My guess for how Megalon can work in the MonsterVerse: He is currently hibernating within the ruins of Memphis, Egypt, where he was once also worshipped by the Egyptians as the sacred scarab Khepri. He has the ability to burrow underground using his drills, spit concentrated napalm and shoot beams from his horn, and he once used these abilities in a fit of rage (this resulted in Megalon eventually becoming feared by various Hollow Earth civilizations). Megalon himself eventually teams up with Gigan when he was losing in a war between Earth kaiju and extraterrestrials and their kaiju (which leads to the Seatopians, themselves being one of the remnants of the Hollow Earth civilization, forging an alliance with the aliens). As a result of his betrayal, the kaiju of Earth will always attack Megalon for being a dirty coward and a traitor to their kind. Megalon's betrayal was also recorded in an Egyptian document as "The Betrayal of the Beetle God", and this document also mentioned how a Seatopian settlement was completely wiped out by Sekhmet, a crocodile kaiju called Sobek, a scorpion kaiju called Serqet, and a bird kaiju called Garuda (who was worshipped by the Egyptians as Ra the sun god), all of which proceed to devour the inhabitants.
Also, here's what the other original kaiju should look like: Sobek (Titanus Sobek): Similar to Lizzie from Rampage (the movie) Serqet (Titanus Serqet): A gigantic scorpion (referencing the movie The Black Scorpion), with a heavily armored exoskeleton Garuda/Ra (Titanus Garuda): A giant bird of prey with elements from an eagle, a falcon, a vulture, an Archaeopteryx, and a phoenix. His beak is filled with sharp teeth and his wings have claws
I feel like megalon deserves more love tbh, it has an interesting backstory, a lot of character and a unique design that really makes it stand out. Although much like titanosaurus, gorosaurus and varan, it really deserved more love than it got, hopefully when Toho gets the license back they might bring back some underused classics like this badass yet childish bug. At the start of the comic, Calvin states that its weird how the actors mouths keep moving after their done speaking. Since the comic directly says Megalon in it, its safe to assume that the movie he watched was Godzilla Vs. Megalon.
I think Monsterverse can easily put Megalon in it. Like have Megalon's species be the cause of the hallow Earth Theory. Megalon's are the reason why so many other Titans where able to hide so easily.
Godzilla vs. Megalon was the first Godzilla movie I ever watched. I still have the very VHS tape of it that my grandfather bought for me back when I was in kindergarten, 30 years ago. My mom is forbidden from chucking it out on me, not because of what it is, but because of who gave it and what it means to me. Gramps got me hooked on Godzilla, I never looked back.

There should be a spin-off series, or a point in the Godzilla series, where Mothra and Megalon work together or fight. I mean, they're both insect based gods that protect the Earth (albeit, the latter protects a specific portion), so I feel that they should have crossed paths at least once.

I had a friend in grade school that saw this movie, apparently it was the only Godzilla movie he had ever seen. Anytime we talked about Godzilla movies, he'd immediately take over the conversation and spend our whole lunch break rambling on about how powerful Megalon was. He desperately wanted to convince everyone that Megalon was the most badass Godzilla enemy ever. When they finally played this on TV where I could watch it, I was so disappointed in what a ridiculous monster it was that I turned the channel lol.
Megalon was my #3 favorite monster to use in the Destroy all Monsters video game and his combos were super easy to use, along with Destroyah and Godzilla 2000.
