I'm so glad to have seen this. My husband has just became a pastor and we are in a new city starting a new church. We don't receive any money from our church and we still work to support our family. We don't take money or raise money for ourselves from our church, the church money is used for building costs and hospitality etc. We are there for the people, and thank God for these comments! It's encouraging that we are doing the right thing, it's not always easy financially as my husband gave up a good career to become a Pastor when God called him and we are still new to the ministry but we want to see people truly saved and changed. The gospel is free and so people should not give in exchange for anything.

Honestly, this and the "tora imba yako, bata mari yako, namatira business rako". Churches have now equated blessings to material possessions. Yet if you read the beatitudes in Matthew 5 where Jesus talks of blessedness he does not mention anything material at all. Am I saying that poverty is the stamp of Christianity, no. But that blessings are amoral, they don't carry any moral value. Look at how the apostles lived. Their richness was in Christ. Solomon, Job, Abraham etc were made wealthy. But both the apostles and vana Solomon walked in faith which shows us that material wealth is not a reflection of salvation. Haa ndaneta ini, why can't the gospel be preached as was done nana Paul.
