh*t
@@Psychoangel-d23 What does it mean to redirect "the impact"?
If they're opening portals to the warp, then it seems the limitation would be how big a portal, and how long it's open, not how much goes through it.
A railgun shell traveling right below the speed of light would still only require a miniscule portal for a miniscule amount of time (not counting atmosphere effects), requiring less power from the void shield than a shot from a Leman Russ.
And I think the Manta also has anti-titan railguns? You'd essentially need specialized railgun ammunition for penetrating void shields because while mc2 a *terrifying amount of E, it doesn't matter if it's all concentrated to hit a demon in another universe rather than what you were aiming for.
Essentially, a lore-accurate void shield would be very, very different from the classical depictions of energy shields because small and fast projectiles would be very ineffective against it.
Was kinda cool. But really a Hive city is like every nation on modern Earth piled on top of eachother. Even if you have amazing void shields, you would expect a hurricane of AA missiles, flak artillery, air superiority fighters and ground air defenses fending off a singular attacker like that. Probably intercepting it an entire continent distant before it came close.
@@Hust91the generator that controls the opening and closing of the portals can be overloaded by forcing it to open and close multiple portals in quick succession, which leads to it shorting out.
The Tau do this by using massive airburst fragmentation cannons that can fire rapidly, forcing the shield to account for every small fragment of projectile. The Tau also use Plasma Accelerators and Plasma Burst Cannons that do the same thing, except instead of hundreds of fragmented pieces of shells, you're instead getting hit with hyper-condensed balls of plasma that then explode outward with stupid levels of concussive force, which covers a wide area of the shield and forces it to go into overdrive to redirect all of the energy.
Eventually it just overloads and fizzles out. Usually takes 2 or 3 Barrages of these weapons. The Tau can take out Void shields alarmingly quickly, as the Imperium found out during their last encounter with the Tau.

@@revlouder5865 yeah fan work can definitely be better in a lot of cases. They have more creativity and put their heart and soul into it while triple AAA just wants a quick product to sell even if it’s the same crap for the 10th time buggy,incomplete or not.

Warhammer nerds are the best animators there is. They single handedly can make astonishing animations like this. Astartes then Dreadfall

Hold the hell on, are the purple creatures and their constructs the Khrave? I know they take over humans psychically with ease and all their bodies and weapons are wreathed in warpfire. These guys seem to fit the bill!
I remember those from Lion El Johnson, Lord of The First. They are definitely one of the cooler scary xenos races

@@TheRABIDdude it’s a misconception that all slaaneshi demons need to be depraved. She is also the god of excess, greed, pain, perfection - all of which could manifest without some sexual archetype.

Holy shit, I am blown away with how good this was. The nuke on the shield has to be the best explosion I've experienced on screen, the brutal shockwave is perfect.
And the animation of the Dreadnought and Demon... purpule thing is clean and effective.

That was breathtaking. The scene with the camera going through the troopers almost felt 3d.
1:32 favorite part. Shows how resilient the human body can be, because even after getting stepped on by the Dread, there’s still a split second before the body gets fully crushed under the weight with the bones all cracking.
I would say its more so the armour he is wearing being resilient, and as soon as that gave way, he was squished like a crab after its shell cracks.
thats whats so horrifying about it he didnt went splat like in a cartoon he went crunch like a real animal being stepped on by multiple tons

I enjoyed the fact that the void shields looked nothing like I would have expected, but were clearly still void shields.
1 dreadnought to assault an entire hive city, I know he’s got extra battle brothers helping him later on but my main concern is if he’s got the ammo to last an assault that long

This is the single most impressive rendition of a hive city I've seen to date. It's been handcrafted to truly display the absurd scale of these megaliths. Your craftsmanship is worth the praise.

The missile impacting the city’s shield caught me completely off guard
The guardsmen getting blended by the Dread claw and turned into a human smoothie is CRAZY
I had a feeling that Hive city had a shield. The sound of the dreads cannon is just amazing. For all these years I never have thought of the claw spining. That man was spinned to pieces. You do a great job.

God, the way that Dreadnaught shoulders that enemy mech and just unloads into whilst throwing it to the ground gives me such Titanfall vibes, like when a Tone or an Ion just lays an enemy Titan out before absolutely pushing their s*** in and killing the target. Fantastic animation and I cannot wait for the next part.

Yes. Absolutely. This I love. Quality animation and intriguing antagonists. Are these some unknown breed of xenos? They don't feel like demons, are these humans cultists? Again, not a culty vibe. I am intrigued and interested to see more.
Humans cut off from the imperium are susceptible to all sorts of influence - and sometimes in their desperation they find help in something potentially worse, but also something which can help defend from the other xenos threats

I generally was thinking of voice work for this video, but then liked the whole "man with no name" vibe of minimum speaking. But there is always next video where I know for certain there will be some spoken parts.

Yo that was dope. I’ve read descriptions of how the Warp creatures can make people go mad and how they can almost hurt to look at; but I’ve never seen any depiction of one as genuinely otherworldly as that creature right at the end. This was incredible.

I never understood why they put the turret in place of the arm. If it was a ammo feeding thing maybe but you can see where that is, and they just ignore the perfect place to put it on the roof. I think I would prefer a two handed robot with a turret instead of this.
Of course that nitpick aside, i'm not going to sit here and say this animation wasn't phenomenal.

I'm surprised you haven't seen any backlash from Games Workshop for uploading this. I wonder if they've decided to ease up on their draconian takedown of fan animations. After all, it's free advertisement, but GW has this incessant need to be in direct command of everything being produced under their copyright. I never understood the logic. Anyway, hats off to you for creating this. It's excellent.
