  • The snowstorm is now blamed for five deaths around the Buffalo, New York. A solid wall of clouds, just south of Buffalo, shows the power of the lake-effect storm. Jericka Duncan reports from West Seneca, just outside of Buffalo.

Everyone in NYC thinks if they drive far enough north till they can see the NYC Skyline they're in Upstate. I'm born, raised, and still live in Oswego County. And we have never considered Buffalo Upstate. Always Western. Maybe the need to go back to school to learn how to read maps. Love and respect to our Western neighbors from this Upstater.

I live in Buffalo. I wasn't born during the BO77 but the 11/14 and 10/12/06 storms were a phenomenal reminder of mother natures power. Things like this are scary but they can bring people together and create some epic memories. I love Buffalo and in three months when i'm walking in my development on a 65 degree night, i'll look back at this and laugh.

I Wake Up in the Morning and Its Forty Below
The Weatherman Tells Me Its Too Cold to Snow
I Look Out the Window and I Know That He's Lying
My Car's Out of Sight and the Snows Still Flying
"Will the Car Start?" You Know It Won't
"Did They Plow the Road?" You Know They Don't
"Am I Late For Work?" You Know You Are
    Stuck Again? So's Your Car
    Chorus:
I Shovel and I Shovel and I Shovel That Snow
I Gotta Get Out, But My Car Won't Go
I Get the Cabin Fever When the North Wind Blows
I Gotta Get Out, But My Car Won't Go

He Can't Get Out He's Buried Alive
Snowshoe Over, Play Some Fifteen Two
I Gotta Cheer Up Cause I Feel So Blue
"Crank Up the Blower," It Won't Run
"Grab the Shovel," Its Much More Fun
"My Back Is Broke," You're Halfway There
Snowing Again, But I Don't Care
    (Repeat Chorus)

Still Snowed in She Just Can't Wait
Stuck in the Drive, Stuck in the House
Watching Tv Stuck On the Couch

I plowed roads for the county in Maryland and yes sometimes were stuck at work for five days or more and don't get to go home until the roads are clear and people have nerve to get pissy with us because we have plowed snow in front of their driveway or they haven't seen us for a day or two they don't realize how many roads there are just in one county alone, and there is only so many people and trucks to take care of those roads and we get no sleep sometimes we try to sleep in our dump trucks and yes people still have the nerve to get pissy with us.

Nelson4207 that’s what canned food is for. If you can’t get out to feed yourself what leads people to believe delivery drivers will be out? They aren’t the post office, and claim to plow through any condition. Don’t know why anyone who lives in the belt wouldn’t keep at least a weeks worth of canned food on hand during the winter or at minimum some frozen pizzas.

If this happens again in the USA. This is what we use to continue driving on every motorway during winter time. Street salt with small tiny bits rocks we spread on every motorway everytime snow is falling we refill on the motorways. Winter tires with dubbs the whole winter season. If its very high amount of snow like this video then we put chains around the tires so you can drive easy. If you want to get snow to melt in a few hours then spread Salt in that area. It will work. Ice and snow cant stand salt. Remember that. Thats what we do in scandinavia.

Due to the fact they are located far from any large lake, the Catskills do not get very much lake effect snow. Lake effect snow from the Finger Lakes is minimal at best and requires relatively warm water temperatures, an ingredient that is simply not present in the springtime.

    • @Cedarcity1
      @Cedarcity1 6 лет назад +1

I lived in Watertown for 30 years and study meteorology so I have some credentials in the field. The western Catskills and the I-88 corridor that you mention are prone to heavy snowfalls but more often than not it is the result of nor'easters rather than lake effect snow. As you can see by this image, the Catskills average 25-50 inches of snow per year with some locations on the western fringes falling in the 50-75 inch range. That pales in comparison to the 160+ inches that occurs east of Lake Ontario.

I got caught in the storm trying to go get my oldest son who was stuck at his work. Needless to say I made it to union and Clinton. Had to walk the 5 miles to my house, because the snow was so deep, my hammy’s were killing me. I called my wife to tell her I was at the end of the block and I’ll b home soon, it took me a extra twenty minutes to walk half a block. Took me a little over 4 hours total to walk home. Should have stayed at the persons house who offered, but was worried about my son. He tried same thing, ended up staying at some random house. My advice is just to stay where u are. Never will do that again.

I disagree, climate change is a real threat. In NJ we hardly had any snow this year, practically none. I'm in North East Central NJ and typically we would get a handful of storms with 3-5 decent sized storms around 6 inches to over a foot. This year we have had two storms that were barley a dusting. It is real.. do more research on the ice sheets, the effect on ocean current, forest fires, etc..

@Charmbracelet That sounds like something trump would say. Just because it happened in the before time doesn't mean it isn't still dangerous. We need to Photoshop masks onto all faces in old shoes so masked kids don't feel alienated this year in school. I already put signs outside my theybies schools saying "masks are still cool!" So they don't get made fun of for wanting to protect themselves from the coof!

In towns was minimum 150 cm and - 20°C,around in villages was maximum 5 m snow and - 42°C ! In february in whole Serbia,Montenegro and in B&H (in cities) was - 20 °C and 2,5 m snow 3 years ago!
Next years was 50% less snow, little warmer and of course today! The worst was in Serbian siberia and in Russia! Who knows what awaits us in February ?! In NYC today you panic because of 20 cm and -15 °C ???
