    Hell yes, my guy! Excellent idea. I honestly didn't know it was possible, I didn't realise there were trains close to where the ferries were leaving for Malta. This is a great solution. A few stops along the way then a week or something in Malta, plus the way back. A perfect 2-week adventure.

    I travelled by train from Szeged (Hungary) to Malaga (Spain) in 1998 when I was 16. Budapest - Paris - Montpellier - Barcelona - Malaga. On the way back we even had about 10 hours for sightseeing in Paris.
    I'm 42 now and wouldn't do it again. :) But it was a great adventure with lots of memories.

    I did Paris to Malta by train and ferry a few years ago, but with a few stops along the way: Paris to Nice by TGV, Nice to Genoa by Thello (no longer exists, you have to change in Ventimiglia), overnight ferry to Palermo, local train to Siracusa and Pozzallo, then the fast ferry to Malta. This was spread over a week. The Catania-Siracusa and Siracusa-Pozzallo trains were both replaced by buses: one due to trackworks (planned), the other due to a lineside fire (unplanned....). It was a great adventure though!

    • @Letsgobyland
      @Letsgobyland  Месяц назад

      That sound like a good trip too! Remember direct trains to italy without changing in ventimiglia. Overnight ferry to palermo sound interesting. Yes also local train to pozzallo doesnt run very often

    Did this journey last year the opposite direction, only took about 36hr from Valletta. (34hr planned). Siracusa - Salerno IC, there ICnotte to Milano and next morning to Basel to catch the Amsterdam ICE. In hindsight I should have left the Icnotte in Bologna and take the Munich EC train to avoid the delay and planned for 35hr. Sadly nowadays the Pozallo-Siracusa trains are not running anymore due to extensive track renewal work at snails pace.

    I wanted to do this trip from Liverpool UK

    Maybe Liverpool to Catania by coach then train to pozzalo

      Check with interrail, can be cheaper. Watch out for train to Pozzallo it doesnt really run often and it may not fit with timetable for the ferry

    Okay IF you are young. Of course apart from Switzerland most of the electricity is generated from fossil fuels.

    • @lws7394
      @lws7394 Месяц назад

      France and Sweden mostly use nuclear generated electricity. Zero emissions ( the waste issue will be ressolved for the most part in 20-50 yrs when Thorium generated energy plants are used ..). And still , fossel generated electricity is better than flying or cars ..
