Makes me curious about how the lore keeps saying Void Shields don't deflect things, but open portals to The Warp to absorb the damage. This would change so many things about how weapons interact with them! You could fire the most obscenely powerful weapon in the galaxy, but if the impact point is small and brief even nuclear weapons would take but an instant of portal opening to swallow whole, and detonate uselessly in The Warp while taxing the shield no more than a mundane projectile of equal size would. Presumably weapons have since been engineered with this effect now, and the missile might detect the void shield opening such a portal and then trigger immediately so that the shield is forced to absorb the entire explosion measuring hundreds of meters for dozens of seconds and not just a split second of a five meter portal. Impactors like Tau Railguns would be the most impacted by this as their projectiles are tiny and their velocity great, barely reuiring a tenth of a second and a portal the size of your hand. Maybe large railguns meant for anti-voidshield work have some kind of trigger inside that shatters the projectile like a shotgun blast shortly before impact when it detects the void shield, to force it to expend more energy over a wider area?
@@Hust91 Void shields redirect the impact into the warp but it can only transfer so much at once. The tau railguns that are used against titans are normally installed on their space ships. It´s an obscene level of firepower that has to be brought to bear in order to breach through a void shield in one go. @@Psychoangel-d23 What does it mean to redirect "the impact"? If they're opening portals to the warp, then it seems the limitation would be how big a portal, and how long it's open, not how much goes through it. A railgun shell traveling right below the speed of light would still only require a miniscule portal for a miniscule amount of time (not counting atmosphere effects), requiring less power from the void shield than a shot from a Leman Russ. And I think the Manta also has anti-titan railguns? You'd essentially need specialized railgun ammunition for penetrating void shields because while mc2 a *terrifying amount of E, it doesn't matter if it's all concentrated to hit a demon in another universe rather than what you were aiming for. Essentially, a lore-accurate void shield would be very, very different from the classical depictions of energy shields because small and fast projectiles would be very ineffective against it.
Was kinda cool. But really a Hive city is like every nation on modern Earth piled on top of eachother. Even if you have amazing void shields, you would expect a hurricane of AA missiles, flak artillery, air superiority fighters and ground air defenses fending off a singular attacker like that. Probably intercepting it an entire continent distant before it came close.
@@Hust91the generator that controls the opening and closing of the portals can be overloaded by forcing it to open and close multiple portals in quick succession, which leads to it shorting out. The Tau do this by using massive airburst fragmentation cannons that can fire rapidly, forcing the shield to account for every small fragment of projectile. The Tau also use Plasma Accelerators and Plasma Burst Cannons that do the same thing, except instead of hundreds of fragmented pieces of shells, you're instead getting hit with hyper-condensed balls of plasma that then explode outward with stupid levels of concussive force, which covers a wide area of the shield and forces it to go into overdrive to redirect all of the energy. Eventually it just overloads and fizzles out. Usually takes 2 or 3 Barrages of these weapons. I love how this captures the grandeur of the 40k universe by not resorting to using "familiar" enemies as an opposing force for the animation. Too often, a lot of animators and writers forget that it's a big galaxy and that the full scope of threats that exist in the setting are far from limited to the small number we see in the tabletop game. The enemies in this feel unique and inspired, and in a lot of ways evoke a similar "I wonder what *those* are?" to the enemy faction in the original Astartes animation. Why hasn't a studio jumped on the bandwagon with something like this yet? It was absolutely outstanding! It's the first time I've ever really seen anything that I thought gave a real sense of the power of a Dreadnought. Holding out for a feature film of this quality
I'd love a film like this. But yv/film executives would look at a box-boi killing machine and say it's not relatable enough. But you could totally weave a great tale of an ancient marine who was once human who ended up in this walking coffin of death - show his development in flashbacks, his fall, his internment, his reactions etc. As well as just neutralising the enemy :D
Excellent. I always loved the old Castraferrum pattern dreadnoughts. Back in the 90's when i played 40k, duels between these and my Screamer-Killers were legendary.
To be clear, I enjoyed the video very much, and if the intent was simply to show good color grading, then job well done. I don't have 3D animation experience, so if by "grading" you meant something else, I apologize for my ignorance. What kinda got in my craw was that it came SO CLOSE to being an effective cliffhanger that it's kinda frustrating. We don't actually know if the two beasts will ever actually come face-to-face, and it would've involved maybe two more shots to establish it properly and, make it more clear and satisfying- at least for me. If this was an assignment that was on a deadline I understand stopping it there, but as far as presenting it to the world, I would have waited a couple more weeks and shored up the narrative. Again though, I did enjoy it, especially seeing enemies of the imperium who weren't the usual suspects. Very good to see a bit of a fresh take
This is bloody mental. Best 40k animation I’ve seen in so long. I love the lack of backstory and pure intrigue. I want to know what this hive world has fallen to now!

The improvement between RED's is seriously incredible.
What!? Why!? How!? I have so many questions around this animation. It was phenomenal. I haven’t seen something this good since Astartes.
Astartes was better.
@@monbreau7306 "this ladies and gentlemen is a douchebag, everyone point and laugh"
@@Piemasta9000 He speaks facts
@@monbreau7306 I said since Astartes. Or are you just being negative for it's own sake?
Everybody is better at making Warhammer content than the people whose job it is to make Warhammer content and I love it. Good stuff.
Очень мощно! С нетерпением ждём продолжения🔥
IMHO, best "Dreadnaught vibe" video on today.
Thank you! 👍
Nice 👌
Superb. You got me with the missle attacking the hive. I thought a hivecity without voidshield as it activated xD
Yes. Absolutely. This I love. Quality animation and intriguing antagonists. Are these some unknown breed of xenos? They don't feel like demons, are these humans cultists? Again, not a culty vibe. I am intrigued and interested to see more.
Humans cut off from the imperium are susceptible to all sorts of influence - and sometimes in their desperation they find help in something potentially worse, but also something which can help defend from the other xenos threats
Spectacular. Love everything about it. The delayed sound of the blast was a great touch. Watching the guy get smashed into the wall with the blender treatment for good measure was gloriously gratuitous. The xenos thing is a work of art. Wonderful. More, please!
More will come
We really need a Dreadnought video game. This guy should lead the production on it.
Holy Hell dude you're blowing us all away with every single upload.
I've just discovered this, then went back and watched parts 1 and 2!! Wow!!! Love this!!

This guy references!
Anime? Jin roh the wolf brigade?
Will you please finish this before AI does? Jesus. I’ll f-ing pay you. And I’m poor as hell. Your work has been second only to the astartes project guy. Which Is above anything GW has released in film, so. Dude. Guy. Please. Before the terminators rise. Please finish this? Please?
@@Donnies_lil_ding_ding I have alot of work done on the project currently! But life always seems to get in the way... mostly work. And I don't want to release a subpar video - so won't be rushing!
But alas, everything takes forever!
But thanks for the shout, the work continues!
@@MaxMurray3D I’m no stranger to life getting in the way. Sorry for my tone earlier. Thank you VERY much for what you’ve done so far. I truly hope you get the recognition you deserve for what you’ve done with this series even if you’ve only been able to get a small amount done. It’s light years beyond what most animators and story tellers employed by GW have given us, and don’t ever think your passion hasn’t been noticed. I swear as soon as next payday hits, I’ve got you a super thanks inbound. You’ve earned at LEAST that much. Please keep creating. You’re kick ass, and that’s a shame of a thing to give up on.
@@Donnies_lil_ding_ding thanks so much. I blush :)
@@MaxMurray3DAWESOME TO HEAR
Wow wtf. Why is it so good ? I just want more. I didnt expect such a level of quality. Im blown away
I love the little detail that we can see the explosion and the rippling shield before we hear the sound and feel the shockwave
Epic , I hope to see more , it was superb it’s crazy the taker in the 40k space this was better than all the things on warhammer + . Great job.
Hollywood- & God-tier quality!! Truly glorious!
Thankyou kindly :)
@@MaxMurray3D You're welcoooome. Been watching your videos since "Dreadfall".
Very good to see a bit of a fresh take
That monster is the closest thing to 'wrong' I've seen from any Warhammer animation yet. Absolute masterclass job on it. The rest is amazing too!
This is bloody mental. Best 40k animation I’ve seen in so long. I love the lack of backstory and pure intrigue. I want to know what this hive world has fallen to now!
There are absolutely clues, some in the comments have figured it out :)
@@MaxMurray3D Had another watch and a read of the comments. If it's the Khrave that's a very cool concept to play with! You've made whatever it is feel totally ominous!
POV: The dreadnought finds him.
Monster: I am a (probably) chaos demon.
Dreadnought: machine gun go BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!
I am Brother Chaplain URSUS....And this is Approved by the EMPEROR.... Continue your Picts and Vox and when the time comes .... WE WILL SUPPORT YOU AND SMITE WITH ZEAL AND FURY!!! THE EMPEROR PROTECTS!!!
That was AMAZING!
Great Job!
I can’t wait to see you do more!!!!
I had to search through the comments to realize it’s a fan made animation.
Mind blowing!
Absolutely phenomenal dude. I can’t believe I’m just seeing this now
Thanks padre :)
Stunning. As perfect in every single minute way imaginable. Effing bravo and thank you.
That looks really really good man, keep it up
Fantastic. So glad to have this pop up in my recommendations.
I am so impressed how you took the slightly goofy design of a dreadnaught and made it look military-viable. In this and the other Dread vids
Oh you!
Absolute genius interpretations of 40k action. Too many artists fall into the comfy/easy tropes of character movement and ballistic impacts.
The mind-simulator at work here is a finely tuned instrument of huge breadth.
