I couldn't agree more. This is for PC gamers not console gamers. Performance is fantastic. I had an OG Deck for a year and haven't turned it on once since getting my Ally. The only thing I want from the ally 2 would be a larger screen, I don't even want and OLED this thing is great as it is... just want it bigger!

Picked up my Asus Rog 5 (ten cent version) back in 2021...notorious motherboard issues that year didn't fail to introduce themselves to me about 6 months in. It's still going though just without one speaker working anymore for about a year now as well as the audio jack and finally the sim started randomly disconnecting so now I'm just using it connected to my wifi. I've really only been into CODM and now Warzone mobile, I don't want another 750 dollar gaming phone I want the rog ally extreme, I just hope it runs on my wifi as well as my old beat up rog 5 does. Good work keeping folks informed young man, good job.
Bought my rog ally for $600 and I am very happy with my purchase. Its compact, comfortable to hold and powerful handheld. I never thought I can play ps3 emulator in (god of war trilogy) and triple a games such as cyberpunk, jedi fallen order, horizon forbidden west, spiderman remastered via steam at 60 fps constant. My favorite point that no one else seems to make is working backwards from the games you like to play, for example: preferring the Ally for FPS games. It is the right way IMO to look at it. Working backwards from the games you like to play. Nice video!

I just got mine last week and im absolutely loving it! I already have a 4080 pc, so im not planning on playing any super demanding games on it while im home, but i have the option to when i travel. Ive mainly been using it for an emulation handheld and its awesome! Nes, snes, but moreso ps1/2 and gamecube. Can play em on the go in silent mode no problem, or when im at home i dock it to my tv and use a ps5 controller. So much more versatility than a steam deck cause its a proper windows handheld. The steam deck does what it does very well, and sure you can finagle it and put an OS on it, but yeah. Great purchase! Prices have come down since release too. The z1 extreme is $599 at best buy but i got a practicall brand new condtion open box one (still had the box and everything with it) at BB for $500!

Coming from a Switch, the Steam deck has been a nightmare. I have games on GOG and Epic from PC, that I don't even know how to get working on Steam Deck. I returned it and got a Rog Ally, where I could just easily install everything, and I am happy again lol, the Rog is also much quieter.
I'd be happy if the Ally 2 does a 7.5 inch Oled display but with VRR..endgame right there

I really enjoyed this review. No yelling, no convoluted tech speak or unnecessarily throwing expensive tech(that was your friend at least lmao ) into trashes and whatnot. You spoke about all the things that I think the average person wants to know about. I really hope I can get one soon! But now you also got me worried once I get one that there will already be a second one coming out right after. lol
You can just skip the second generation and get the third or fourth generation instead. The power increase won't be significant with the next generation or more revision. I assume there will be yearly releases like laptops.
Really enjoyed the video. I love my ROG Ally as well. Won't get rid of it. Might do some mods tho.
Keep up with the quality content brother, you're the reason why I chose ally even though its out of my options. Unlike other "big" channels, you give the feedback of a true gamer, thinking not only about the display and weight but by the "use" of the handheld.

I absolutely love my ROG ally! It performs incredibly! Just gotta make some adjustments. For me ive noticed that setting it to 6G for gpu, 20W for power, and turning off cpu boost gives me excellent performance and quality without going up to 80 for temp so that way i wont overheat the charging port. All you need is a solid power bank and the battery issue is solved. I bought one on amazon that magnetizes to the ally so you can take it anywhere without wires hanging. I also have a 65w car charger so im good on trips.
I have all three, LLG, ALLY, and STEAMDECK. Ally beats all of them... by a long shot.

@lilbenate660 I like the legion go if it's on a tabletop with the kickstand out. However as a handheld I really think it's awful, just too big. It feels cool holding it for a minute and playing on with the controllers but after 15 min the novelty of huge screen fades away and I just want to set it down. Doesn't really feel like a handheld honestly, more like a tablet with controllers on the side

Great review, I’ve had my Ally since launch day and have played it almost every single day since. My Series X has been collecting dust. Can’t wait for the Ally 2 but I really hope they keep VRR, would choose that over the OLED any day

If only they would fix the windows crashing your games when you try to resume from sleep mode. Do set it to hibernate using the button than sleep. It is a bit slower, but I have not had a game crash from it yet.
I'm a 100% with you, BUT as Asus just announced the Ally 2, I'd go with the Steamdeck OLED right now. The resale value will be higher if you then switch to the Ally 2 next year.
I actually sold my 3070 gaming laptop as I simply was not using it at all. This thing is nuts. It keeps getting better too as they are updating this thing continuously. Its the best handheld I have ever used.
Genuine advice: maybe add some type of outro or music indicating that your video is going to end because they always end so abruptly!
My Rog Ally actually broke, after the BIOS update it stopped turning on, only the Asus screen appears and then the black screen flashes twice and the BIOS doesn't open either, we've even tried to insert it back into the chip, without success, I believe something burned on the motherboard. CHALLENGE AND REWARD, whoever comes up with the solution to this problem, if I can't solve it, I bought the most expensive paperweight of my life.

ummm you can have VRR with OLED so thats not an issue, if anything an OLED panel with VRR would be End Game for a screen!

I play proclubs alot it's flawless 960p All medium settings 120hz no hiccups or lag just need good WiFi as for anything wireless

Legion go because fps games don’t hit like they used to and there’s better RPG titles coming out. (Legion = immersion)

Have both, love both, but steam deck is way more comfortable in hands and overall controls are way ahead, IMO it perfectly fills the gap between Switch and Rog Ally.
Ally is a better choice if it's your ONLY gaming pc, since it will chew through whatever game you'll throw at it and will allow for much easier game modding.
But prepare to live plugged in or hooked up to a power brick, Ally's battery dies before I can decide which game I want to play.
Really consider every video you upload try not to contradict yourself in future videos (not saying you have) but I see a lot of channels upload a video saying “NEW UPDATE MAKES LEGION GO UNSTOPPABLE.” Then 2 days later say “LEGION GO UPDATE ISNT WHAT WE THOUGHT Itd BE.” By the way I subbed keep going and continue too keep us informed!

Been loving your channel and I got my ally Jan 16 and been using it every day and love it, still interested in maybe picking up steam deck oled or a legion go just to have another handheld that I can load up with more of my games that won’t fit on my ally I’ve filled the hard drive and my 1tb sd on it
I use a pair of neck speakers with my Steamdeck OLED. I couldn't use them with my old LCD because the bluetooth delay was too noticable, but there is little to no delay with the updated bluetooth module in the OLED. The sound is truley transformative and is multiple levels above anything you would get from a handheld! They're called the Sony SRS-NS7 if anyone is interested.

@@CyberDopamineI know it's crazy right! I have an OLED and LCD steam deck here and the new Bluetooth chip and newly included antenna really help! I wasn't expecting to make as much difference as it did lol
wanna see some dpad gaming... contra, fighting games, try Soul Calibur, and games where you have to tap forward twice to dash, some users claim that the dpad inputs up during this process sometimes and makes their character jump
I love my rog ally I been using it to play PC games and alot of emulation and I can't believe how good the rog ally runs God of War 3 on rpsc3 and many other games

I just bought an ally 2 days ago cause best buy has them on sale and im not gonna lie my only complaint is ive charged it like 15 times already but and i dont even have the leds on but yeah ive never owned a handheld pc i guess thats what everyones calling em i skipped the steam deck cause my friend told me all the stuff you have to do to get like emulators up and stuff and i wasnt gonna do that but this thing can be in my hands for hours and my hands wont feel like this things heavy and all in all real glad i bought this

So I have a Steamdeck LCD and I have this urge to buy something as an upgrade, I can't decide between the oled sd, the Legion or the Ally. I am a geeky so I don't mind tweaking.
As of now, if you had to choose one, what would it be ?
I have the SD and the Ally.... I am a laptop user and the Rog Ally has blown me away with the performance. It's insane. I have actually sold my gaming laptop as It was collecting dust. If you could look past the flaws, you will love this.
Wait for the newer version of Rog coming out at the end of the year.

10:30 That's a very low number based on population but very high number based on real world things like incomes. This is a luxury product in a market where many don't even have a PC. I have seen a lot of people that are interested in the ALLY, given some people many hours to test games.
Everyone is confused between Deck and ALLY but in India it is a simple answer Deck isn't officially launched so no RMA but ALLY had launched and has RMA.

You might have convinced me to buy a Rog Ally instead of a Lenovo Legion Go.
I currently have the day 1 LED Steamdeck, but I'm not satisfied with it. I prefer to play more triple A titles. I want something to play when I'm at work. I work 12hr shifts, with lots of breaks (6hrs working 6hr breaks). So I'm always near an outlet, battery performance isn't an issue for me. But I'm unsure what would be the better choice between a Legion and a Ally. SOMEONE PLEASE GIVE ME SOME INSIGHT! I feel I should also add that I don't have wifi at work, so singleplayer triple A games will be my go to.

Go with power and learn about windows. It is good for the brain and levels you up in the knowledge skill
@@CyberDopamine that is tempting, but I do have a really nice gaming pc already that I've learned alot about windows, is the rog ally getting easier to use windows in that form factor? My only hesitation is I don't want to spend 20 to 30 minutes optimizing games to get them to run properly.

@optimalbonkerz thanks broski! Yeah man it’s not a huge deal and if you already know windows, I’d totally get it. You can always get a steamdeck and then return it and since legion go is Best Buy, you have a 14 day return policy so you can actually try them out

My ROG Ally had a screen burn in on the just after 10 days despite being a non-OLED screen.
Send it back to Asus for replacement
