Everyone complaining about the footprint...dot developed to fit the M17/M18. The DPP/Romeo2 footprint will be the footprint that all will be base on in the future. As someone with multiple RMR's, it is what it is.
I was impressed with the Defender CCW, great design overall and really appreciate the refresh/auto-off updates and free mount. I do wish it would stay locked, I talked to CS and I guess it was designed to unlock when it sleeps, I understand why, dont quite agree with it... wish there was an option to go into a "super-locked" mode so a user who cares too can really lock it out so its not unlocking/changing settings inadvertently. Anyway still love it and love that it direct mounts to rms/rmsc and having full co-witness.
😂😂 the footprint used is common. Plates are a dime per 100. Most guns come with the correct plate. Put on the plate and go. 10 yrs ago, you might have had a valid comment. Now, not at all.
None of the screw’s worked for my Kimber R7 Mako. I just bought the CCW version yesterday. Other than that I’m definitely buying these new series over the Holosun
@@johnleon2594maybe if you ask Viper they will send you some. I hear they’re good at making the customers happy. I’m sure they’ll add it in. I just had extra set of screws from my other red dots. It’s the smaller ones that other companies give that we don’t use that’s probably why they didn’t add it. It’s the Kimber threading. The optic is amazing though. Large window and it holds zero well
Would like to see green dots and more complex reticles added. The DPP is appreciated for an Sig guy. This is a good start but finish the lineup more completely.
Does the ccw latest model have a 10 min auto shutoff or still the 14 hour shutoff? And how do I tell if I’m getting one with the 10 min auto shutoff, serial number after certain number?
@johnleon2594 verify it first. Their website wasn't updated when the newer versions came out. I bought one when they first came out, and Vortex exchanged it for the newer 10 minute shut off free of charge
The optic lockout setting deactivates after the 10 minute auto shut off. Once you grab the pistol with motion activation you can still press the buttons. Please add this feature for lockout to always stay on and require you to press BOTH UP and DOWN to activate/deactivate it.
No mention of the sleep timer. Is this the old 14 hour sleep or the newer 10 minutes timer? Also, the newer Defender has an improved emitter to improve the dot refresh
The new models should be the 10 minute sleep. They upgraded my old 14 hour to the new 10 minute free of charge. I have the Defender CCW and it's a great optic
Ah, you're referring to the refresh rate. It's since been updated on the Defender-CCW to eliminate any issue. The Defender-XL has an entirely different emitter than the CCW and you certainly won't experience any issues with the refresh rate. Give us a shout if you have any questions!
@GLOCKAVELI76 not necessarily. I bought my Defender CCW when they were first released and I had battery issues. I sent it in and they upgraded it to the newer version with tue 10 minute sleep free of charge.
People complaining about the footprint but spending their money on everything else other than an RMR. If you got the footprint why get anything else? Did everybody forget when we had to have adapter plates for everything?
The Defender-ST would likely be your best bet on that. We actually did a video on the best pistol for bear defense on the Vortex Nation RUclips channel (both pistols in the test were topped with the Defender-ST). You can watch that at: ruclips.net/video/We_aHSA2Pbc/видео.html
You got that backwards. You want the smaller dot on the rifle, and the bigger dot for the pistol. I prefer not to go above 2moa on a handgun, but I refuse to go above 3 on a rifle.
Because you will never hit anything past 100yards with a handgun and claiming self defense at a 100yards will raise eyebrows. 1moa is pointless on handguns.

SO... a garbage optic designed for an even more garbage handgun??? Seems like 2 reasons not to buy this trash product.
Dang was really hoping for an RMR footprint. 😭 Was very hopeful seeing this leaked in the Magazine Reload video on Vortex Nation 2 weeks ago.
Please make them with green dots!!

Put a defender ccw on my echelon, fits like it was made for it and the factory irons co-witness perfect
Did you have to use a spacer plate?
no it direct mounted to slide
Love this video! ❤️
Is Vortex going to make an enclosed red dot?
Good video. Thx for showing the commonality and differences.
Vortex is allergic to the RMR footprint. Too bad, this was so very, very close to greatness.
Yea.. they're cutting 80% of the American market out
if Vortex made an enclosed RMR red dot (a Micro HUEY) it would sell out

@wbowman1556 DPP may be common, but RMR footprint is 10x more common. Running direct mount is always superior to plates. This was a big flub.

Any plans for an enclosed emitter option anytime soon?
Lost me on the footprint. Nice looking dots but will never use one.
Would buy the CCW in green. Any plans?

Can you mount the ST on a Springfield hellcat pro?
Direct mount on my 43x MOS is a win

If I want to use the Defender CCW or ST on the FN 509 Tactical, are the plates that come with the gun correct?
Is there a Micro Red Dot ready to mount on a Browning GP 9mm Practical?
Damn, was about to buy the ST and Deltapoint footprint was a deal breaker
The XL needs a smaller MOA like the SRO.
Will it fix a g43x mos? Or will I need to use an adapter plate?
ccw direct fit. good cowitness too.
Did you guys fix the flicker problem from the first one?? Can you still over adjust the red dot completely out of the glass?

Optic plate for staccato?
Dawson has a patent on the staccato plates. For this one to work you'll need the EFLX plate
Too bad they refuse to use the rmr footprint.
I can change a red dot. I cannot change the Slide Cut. RmR 4 lyfe unless I want to "upgrade" my firearm.
Vortex trying to do the Radian Optic guard thing, but yet you're still racking with the optic itself 🤷♂️
How about a 1 moa dot? Why always that big dots
I’m looking at a 2, but I’ll take a 1 if possible. The medium size one would be good for a rifle.
