These gambits don't really get sufficient compensation for a Pawn, but if you can lure your opponent into one of the many traps they contain, they can win you some quick, cheap victories -- and these days, a lot of people who consider themselves well educated in opening theory have never looked at a Blackmar-Diemer Gambit, or a Falkbeer Counter Gambit, or a Sicilian Wing Gambit, or dozens of other trappy lines. It's very good to know them!
The BDG is a fun opening. However, I think it is for tricks. One time, I had an online game against a WFM. I think she was sandbagging in that game. I used the BDG, and I won by Checkmate. She had an 18% accuracy. In an OTB Tournament Game, I used the Blackmar Diemer Gambit against someone who was rated 1911. He resigned at one point to prevent Mate in 4.
It's a very good opening. Queen's Gambit is more solid of course but a lot of players will not be familiar with BDG and fall for a tactic early in the game.
I have the "Blackmar Diemer Gambit Keybook 2." It is a good book. Fun fact- You can get the BDG from the Caro Kann. However, it is called the Rasa Studier Gambit.
The last one was superb
Thanx for you work . all ways interesting.

Eres el mejor mato!!

A gambit is NOT about material, and not always about tempo...sometimes its to take your opponent to a place he does not want to go.
As we are human, no matter how correct the gambit is objectively, if you're winning you're winning.

I was thinking of using this gambit to counter the scandinavian defense. 1.e4 d5 2.d4 Let's see if it works.

Man, even I play better correspondence chess than most of these Black players.
