BM2 S65 4.0l V8 won 5-6 times in a row to add to your list and is a an absolute gem once tuned and paired with high flow cats or test pipes. Makes a huge difference and really uncorked the glorious engine.
SLS is probably my favourite car ever, especially the AMG GT as it's slightly more powerful, has some suspension upgrades to make it handle a little better but isn't as hardcore as the Black Series so keeps the elegant GT look.
I find it’s actually quite overlooked, the differences between the SLS GT and “normal” SLS. The adjustable dampening really makes the car feel much different to the previous car. They also recalibrated the DCT so it does shift a bit better, I believe this was available as a software update to earlier cars as well. Glad you brought it up!
The whole car is a beautiful piece of engineering, not only the engine. It is such an iconic car! That's what got me motivated into builting it from scratch in 5th scale and making it RC!
6:54 Just on that comment, about the 4.0 Being a better engine I'd say no, it was mainly due to emmisons rules it was made, and there's a reason even till this day 2024 the AMG GT3 still uses a M159 in the GT3 Series, drivers prefer the throttle response form the N/A and it still produces the power the 4.0 BiTurbo would.
super cool! My sls amg has the same colour inside &outside ! And last year I bought M156 c63 507 for everyday drive. Just love them so much. However the best na V12 for me is F12 or 812.
Awesome video with fantastic sound and beautiful photography. You gotta love those AMG big displacement V8’s. I recently drove the AMG GTC coupe on track and was amazed at its turbo V8 power delivery even though I’d convinced myself beforehand that it couldn’t come close to the M156 engine. AMG, I salute you.
@@supercar.driver I’m a total fan of large capacity Mercedes Benz/ AMG V8’s. I was hooked from childhood by a friends Dads 6.9Ltr SEL and am the proud owner of a 2005 SLK 55 AMG with the venerable M113 5.4 Ltr naturally aspirated V8.
Maybe this is the best series that i have watched on utube ever. Congratulations about speaking, camera angles, editing. I m looking forward to watch that orange beast. And also looking for a 3rd chapter for natural v6's 😉😊
I am loving this series. Can’t wait for the SV. But most powerful NA engine in 2010? I think the Murcielago and Ferrari 599 disagree with that statement.
A Mercedes is probably the ultimate road car. But after owing one for several years, I can’t bring myself to buy another. After it gets about 5 years old, it shits out all of its parts. Every part. The engine is amazing. But the air shocks. The cats. The stereo head unit. The window regulator. ...I can go on.
Nice video again ! Nothing can beat those dream pieces of engineering. I just wish you could add some feedback on the road touch, handling when pushed hard, to complete the full thrill of driving. Keep up the entertaining videos !
Thanks! As Miles said in the video, this series is all about the engines, so we try to keep it focused on that. We try to be a bit different to every other review out there 👌🏻
I drove an SLS. It's not the fastest car in the world but it feels more solid & rigid than anything I have dirven. Aventador feels sloppy & loose compared to this. I think it's because of the electric steering
I do love that car, but also love my own 2009 SL AMG which has the 6.3 naturally aspirated hand-built AMG engine, which may be the forerunner to the SLS engine.
Is it possible to have the fuel-lid painted? It's a shame the camera used for filming the interior while driving, has ruined colors. Maybe it's the editing. The AMG Le Mans Rot is not there.
Love these videos, beautiful scenography 👌🏻 One thing tho, the sls didn’t have a dual clutch transmission, just a very fast “conventional” gearbox called mct I believe.
Sorry intenzo you are wrong. The sls does have a dual clutch box. In fact the same one that is also in the Ferrari 458 but with a different tune. Other amg products had the torque converter primarily because of the power of the engine was too great for dual clutch boxes.
"... we'll never see anything like it in a road car ever again." .... until the right-hand drive C8 Corvette Stingray shows up on your shores very soon! Would love to hear your thoughts on that naturally aspirated hero's engine when the time comes, because North America has been building cross-plane V8's just as long as AMG; but unlike AMG, we are still building them!
@@supercar.driver Awesome! I just took delivery of my C8 Corvette this morning. Amazing car, great value, but I can't push the engine because it's electronically limited until 1000km's. Can't wait, lol!
