And you have to let them know what you're selling. They check and if you have things on your table that wasn't on your application they ask you to remove it. Must be transparent.

I'm going to say what no ones wants to say. The amigurumi market at fairs is over saturated. It's hard to sell items and make money when there are three or more amigurumi venders at the same fair. That father said it best " you can find crochet stuff every where." As a amigurumi maker myself I have noticed everyone uses the same yarn and same patterns. Every table has the same stuff. If we are to ever make any money we need to start making different patterns and use different yarns than everyone else. I know its hard. We see someone making big sales so we use the same patterns to try and make the same money. But then there is no uniqueness or excitement for our customers. It's just same, same, same and we go home with our toys having made very little money.
I’ve thought the same myself going to markets and knowing someone has probably seen/purchased crochet plushies from someone else but I remind myself that there are also many jewelry makers, candle makers, soap makers, bakers and artist businesses out there and it doesn’t stop them from attending craft shows/markets and having a storefront at a local handmade only store. We’re all still unique and we all have different embroidery styles as well that change the look. I’m continuing my business as is and in fact meeting with another local crocheter who runs her own business to have a friend and encourage one another. We’re all gifted with unique skills and the majority of the crowd is incredibly impressed by our craft and appreciates the effort we pour into our product ♥️ so keep at it Tammy! 🫶🏼
Well said! I think that is why my larger items sold. It has boomed so this past year. Before I even started, markets I would go to markets and not see any crocheted plushies, but I think this year has been the year for plushies.
It definitely is the year for it. Crochet is entering a new era. A far cry from the afghans we grew up with and far cuter I think. There should definitely be a limit that all market organizers try to follow and a better screening process maybe for people who sell in different categories. Like we already have 2 crocheters but I see you make candles, please only bring your candles to sell kind of thing.
Sounds like you had a decent market. I've only taken my loveys one time with me and sold the Unicorn. They take up a lot of table space. As far as duplicate vendors, I think that depends on the size of the market so that everyone can be spaced out. For example if you had 5 jewelry booths in a row you will probably pass right by most of them after you have seen a few. Its nice that you sold mostly your bigger items. Your setup looks amazing!

maybe having a foldable handcart is an idea for moving your things? I have one for when I go camping and the campsite is a bit far from the parking lot
I bought the Knotted Loveys book by Mama Made Minis and a bunch of colors of Parfait Chunky to make some loveys for a soon-to-be newborn and his/her almost 2 year old brother. My concern is whether one skein of a particular color is enough to make a full lovey. I just saw in the book, page 13, that “each pattern in this book uses approximately 150 g of the main color”. Ugh! I guess i will have to order more yarn which is normally a happy thing but not always affordable. I should have bought multiple skeins of one color instead of many different colors. Well at least this helps me decide which animal to make. It looks like i would be able to make a couple of the multi colored animals, like the yeti or the cow. Sorry for the long post.
The Slidell street fairs have become to big, I was excited to see crochet vendors last time but I agree that you shouldn't have too many people selling the same thing. It gets to be overdone. For instance, there must have been 10 vendors in the same categories of jewelry, thermal cups, candles, etc..... too much!
