    Thanks for the review, I've been looking at getting the mittens to replace the God awful hoof model I have. My pair of hoofs seem to be the worst one around, they have not lasted 6 months using 1-2 times per week

    we made a Video about gloves as well. There is so much new stuff currently. Maybe I should do a new one :)
    But I love the sparring gloves but I switched to HeavyLobster Red with the seperate Index Finger!

    I feel that for more inexperienced students the wrist protection is a bit more too lacking. The chance of s really heavy hit there is not negligible

      Almost everyone of my students haves the sparring gloves and we had, on one year, zero problems with the wrist protection, the protection is slightly lesser but is still relevant.

      @Ross Allen I like the Hour Glass cuff, but they have other kind of lacks in my opinion, one of them is while crossing hands for some kind of actions, which becomes a bit clumsy. It is also slightly easier to lose the glove during stretto actions. But anyway, both of them have pros and cons in my opinion.

      @Ross Allen Interesting, I had some occasion to try them and I was not really amazed, but I will give them a second try in the future.

    What is it about this glove that makes it unsuitable for single-armed swords like arming swords or messers?

    Hi Federico,
    I decided to buy a corona feder thx to ur review.
    however i also need to get some gloves and i origianally planed to buy some spes black or reds (long waiting times for the red and black atm).
    i do longsword and pollaxe.
    do you think the sparring gloves mittens are the best for pollaxe?
    Thank you alot

      Hi. Honestly speaking I consider poleaxe really dangerous even in its rubber version if not by going slow. To me it’s better to have an half armor to use it. Like helm, gloves and chest.
      But if you go slowly then everything is ok. SPES Gloves are more protective so you may go for them if you go for this weapons. SG sacrifice a bit of protection but are lesser bulky, but in this specific case they may be inferior to spes.

    I thought it was just my bad luck, but after hearing you mention it, are pinky injuries a common problem with these gloves? Because i ended up with a broken little finger (hit wasn't especially hard) while wearing my SGs.

    • @FedericoMalagutti
      @FedericoMalagutti  4 года назад +1

      I think it's both. Probalbly some of them have more protection or lesser on this specific part. Let's say that is the only part which doesn't come always with a standard lvl of protection. This is also probably due to measures and hands shape. And well, there is also some luck involved sadly.
      With my one I felt some hits, but I never had bsruises or whatever.

      I think you're right there. I have large hands that are probably shaped in a way to confound glove makers lol. I haven't had any kind of problem with them apart from that though. Good gloves. Used to use the Könnigs but SGs are much better imo.
      Thanks for the reply :-)

    I used spes heavies for a few years before switching to these. The thumb on the SGs is much better, but I find the grip on the rest of the fingers to feel more restrictive than with Spes.
    I also added a small plate to the wrist of the SG after seeing since broken wrists on other users.

      Hi Calum. Did you follow any guide or tutorial when modding your gloves for the extra wrist protection? thanks

  • @bobu5213
    @bobu5213 4 года назад +2

    What did you wear on the inside? Open hands are always a bit iffy to me. I can't think of what it would be like for a thrust to go into the open hand

    • @FedericoMalagutti
      @FedericoMalagutti  4 года назад +2

      I wear a normal leather glove. I never received a thrust inside of the hand anyway.

    Would you recommend the regular, or the long cuff one?

    • @FedericoMalagutti
      @FedericoMalagutti  3 года назад

      I prefer the regular which are convenient with my spes elbow protections. But other people prefers the long cuffs (like my GF) so it depends. By now I prefer short+elbows protections.

    Do I have to buy separate gloves to wear under the mittens?

    • @FedericoMalagutti
      @FedericoMalagutti  3 года назад +1

      Yes, a pair of gardening gloves is perfect.

    • @damianengels3249
      @damianengels3249 3 года назад

      Thanks for quick response, like... simple garden gloves? Can you show me the ones you use? If that simply work with cheap gloves under the mittens, that would be pretty cool in terms of holding them clean

    • @FedericoMalagutti
      @FedericoMalagutti  3 года назад

      @@damianengels3249 I use really cheap leather gloves, to me the shape is not that relevant, I don’t even know the brand of mine to show you but: if it’s leather, go go it.
      I pay May one around 4-5 euros a pair, I use them a 2 or 3 months and then I change them (I tend to use them quite a lot).
