There’s always good ways to look at things and this is perfect, definitely sad she passed away but she had an amazing life and seemed so happy. Glad she got to have that life and was surrounded by those who cared about her dearly ❤
i mean sure, but that is more or less the reaction of people who lost their 100+ year old grandparents. they loved them, but after a certain point you hit the acceptance stage before it even happens.
I feel like Doug puts on this face of being an entertainer and comedian kind of guy, but underneath that he seems like he’s really a very thoughtful and kindhearted guy. He just wants to make people happy, I think.
Yea same, he's sad but obviously not destroyed... She lived a wonderful life, did more for her species than possibly any other otter, she was given so many shrimp and fish and clams, she had a good life to be celebrated ❤
I'm seeing a lot of similarities in Dougs reaction to this as to when my dog passed. It sucks that they did pass, but they where old... like *old* old. The fact that it hadn't happened sooner was a miracle, and the fact that it happened peacefully is reassuring. It doesn't make it not suck, but it makes coping with the loss of someone you cared about much easier to deal with
Something which really bothered me that I saw was a comment on Rosa's memorial video saying "Wow, it's so incredible that you were able to say so much about her and not mention Dougdoug!" This isn't about Doug, come on guys!
I do wonder if Bone Worm would be a one time bit or it could actually become something more, it would be pretty funny if it is actually the next fixation of the DougDoug community
Considering the fact that the idea of divorce has captivated the doudoug crowd for years, it’s safe to assume we can latch onto the bone worm thing and never let go.
Doug is so sweet like genuinely seems like a hilarious stand up guy I’m sad for the loss of DouglasDouglas and chat’s favorite otter I hope Rosa’s ballin out in the river in the sky doing whatever otter stuff is o7 Rosa
It’s not a mourning of death, it’s a celebration of life, nobody can live forever, every life will come to an end. Don’t worry that you’ll be gone, hope to do something to be remembered. Everyone has a purpose(s), you may not know what, but you do. Goodbye Rosa, hello next random creature!
I do think it's wonderful that Doug stresses the importance that he and his fanbase continue raising funds for Monterey Bay Aquarium altogether instead of just ceasing after Rosa's passing. You can hear how much he supports the good work they do every time he mentions them in earnest
I like how he didn’t “sugarcoat” it like this huge tragedy, because he’s more happy about what she did do for all of us. I hope that he makes a tribute in this year’s fundraiser.
This took me a while to process. I have felt like i had lost a loved one. Someone close to us all. Even while typing this, i am tearing up. She meant a lot to all of us, especially the ones who worked with her every day. She was the best otter that ever lived. She may be gone, but we will never forget her. She will always have a special place in our hearts and minds.❤ For our queen Rosa
Rosa lived a long and prosperous life. MBA took very good care of her, and it's amazing that she lived for as long as she did. Raised such an amount of otters and made a positive impact. It's sad to see her pass, but it was her time to go by now. After all, she lived a quarter of a lifetime longer than Otters normally do, that is an achievement in on itself. It also warms my heart seeing how dedicated DougDoug's community was to her, donating thousands upon thousands of dollars to a good cause, such as MBA. Rosa may no longer be around, but her memory will live on forever. Thanks for everything you did, Rosa, you will be missed.
I visited Rosa and her friends a few months ago. She was so sweet and looked so peaceful. It's a shame she's gone, but she'll never be lost in all our hearts.
Thank you for making this video, I dont really ever catch his streams, so it's nice to hear his views on Rosa's passing. It's also nice to know that he will continue to do fundraisers
I just like to think about the fact that she lived so much longer than expected, and with all the attention Doug brought her, the community has helped the aquarium so much. In a way one sea otter not only raised so many pups, she caught our hearts and helped the place that helped her
I live about an hour away from monterey. Ive been going to the aquarium ever since I was a little kid. Rosa was always there, and always wonderful. She will be dearly missed.
I love this channel as i allways try to catch streams but i always get lost on stream (which is the fun part), I love how you've emulated the dog dog editing style that he uses aswell
o7 Rosa You sparked a joy in me that I'll never let go of, and my tears are nothing compared to the time I spent rooting for you and wonderful efforts of Monterey Bay Aquarium.
I got to see Rosa recently in October and couldn’t be happier to see her one last time, it’s so amazing how much she did and how much good she brought monta ray bay aquarium who absolutely deserve support.
Stream idea: attach a different animal name to the donations, and at the end of the stream whichever has gotten the most donations will be the new fixation
I miss her, but Rosa lived a long and fulfilling life. Her impact on countless people has undoubtedly increased awareness and love for the southern sea otter. I personally have become a huge otter lover after seeing Rosa on stream and in-person and I am heavily considering careers in which I can research and improve otter populations or act as a specialized veterinarian for marine mammals and mustelids. I miss her very much, and I'm sure we all do, but her impact will be felt for so many years for the benefit of her threatened species. Love you Rosa
A memorial fundraiser sounds wonderful. Have great memories. Take a look at other otters in there. Let's be real none will ever replace her... But we can make new memories... Hopefully watch the ones she raised do well
I appreciate how this was more of a reminiscent thing rather than a mournful one. IMO its better to appreciate someone's life and that it happened, than mourn them leaving
I like the Rosa Foundation to donate for Rosa's pups & grandpups & so on. That way Rosa lives on in spirit by continuing to help more pups in the future via donations.
She had a great life. There was a lot of good coming from her life. It‘s sad. But her life is more to be celebrated than her death is to be mourned. R.I.P., queen. You were one of the greats.
Its not a funeral, its a celebration of life, looking at all the incredible accomplishments of a dear friend even to those across the world. Rest In Peace our Otter Queen.
I really like the perspective shown in this video. Death is always a sad thing, but of all the ways it could have happened this seems like the happiest possible ending. Rest well Rosa
I watched the otter cam stream at work the day after the announcement. They had set up a heart of green ribbon and words thats spelled "We ❤ Rosa" and honestly it was the most wholesome thing I had seen.
Doug understands that it was gonna happen but at the same time knew that she lived a great life, and honestly, im glad we all got to be a small part of that Rest Easy Rosa Gone But Never Forgotten
The last Rosa stream helped me through a dentist appointment. They told me I could put on a RUclips video and I put on dougdoug's video about her. I wasn't nervous at all!
Never had the pleasure of being there for the Rosa fundraiser streams, but it’s clear that she meant a lot to chat and Doug. The fact she was 20 when she passed is genuinely amazing.
Damn, that hit me harder than I expected it would. Probably don't help that I am sleep deprived atm, but still. Glad I got to participate live at her last birthday, will definitely be there this year as well
One of my good friends took his girlfriend to the Monterey Bay Aquarium literally the day before Rosa died, and had to break the news to her when it was announced she had died.
I’m glad we’re still having a fundraiser this year for her. I know she’s gone but I feel like she would want us to have one for the otters that are out there. She held out for as long as she could and passed away hopefully peacefully. May her memory live on forever. She may be gone but she will never be forgotten. For as long as we all live. Further than any of us.
I remember going on Wikipedia and seeing Rosa’s name on the front page among the recently deceased, with a link to her article. I already knew she had passed by then, but it was heartwarming that even Wikipedia reacted to Rosa’s death.
RIP Rosa. I loved these streams, and I know this is more of a celebration. It's just still remembrance everything she did. And even she di... IS THAT A BONE EATING WORM!?!
Love how his reaction was pretty much "Yeah, it sucks she passed, but the fact that she didn't sooner was a miracle"
Would have been sooner if she had to deal with predators in the wild
There’s always good ways to look at things and this is perfect, definitely sad she passed away but she had an amazing life and seemed so happy. Glad she got to have that life and was surrounded by those who cared about her dearly ❤
Yup, 24 years for an otter is a nice long life. And Rosa got to spend most of her life being spoiled and pampered. She definitely had a good life
i mean sure, but that is more or less the reaction of people who lost their 100+ year old grandparents. they loved them, but after a certain point you hit the acceptance stage before it even happens.
you can still be sad while thinking this tbf tho lol

Doug could definitely shift the focus of the fundraiser to "fundraising for Rosa's children" and get a fuckton of money for MBA.

what if it was for real children?
Doug is a gamer so i reccomend child's play foundation
