Wanderings by the sea - SEAGLASS hunting in Seaham: finding mermaid tears and other treasures (VLOG)

- My wanderings this time have taken a different course than usual, more exactly onto the shores of the North Sea, to the beaches of Seaham.
The video was filmed over two days on two different beaches.
A little info about Seaham: it is a seaside town in County Durham, England.
Until the early years of the 19th century, Seaham was a small rural agricultural farming community whose only claim to fame was that the local landowner's daughter, Anne Isabella Milbanke, was married at Seaham Hall to Lord Byron, on 2 January 1815. There's statues, places named after the famous poet all over town commemorating him.
The area's fortunes changed when the Milbankes sold out in 1821 to the 3rd Marquess of Londonderry, who built a harbour, in 1828, to facilitate transport of goods from locally encouraged industries (the first coal mine was begun in 1845).
The Candlish family had their massive bottleworks in Seaham, between the 1850s and 1921.During those years the glassworks thrived and became one of the biggest glass manufacturers in the country. It closed during the coal strike of 1921 in the depression as the first factories to mass-produce glass opened.
At the height of its success, the Seaham glassworks was producing 20,000 hand blown glass bottles each day. At the end of the day, the final large balls of glass used for blowing bottles became unusable so were thrown into the sea. Now, pieces of these unwanted glass are cherished by many from all over the world, who come to collect it and use it to make jewellery, trinkets or just have a small jarful of them, like I decided to do.
Seaham has fine beaches and transport links to the eastern coast. From 2001 most of the Durham coastline was designated as a "heritage coast" and Seaham beach was entirely restored.
Fun fact: the opening scene in Alien 3 (1992) was filmed on Blast Beach, which is where the second part of this video was filmed 😊.

Beautiful ❤ What is the beach called please?
Thanks. It was indeed beautiful. The first one is Seaham beach and the second one is Blast beach (this is about 2 miles up continuing along the shore). On both you can find beautiful pieces of coloured sea glass.
hard to listen
Sorry about that. There's not much you can do about the wind on an English seaside... I have since bought a small microphone to improve the quality of the sound.
