      Having done 12 minute stages. I promise you it is even more difficult. Heat is a big thing. Our fire suits are just big winter jackets basically. @@PANTHERBURNS I rally an "r2 + -" its the US fiesta with a standard gearbox, its similar to an r2. you can get into rally quite cheaply, the hard part is finding a car that is logbooked and ready to go, once you do you can either drive it to the event, and get a rental car for recce, or trailer it and use your tow car. there are many divisions of rally designed for new drivers and lower-powered cars, if you're here in the United States the ARA is the way to go, if you're in Canada, CARS, and if you're in Europe there is about a million little rallys

      I'm no rally driver but I frequently drive in the snow and the best thing to do is lightly steer towards the road and give it just enough gas. Too much steering input and tire will plow, too much gas and tire overcomes what little traction you have to pull out.

    • @zwjna
      @zwjna 4 года назад

      @@Quixxer65 There's no snow where he spun. That's a mix of ice and slush, maybe. He probably lost the rear under braking and the absolute lack of grip and the ruts on the ground made it damn difficult, if not impossible, to recover it.

    • @AndrewGeierMelons
      @AndrewGeierMelons 3 года назад

      His initial brake application is very gentle. He thinks he has more grip, so he puts his foot further in. The rear wheel locks under braking and destabilizes the car. Touching the snow banks outside of the ruts causes the rest of the spin. He simply got greedy with braking grip!

    Not even the best driver of all wrc-drivers on this moment, but still amazing.
    I can brake with my left foot, but i guess (or better said: being sure) i would have braked a lot more and wouldn't be brave enough for that speeds on constantly changing grip-level roads like this...
    Great respect!!!
    I guess rallyfans, in general, understand the difficulty, and danger, of this sport, so that's why we can stand next to each other without fighting (instead of like with football) to support our personal favourites.
    Can't get enough WRC. 2016 little bit boring, sound not great, restricted to 300hp, less downforce, no diff rules. Since 2017, better sound, 380hp, diff rules (so more sideways and drifting actions possible), more wings and downforce, much more nice to watch.
    For me, 2.0L should be back possible (because of the noise) in WRC. The extra hp's it can provide are not needed (engine still can be limited at 380 or perhaps 400hp), but it just sounds lots more heavy.
    80's and 90's were great in relation to engine sound.
    And the cars are lots safer now, so i don't see the problem for this idea...
    Hopefully WRC-organisation wil think about it.
    Same counts for F1 (off topic), the hybrids just don't sound like proper F1's (still, some changes already made about it, keep it on, please!!!).

      If you think about how most of the tight hairpins force the drivers to be on 1st gear most of the time, stepping on the clutch pedal before the corner exit will instantly recover the engine rev and makes the driver shift to 2nd gear fast and smooth, without losing any power during mid-corner

      It's called a clutch pedal. And no, the car isn't automatic either. Sequential gear shift doesn't require the driver to use clutch pedal to shift gears.
      Stepping on the clutch pedal + gas pedal will instantly rev the engine up, preventing the car from stalling from low power. It's commonly used when the driver has to start the car or needs to regain engine rev quick enough during hairpins.

      @@emilrudin3639 Yes, WRC cars have a sequential transmission, when the shift paddle is pulled the engine dies for a millisecond (0.01) allowing the gears to move freely
      In lower speed it still is a manual so clutch is required not to stall

    I bet this is like running a marathon after, Mental exhaustion, lol, I have never done this in real, I think I am a bad ass on Dirt rally, But when you see vid's like this, It is clear I am no bad ass, lol, if i had the bank account to be able too afford a season of tires, parts, mechanic, panel beaters, the list goes on, I think we would all be rally driving if it was a cheap sport, lol, I grew up watching colin, Rally was brutal then, even more brutal in the 80s, It's the footwork that gets me, Takes some skill left foot breaking, Even more skill when you start busting clutch moves aswell, Not as easy as it looks...................

      Ice, snow, slush, and whatnot. He was the fastest thru, and all drivers experienced plenty of difficulties [1]. I see you play DR 2.0, but that thing ain't nothing like the real one. Grab a proper sim, such as Richard Burns Rally with NGP6, and do some runs with WRC+ cars on snow stages with any kind of tarmac tyre. Basically yes, it's slow, but that's "the limit."

      the problem with mobile phones are that their batteries can die on stage, its also easier to read a paper then a phone just look up reading on a book vs reading on phone you will see that your reaction time is faster without a phone and also cause rally was always done on papers anyways its just one of those "if it aint broken don't fix them" type of thing" yeea feel me
