Standing in my kitchen, on day ?? of no shower, trying to create some peace in the chaos of a house that now holds three generations, trying to figure out what to make for our church holiday meal tomorrow night and now tears are running down my face. Jill, You have value, you have power and your words were healing particularly in this video. Thank you.

My kids are all older. I love being home. Having a clean home, attending my garden and cooking good foods for my family. People judge and think I sit around watching TV all day but they honestly have no clue. I have worked from home for years and recently my father retired and closed his business. So I am making the best of it. I do NOT plan on working outside of the home. I know my boys are 22, 19 and 16 and they do not need me like they once did and I could work outside of the home. So instead I am going to start RUclips and making more out of my homesteading journey. I may pick up side hustles along they way and that is fine with my husband and I. Thank you for making this video and your kind words about homemakers. It is truly a lost way of life.

Thank you so much for this video. I'm a stay at home Mom of three (a five year old and newborn twins) and a full-time nursing student. As I'm watching this, it is 11:45 at night, and I'm the only one awake, washing bottles and putting the kitchen to bed. Thank you so much for making me feel seen and reminding me how holy this work is and how truly grateful I am for the memories made while making these messes.

My twins just turned 10 years old. It gets easier mama! Take too many pictures and clean less and hold them more. The days can be long but trust me, the years are unfairly fast!! I got my masters when my twins were babies. It’s a lot. You can’t do it all and that’s ok.

Thank you for this! I used to be a touring Broadway actress and now I'm pregnant with my 4th (and my oldest is 5)! I got on a kick last night looking up all my actor friends from NYC and many, many of them are having stellar careers. Only a handful are married, and even fewer have kids. Definitely needed a reminder, as I huff and puff my way around my messy house with my huge belly, that my work matters more than any career. :)

Happy Thanksgiving, Houses are homes not museums. My home was full of kids visitors dogs cats families and more. We kept our home clean but lived in. We never apologized for that. We had a standing invitation that anyone was welcome anytime for any reason. Not everything matched not everything was new but it worked. I never judged anyone that came everyone always left with than they brought. We had several orphan adults with no family and no where to go for holidays and we invited them year after year until they became family. That home had two working kitchens and they both were going all out as we always had 20-30 folks come by. 2 turkeys 2 hams ect ect. we never asked anyone to bring anything but some would and did. That was the best and busiest chapter of my life. The kids are grown my first wife passed. I am remarried now in the suburbs. Never apologize for living in your home to anyone. If you are honest and work and clean and spend quality time with God, yourself, your spouse and your children then God bless you I am sure you have a home that I would love and would feel welcome in. Take time to acknowledge your contributions because they are valuable as Jill said and you / we are all valuable. So if all five shoes by the door are all pointing in different directions don't worry about straightening them or looking for shoe number six smile and say Jesus would like this home.

Jill I 100%agree with you, it's not the fancy things you have in life it's what and how you provide for your family, whether that's adding homegrown carrots to the dinner or making handmade Christmas cards with your kids out of card and leaves from the garden
, and I'm so happy you are showing to dirty pots in the sink as alot of t alot of people can relate to this, rather then a blogger who sits down in a sparkling white clean room with no mess whatsoever, that's not real life , you have a lovely home and family.

Jill from Minnesota here! Just a thought - adding tinctures into hot water. Adding tinctures even together? How does this change their bioavailability or possibly negate their benefits all together (or not). I am an RN and know that that combining/ingesting certain medications/supplements together can have effects that either negate the intended results, amplify, or . . . cause harm. Just because supplements are "natural" doesn't mean they can't cause harm.

It is sadly easy to sort of feel like you're invisible. You exist just to meet the needs of everyone else while your well is bone dry. I went through years feeling this way and allowing a seed of bitterness to root. Praise God for pulling me out of that pit! I am 66, and my two boys are grown and starting their families. My husband and I are living in the country and building our homestead. I see a change in the homemaking atmosphere. I see young women whose dream it is to be a wife and mother with no shame! These women need people like you, Jill, to encourage them. They need to find their tribe, a community of like-minded women to show them the way

    Yes 🙌
I needed to see this. My husband is deployed and it would be so nice to have a job outside the home to have people to connect with and validate me on a day to day basis. And im okay with being at home right now even though i have an education “im not using” because im never going to get this time back with my kids. They will never be this little again. We will never have this one on one time again. I’ve had so many people tell me “oh you just stay at home…” and so many more mothers tell me how much i will appreciate these memories and that they wish they had the opportunity to stay home with their children while they were small.

I just love how real you are Jill!!! I’m 60 years old now and my family still tease me about how from the earliest age like three at the oldest that even I can remember back to, all I ever wanted was to be a mommy. I wanted lots of kids and to be a stay at home wife and mother. Well I got married at 19 and by 20 I had my first child by 27 I had my fifth lol. I got the most amazing babies, even though my firstborn and my only boy is autistic. High functioning autism. It was so not easy so not easy. But he was perfect and is perfect. He’s loving, gorgeous and everything I ever wanted and then I got four gorgeous smart fabulous daughters too. Yes we were dirt poor, but we did not live off the system. I’m excellent at stretching money and cooking from nothing and my ex-husband worked hard all the time. The sad thing is that he isn’t sweet or kind. He was to other people just not to me and will leave it at that. Which is part of why I so enjoy watching you and Nate together. Because you both are genuinely kind sweet dear people and parents. But I understand what you were saying about what you’ve always wanted from the very beginning and how you also enjoy the little things, the special moments, the reading between the lines of day today moments and treasuring them. You were so genuine and neat to and those three girls could not be more precious, adorable and sweet. Just the kind of video I needed on Thanksgiving day. Happy Thanksgiving to your whole family we love you and you make our Thanksgiving better❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹

I focus on that I have amazing children and how I got to stay at home with them I don’t focus on the fact that we were poor And that my life was hard and isolated and my house was always a disaster no matter how hard I worked on it lol. I focus on every good little thing and the big things and watching my child sleep rocking my child to sleep and feeding my child. I felt blessed then and I feel blessed now. And I watch your family and jess’s family live my dream and that’s awesome. Because both of your families and both of you don’t take it for granted and you value every little thing. So I live my dream the part that I didn’t get to have vicariously through you Jill and Jess lol 🙏🏼. Seriously I do and I’m very happy that way🥰.

Houses are suppose to be a mess. If your house is not a mess it is not a home. Happy Thanksgiving.

Jill, I’ve recently found your videos and I can’t get enough! In the last 2 years I have felt the conviction of becoming a homemaker. Before that, I was a wife and a mom, but not a homemaker. I constantly searched for purpose and was trying to figure out “what I want to be when I grow up”. This video just confirmed what I’ve learned to be true. There is no greater joy (for me, at least) that being a homemaker, and realizing that has given me the greatest since of peace and joy. Thank you SO much for the beautiful videos you make and the Light that you shine. 💗 Also it’s a small world! I saw your P.O. box has a Vilonia address! That’s only 2 hours south from our little homestead! Hope you had a happy thanksgiving. 💗

OMG Jill! This video is soo perfect and soo spot on as to what is truly real in our day to day lives. Dishes get dirty, kitchens get messy, cooks get tired and need help...but all in all, the day was good and we are all blessed beyond our means and we must take the time to be intentional about giving thanks and gratitude where it is needed. Personally, I don't like the cookie cutter videos out there where everyone is decorating it all perfect and and all and although they certainly are making it all lovely and festive, I sometimes just want to watch a real family doing real life things and things are not always perfect...nor should they be right? I mean we don't run on batteries and all that. You guys would enjoy listening to one of "Scotty McCreery's" songs called "Dirty Dishes" as it is all about everything you just highlighted in this video. Loved it...we all need more videos like this! Happy Thanksgiving guys!
