Janos is a great iconic and important character in lok lore He enhanced the blade and became it's guardian and made a whole vampire race like vorador then kain indirectly while he carried his heart all along , also being possessed by the hylden lord. And ultimately entitled "the greatest vampire".
Oh man, thank you for this though, it clears up some confusing things I saw as plot holes specifically his appearance in Blood Omen 2 that I didn't understand :D
The point about Janos being the only character to have a surname is interesting, but what if the other characters had names we don't know about? Mobius Smith, Malek Jones, Raziel de la cruz, Nupraptor McDonald..... 🤣🤣

Raina if you and your friend read this. Could you talk about this? I have been thinking about the events of the games again, and I just want to know. Do you guys think Future Kain was skulking around Nosgoth during the events of Blood Omen 2 after Defiance possibly? And if so, what might he be doing, did he resurrect Vorador per chance while incognito or some such in an effort to help Blood Omen 1 Kain defeat the Hylden lord so the events of Soul Reaver 1 can happen? And if that is so, does that make (Soul Reaver 2 and Defiance' first half of the game) Blood Omen 1 (Defiance second half of the game) (Blood Omen 2) Soul Reaver 1 Soul Reaver 2 then Defiance all over again? cyclical like a paradox? Do you think Amy Hennig intended for the series to playout like that in case another game was never made? The pillars of Nosgoth haven't been restored in Blood Omen 2 barely even mentioned if at all- So long as the vampires are holding out, the pillars will remain even if they are shattered the world is still holding out. Which might be why Blood Omen 2 is drenched in Darkness the entire game... I think Blood Omen 2 had to ignore the pillars they couldn't resolve the story because if they did, it would break the cycle of the story, preventing Soul Reaver 1 for happening. IN a way this almost makes Blood Omen 2 a special favorite of mine, is the story hammy? YES, but I really feel like I'm playing as Blood Omen 1 Kain, an arrogant crude nobleman who hasn't gotten any wiser just yet... Please explore this when you're not doing concrete lore, I really wanna hear your speculations if you go deep down the rabbit hole. I 'will' let the winding plot line looping back on itself rip my brains asunder! I revel in the confusion and speculation! I hope the franchise never disappears from public knowledge or whatever ya call it.

Fallouts of course I know by reputation and colleagues constantly talking about it since 1998 :) I was into RPGs on the PSX ;) There is still a cornucopia of rpg games on PC that I have not finished or even started... but friends was playing them to the hardcore so I was able to see among other things Hearts of Fury and others 99/255/max lv characters and the endgame shenanigans ;)

Re-watching some of these videos after today's episode dropped, I suddenly noticed something about Blood Omen 2's opening. Why is it centered on the Pillar of Energy? As the camera pulls back we can't see the Pillar of Balance, though it should be between (and in front of) Nature and Energy. Besides that the order's correct if we skip Balance, (Nature, ~Balance~ Energy, Time) so they knew the correct order. Did someone maybe just see the Energy symbol looks like a B and assumed B is for Balance? And looking again at the opening again to make sure I'm not going mad, I noticed the map of Nosgoth only shows eight pillars in its image.
for a series about time loops, paradoxes and unbroken series of events, i think the series ends as well as it ever could. wouldn't be fair to the voice actors to drag em back into the game after so long!

Why there is always "with the little help of the wraith blade" when it is obvious that it is a part of a hylden soul absorbed by raziel with the soul of Turel that helps to revive the Janos body...

And about returning souls to the Wheel...yes, Turel`s soul returned to the Wheel...but what if EG cannot absorbs the souls of the Hylden?
@@leddigga9008 The green glow is there only temporarily in Raziel´s eyes in Avernus. Raziel describes it as the place fueling his rage and then it subsides after tearing the heart out. It vanishes afterwards. There is no green glow during Janos´ resurrection, there is only blue glow above his chest where his soul is coming back to his body. EG can absorb anything which his agents consume. Janos is later possessed by the Hylden Lord, that´s why his eyes glow green.

By the way, maybe you could help me with another question...There is one mural that I do not understand - about ancient vampires commiting suicides and the Wheel of Fate. How come they still returning to Nosgoth as vampires as it depicted? As the Elder God says "the souls of the dead remained trapped, I cannot spin them in the Wheel of Fate..." but their souls now becoming free for devour by the Elder...And still they are returning as vampires, though because of their sterility they cannot be born again. Of course, their souls could reinhabit the bodies, but would the Sluagh and ex-vampire wraiths let them go so easily?

I’ll be honest soul reaver 2 hooked me with its story but I never understood why llanos just didn’t like fly off the balcony lol. But also I was mad because I took forever figuring out the llanos air combo puzzle and I was like pfft I would’ve seen someone following me after all that time lol
From my point of view it looked like he tried to sacrifice himself to buy more time for raziel to escape he's terrified of his appearance being cruelly tested also since he believed with his heart that raziel was the saviour of nosgoth as a keaper of reaver and last ancient of course he gonna do what in his power to protect his ala successor

Because in that case I don't need a new game, I kind of still like Blood Omen's story if it takes place after Defiance, with future Kain as a simple observer. Kain knows about Janos for sure but they have never seen each other face to face so it makes no sense for Janos to know anything about Kain and i doubt the hylden lord came down with tea and biscuits telling tales about Kain to him lol
He is familiar with the prophecy of the scion of balance. He also mentions that to Raziel in the game defiance. In soul reaver 2 he instantly recognizes Raziel yet he never saw him before. However he knows the prophecy of the vampire champion.
the Lore and the cyclical nature of time in Nosgoth hints that its for the same reason Raziel didnt die when he was executed in the Lake of the Dead and why nothnig seems ot be able ot kill him off. Both Raziel and Kain must live to play the events that end up with Raziel being Consumed by the Reaver at the hands of Kain, any attempts to avoid this will shift history in a way that it eventually happens anyway unless a major paradox is in play(the 2 reavers interacting). so in a Sense Raziel is immortal and a Creature of Free will due to Causality, and After their confrontation at Avernus Kain Became one aswell.
@@RainaAudron definitely so, it's a pity that earlier I did not dare to separate the symbols of people, hilden and Saradin-ancient vampires (in my opinion, not a suitable name) It would be interesting to know what languages people and non-people speak in Nosgoth, I think people use Latin and Germanic languages, besides, I met Arabs in Soul reaver 1, in the city of people, and Africans in Blood omen 2 (This I liked a part very much, although many do not respect it), so, most likely, in that world there are all the languages of our world, only Latin predominates in the nasgoth. sorry if the translation is strange and because there is a lot of text =]
@@shadowwayfarer3090 It is interesting you mentioned it as I have discovered last night that the Empire script (SR1 era) is based on Latin, at least in form. There definitely must be a common tongue which all races speak (going by the names of towns in BO1, German or a variant of it seems most likely), otherwise they wouldn´t be able to communicate between themselves. Both Ancients and Hylden had their own tongue but when Janos speaks to Raziel, I assume he speaks in the common tongue (hence his accent). It is a bit difficult as we only perceive the events through 1 unilateral language when playing the game so we can understand everything. No worries, I had to use google translate on your first reply too, I think it works ok :)
I dont know why,but everytime in defiance janos sends us to the elder gods chamber......i hate him soooo much - knowing what will happen....he gave him his destiny in a way i understand but near the end hes like, i dont know your real destiny but go to the god who betrayed us xD i like his role but near the end i really hate him.i remember how angry i was in soul reaver 2 - when they killed him....and at the end something like that xD

It was always the intention to use Janos´ Retreat soundtrack for a video about Janos. The bgm is half its normal volume and speech is also emphasised so you should be able to understand everything clearly.

Once Raziel absorbs souls, they pass through to EG to feed on them. In this scene, we can see the wraithblade activate right before Janos is revived.

Janos could have teleported both himself and Raziel out of there. Or flown them out. Just saying.

In blood omen 2 when kain meets janos first time they both have the heart of darkness. Why doesnt this make time paradox?
Only 2 Soul Reavers (Raziel's souls) have that effect.

Thanks! The entities possessing Turel are different from the one (Hylden Lord) who possessed Mortanius first and then Janos.

Defiance provides closure for several characters, however, elder Kain is far from finishing with EG, though.

There definitely must be a common tongue which all races speak (going by the names of towns in BO1, German or a variant of it seems most likely), otherwise they wouldn´t be able to communicate between themselves. Both Ancients and Hylden had their own tongue but when Janos speaks to Raziel, I assume he speaks in the common tongue (hence his accent). It is a bit difficult as we only perceive the events through 1 unilateral language when playing the game so we can understand everything.

I dont know why,but everytime in defiance janos sends us to the elder gods chamber......i hate him soooo much - knowing what will happen....he gave him his destiny in a way i understand but near the end hes like, i dont know your real destiny but go to the god who betrayed us xD i like his role but near the end i really hate him.i remember how angry i was in soul reaver 2 - when they killed him....and at the end something like that xD

I love your videos but your background music sounds like old pipes making a stretch sound running water in a windy house, its very unpleasant and to loud when compared to your talking.

Fun fact: the bgm is the soundtrack played at janos's retreat in Soul Reaver 2
It was always the intention to use Janos´ Retreat soundtrack for a video about Janos. The bgm is half its normal volume and speech is also emphasised so you should be able to understand everything clearly.
Hmmm now thinking about those relics hearts of darkness i assume vorador tried to create a replica for janos and none of those worked
