- The new Vortex Defender XL Red Dot, similar to the Defender ST but with a much larger screen. This Pistol red dot uses the Delta Point Pro footprint, top load battery, 5 or 8 moa options, 25,000 battery life, two button controls and pretty clear red dot / window.

Very nice that they're offering it as a 5moa dot. I dunno why the 507comp didn't have that as an option--instead it had a bunch of different circle dot options which are basically useless for competition. Most competition pistol shooters want a 5-6moa dot. 8 might be too big but honestly I don't know. I have used 5moa SROs for a while and they're great. Very fast and very easy to acquire the dot.
Actually 8MOA and 10 MOA are pretty common to see on Cmores at USPSA. Myself and most others I shoot with in comps who use the 507 Conp prefer the larger dot settings. 5 MOA is certainly usable, but getting that extra flash of red in the window when shooting at speed is nice with a larger dot.
@@guy2234-v5r the circle dot stuff feels pretty busy to me. I have been trying to get used to the 9moa outer ring with the dot in the center on the 507comp and it seems to work OK. I might try it without the center dot and see how it works like that.
I'd be open to an 8moa dot. I just haven't tried it before.

@@TiberiousGib I'm just looking at the back edge of the optic compared to the rear sight.
That battery retention mechanism looks funky. Almost makes the dot look lopsided when looking down the slide.

Looks like a good dot. I have a couple Vortex Dots......But sounds awfully pricey for Vortex. Good video as always. Cheers!!

Will this optic work with a safariland level 1 or 3 RDS holster? Glock 6365RDS or similar. I feel like it won’t clear a duty holster.
