I was in an extremely dark mental state when I first heard this and hearing it again sends shivers down my spine. This song has a special place in my heart.
So from what I have been able to ascertain over the years of being a fan, I think most of the time Corey goes in after everyone else has laid down their stuff and puts his vocals in towards the end of the process. As for the lyrics, he has stated before that he is constantly writing and I think with lyrics it's more sometimes he writes lyrics based on the music his band gives him and sometimes he already has the lyrics and finds the music that they fit with. At least that's the way it seems to be from some of the interviews and things I've seen/read.
This song is from their latest album, We Are Not Your Kind. The end of this song does flow into the next song, A Lair's funeral, which is a "slower" song but is HELLA DARK and disturbing. Should absolutely check that one out next Saturday!!

I love watching you guys react to Slipknot! They are one of my all time favorite bands.
One of the best songs off of WANYK. Just so much going on in all the best ways. You guys may be confused by the long ending bit but it is meant to flow into "a liars funeral" which is another very good one, though very different to this song.
This album is definitely one that shows the range of the band with how they incorporate their heaviness (think Solway firth for example) and melodies (like the phenomenal chorus this beast has) and other slower, even experimental songs like "my pain". Overall, such great work this album is.
This song is fire like this album... Hate pointed at Coreys Ex-wife Stephenie.. after listening to" We are not Ur kind"! She would have spent some time in therapy for sure ... lol.

The problem with the Joey v Jay thing is that some of the drumming you hear is actually clown and Chris fehn also because they are percussionists as well

Killer Kowalski also trained Kenny from the Spirit Squad who was underrated AF and got stuck in the Spirit Squad.
To my understanding, when they're recording, they all live in one big house, so everybody is working on ideas, alone or with each other, someone might be playing something and somebody else joins in, and Corey writes ideas down as they go, and mostly lays the vocals down after the music's mostly finished.
Apologies if you've already done them but Red Flag, Surfacing, Overide, Heretic Anthem, Nero Forte and the stand alone single All Out Life. Cheers from across the pond.

Please listen to a song called I've got a mind to give up living by Fleetwood Mac. It's performed by a man named Peter Green who in my opinion is the greatest blues rock guitarist ever. He has influenced so many artists, his playing is otherwordly and I'm sure you guys will be able to appreciate his work.

I’m taking Joey over Jay…. Reason is because Joey was so influential on Metal music and drummers in general. He inspired many and still does, Jay is a great replacement but in a heads up battle there’s no denial… JOEY wins #SLIPKNOTSATURDAY
This is from the We Are Not Your Kind album which was Slipknot latest release. This album also has Unsainted, Nero Forte, Solway Firth, and many others that I believe you have done #WANYK
Pretty sure it’s typically that corey will go in after and write lyrics, but I know that he writes a lot of lyrics on his own and therefore I’m sure some of the songs were based off that. Also there’s a lot of songs where one person writes most of it

Jay is a beast, but Joey was just on a different level. Probably best drummer in my life time (I’m 33) and definitely top 3 drummers of all time in music period. He was just an animal and it can’t be easy to head bang while playing either.

I think it's hard to suss out Joey or Jay when listening to Slipknot, because beteen them and the percussion kits, it's just a wall of drums going on.

I really like Jay but Joey was a different "level." Like super Saiyan vs super Saiyan 2. Very tough to pick one over the other though.

Jay is good but if you ask me i say that joey is better only because i remember when slipknot came out wearing no masks and seen all the original members multiple times
Jay and joey are both astounding drummers but I think joey has to be better because of the influence he had when he was in the band. Founding memeber and there were so many drummers around the world who idolized him.
Just my .02 cents. When you get to that level on any instrument, or anything else, there is no “better.” It become personal preference and opinion at that point.
