I found red onion sets difficult too... planting with Red Baron, I cannot work out when Ailsa Craig and Red Baron sets go in at the same time the Reds always lag behind with very poor results. So last year I decided to have a go with seeds and had much better results. Got the seeds from Premier seeds too and will do the same again this season planting them earlier. Worth mentioning about the birds pulling up young plants and need protection with wire clotche until established . Thanks for no nonsense video.

When seeds have germinated do they need much watering ?
Just enough so they dont dry out

Only success I've ever had with red onion sets are the heat treated ones but there more pricey
reds for me can be a pain so i hope from seed works this year
