Great information. I ordered the gotrax ultra last weekend not really knowing much about electric scooters, and after watching this video I feel a lot more confident about my purchase. It will fit the bill perfectly since I'm a first time rider and my commute is less than five miles and I have a smooth biking/running trail to use to get to work. Thanks for the video!
If you just got your Gotrax XR Ultra scooter and are wondering how to fold/unfold it, here you go: Pull the red lever next to the foot placing thing and there should be a red little lever of some sort behind that lever next to the wheel on the side. Pull that red circular lever next to the wheel back (opposing side of the scooter) and the scooter should fold. Now to fold, You gotta get it unhooked from the back wheel panel and just pull it up until you hear a click sound. Good to go!
I recently bought the GoTrax Elite, and it is a great scooter. It advertises 18 miles on a charge and while riding on a very hilly route I got 13 miles. The Elite doesnt use an LG battery (I didn't realize at the time of purchase), which could have something to do with the range. For the money its a great short distance commuter.

I just rec'd my GXL V2 this week - please note it has the same red pin as the newer scooter. Looks like they're doing that at no charge. It would be nice if they had program where you could swap out the downtube and motor hub to upgrade.
@@damienlittlejohn287 Everything has been great...except for the range I'm getting. I'm 200# and riding around on very flat/even road surfaces. I'm not even getting 8 miles. Not sure if this is due to my being 200# or that I'm riding around in 32deg weather. I'm going to see how much range I get out of my next charge. Will probably reach out to them if I don't see any improvement. Hopefully I've just got a bum battery and you'll see better results.

@@damienlittlejohn287 Direct from GoTrax. Everything great out of the box. No issues. Thing is built like a tank. Cruise control is great and the regen breaking is a nice feature as well. My only issue has been the range.
Just got 2 of them 1 xr and 1 gxl v2 both of them are defective. They charged 1 time and then didn't charge anymore. I got it directly from the company
Awesome review, seems like a good scooter overall but the only thing that makes me nervous is the air filled tires, I really don’t want to deal with a flat tire. Have you had any issues with the air filled tires as of yet?
Great review! Been on the lookout for a scooter for a few weeks! My work is 11miles away and requires 2 buses but wanted to scoot the last part of my commute which is 2mile instead of getting last bus. Not getting that last bus would save me $40 a week! Based largely on your video I purchased a 2020 Gotrax XR Ultra, but I can't 'long press' the power button to get into or display the "2nd Gear". Did they remove this function??
I have the same issue. I can turn the light on and off with no problem but can’t display 1 or 2 on the screen. If I continue to long press it will eventually just turn off.
@@bababooey5195 I contacted their customer support and it turns out they removed the 2 step 'gearing' as the majority of people wanted to always use level 2 and were getting annoyed with always having to manual change it to level 2. So there is no longer 1 & 2 gearing and our scooters are default in setting "2" and can't be changed. Hope this helps.
Cruise control speed can only be set at the max speed by holding the throttle all the way down for over 8 secs? Cruise control cannot be set at lower speeds.
I saw that too when looking at the batteries yesterday. Since it was separate on the drop-down with no mention of GXL 2, I assumed I couldn't use it. Let me know if you find out otherwise. Thank you and be safe!

A Ford is still a way more popular car and all police man have a Ford still. How can you possibly say Tesla took over ? It may be very popular but it did not “take over” let’s put it like this. Let’s not just mention a Ford, how about all cars? A hybrid is still the most popular car for gas and electric saving cars. Electric cars are just the luxery of life. But it won’t last no more than 200-300 miles until you need to stand near a charger for 1 hour. If you had to compare, gas cars will be in demand until the next 10 years. I see where you’re coming from, you’re a fan of the Tesla. But it’s not taking over the Ford and it’s not a affordable car for everybody. People can still purchase a brand new ford for 30 grand and just use gas. A Tesla is over 100 thousand. You just seem like a fan of Tesla but it’s definitely not “taking over”

IDK...I don't think the upgrades from the previous model are enough of a significance to warrant that kind of high cost of $399. Just 50 watts more in the motor doesn't impress me since there are so many more better options available at the same or lesser cost on the market. I'm disappointed with GoTrax because I was expecting a little better than what they gave us. I don't think you really need that screw pin to lock the handlebar stem on the GXL V2. I don't use that pin and so far I've never had the handlebars collapse on me while operating the scooter.
You know I also meant to ask you Will....in your video you are going about 20mph downhill and I tried going down a very slight downhill slope today and the scooter almost seemed to sense it was going downhill and it felt like to me that it was applying the regen braking to prevent me going more than 15.5mph!! What gives?!
Still 16 miles doesn’t matter the less power you use the slower you go the slower it dies the faster you go the faster it dies gets the same distance just depends if you wanna get there sooner or later
Do not buy the gotrax XR it is garbage the company does not answer the phone at all and we'll run you in circles through emails until your 30-day period is up. Save your money and buy something else do not make the same mistake that I did this scooter lasted me just under 30 days and I tried and tried to return it but they just kept sending me emails from different people until it was over 30 days and I can no longer get a refund
This is a $300 scooter the m365 is 400, for that u get a bit better mileage and speed as well as modding through the app. Each one at their price point is the best I have the ultra and love it since it fit my budget at the time

Dont buy it, its a piece of crap, i bought it after 2 months it just died dealing with CS is a nightmare. it is alot of fun for 2 months and then it will just die. read the reviews online they all break. the good reviews are people writing them in the first few weeks Again stay away spend the money on a quality one and oh yea it doesnt have an LG battery like they claim

No issues, and they do sell replacement tires with no air required
Also purchase a rechargeable air inflator. They are about the size that fits in your hand and are thin and run about $42 on amazon.

when I go down a hill, the only way to go faster than 15 is to let go of the gas and cruise control

Depends on weight and incline. I did a max range test (starting with a full battery and traveled on flat terrain) and got 15.7 miles.

This is a $300 scooter the m365 is 400, for that u get a bit better mileage and speed as well as modding through the app. Each one at their price point is the best I have the ultra and love it since it fit my budget at the time

I have read reviews, where people who weighed more can still ride it, it may affect the speed a bit. Look at the Amazon reviews
I weight 265 the performance is great with no effect on my weigh had for 2 months and commute about 5 miles and could go further with no problem.
