    Can’t believe they killed off Howard, Lalo, and Jimmy three episodes in a row

  • @TylerNorCal
    @TylerNorCal 2 года назад +59

    Imo the Gus scene was showing us who Gus wants to be in his heart. He finally could be himself after Lalo and the Cartel threat was gone and he likes that guy and wants to be like a sophisticated guy that drinks wine and is fancy, etc...but when he realizes he's enjoying himself and letting his guard down, he snaps back into Gus mode bc he's chosen this path of revenge and can't risk getting someone else he cares about involved...its a very sad scene imo but a perfect end to his arc, we finally saw him be himself.

    • @FreshZCORD
      @FreshZCORD 2 года назад +2

      @@DIEGOSHAY well Id say he is a bit different from Hector who takes pleasure in his villainy and he does have more of a honor code. However its true that Mike has killed people himself, in is responsible for helping a drug kingpin stay in power. In while he does feel bad about anyone getting hurt not in the game, its not enough for him to stop him from helping the ones hurting people not in the game.

    Forgive me, this is going to be a long comment:
    (01) Honestly I have a hard time grading the last three episodes ("Plan and Execution", "Point and Shoot" and "Fun and Games") individually, because put together the whole thing feels like a three part series finale bringing the curtain down on pre-Walter White Albuquerque. I mean "Execution" and "Shoot"* probably hit me the hardest, but the story ain't done until Kim breaks up with Jimmy.
    *And you would think watching Howard getting assassinated in "Execution" would be the most horrific moment of the three, but "Shoot" somehow managed to double down what with Jimmy being bound to an overturned chair in front of Howard's corpse and said Corpse being unceremoniously tossed into a mass grave with the guy who shot him.
    (02) The wine scene with Gus. So the thing about Gus' sexuality is that it was never stated concretely that he was in fact homosexual or that Max was in fact his lover -- this was just something insinuated by members of the cartel and heavily implied by the show. So the significance of the scene with the waiter is that it's the first (and so far only) scene where Gus is comfortable enough to let his guard down and openly flirt with someone -- and thus the closest Gus himself comes to confirming that he is in fact gay. But the point of the scene (I think) is to illustrate the tagic cost of Gus' need to avenge Max. The waiter was clearly interested in Gus, and Gus in him, but Gus refuses to mourn Max and move on, choosing instead to wallow in his grief so that he can motivate his vendetta against the cartel.
    (03) Some other things I've noticed:
    *Saul drinks from a "World's Greatest Lawyer" mug in his office, a mug that was present in the show. He is in fact the World's Greatest Lawyer because Chuck committed Suicide, Howard was murdered and Kim quit the law.
    *Both in "Breaking Bad" and in the coda for "Fun and Games", there is a "Better Call Saul" marquee sign with an arrow pointing down, but it's presence in "Games" has a double meaning:
    Within the context of "Games", the arrow is pointing to Saul's office, but given that the first time we see said sign in the prequel series is after the show makes the final jump to the "Breaking Bad" era, one could read the sign as saying that the Breaking Bad episode "Better Call Saul" goes "Here" in the timeline of Jimmy McGill's character.
    *Gus orchestrated the death of Nacho Varga, who put Hector Salamanca in a wheel chair, Gus orchestrated the death of Lalo Salamanca, who provided Hector with a bell, Gus orchestrated the physical therapy of Hector Salamanca so that he was confined to the wheelchair and could only ring the bell, and he seduced Walter White into working at his super-lab, which led to Walter White providing Hector with the bomb. Hector sat in Nacho's chair and rang Lalo's bell which activated Walt's bomb, killing Gus.

    Kim dirty for that line to Howard's wife, they knew she had him in the dog house and that it wasn't known that they were having issues with their marriage and that she wouldn't know if he was using coke. Then throwing that in her face to make her feel guilty about how she treated him. My heart sank when they got to the parking garage, the way the shot lingered before they kissed I knew immediately it was a goodbye kiss and that she was done being there.

    I like when formal said we don't know her side of the story in a earlier episode because its truth its easy to judge her. We still don't know her side and either way that pouring his coffee thing was crazy. I doubt Howard did something that bad to deserve that. Nonetheless characters in a story and also people in real life aren't defined by one moment, she stuck up for Howard here, showed she cared at the end of the day and I respect that.

    I think the Gus scene was to show that he has no room for love in his life anymore. He got into the game with his (presumed) lover, being Max, and he ended up getting killed as Gus brought him into the game. Gus and the bartender were flirting, and you see Gus genuinely smile, but then right as he leaves, he takes a sip of the wine, which was described as tasting like blood. And with that, the reality sets in that he has no room for love in this game he's gotten himself into. Part of him wants to take the bartender home and crack open that wine bottle, but he knows that there is no room for that in his world. It will only get someone hurt. Like the title implies, its all fun and games until somebody gets hurt. There is no room for fun and games in this game he's involved with (which is something that Kim remarks on later in the episode)

That was the final straw for kim she does what she has to do to get away but this was too much in the parking lot where they first met that kiss was not lust it was a goodbye kiss. KimSenberg man i’m 💀
    You’re damn right, she would have served as a perfect right hand to Walt in Breaking Bad.
    EDIT: This is in my opinion one of the best hours of television ever made. Best episode of the show so far!

    21:07 what the hell else is she supposed to there, man lol?? she tells this one final lie (to sell the story. which they H A V E to do, or else face dire consequences from Gus and co.), and then quits the law and leaves Jimmy (VERY clearly seeing the errors of her wayss. she hopes that by leaving him and the law, she can minimize the damage she can potentially do in the world).
    She never intended or wanted Howard to die. When this tragedy happened, she actually reflected on, learned from her mistakes, and took action to do better. And that's that :|
    (also, hope that this isn't coming off as angry or whatever lol. tone can get lost online easily. just expressing my thoughts, is all)

    "If enough people tell you that you're drunk, it's time that you listen" Howard's words to Chuck during his first attempt of kicking him out of HHM. It's like Howard's ghost was speaking to her prior to the break up.

    This shit one of the best episodes no lie. I’m sayin the Howard and the nacho ones I like more but this shit an easy like 9.7/10 for me atleast. Everything was perfect besides the Gus wine scene. Not that I don’t like that shit but it’s a little boring but I get what they were tryna do u feel me

      Feel like that would've undercut everything that happened in the episode. We were meant to sit with the breakup and let it marinate

    Kim chooses to leave law cause she can't justify doing law anymore she broke all her oaths she feels guilty she probably didn't take the Sandpiper money cause it's blood money. Even when u see her in the last scene it is so uncharacteristic of her to where those kind of clothes their breakup just broke my heart cause they do love each other to death but they know staying together is not the right choice we finally see them saying they love each other first time on screen. If u watch bb saul said to the vacuum guy what is in Nebraska so he doesn't know kim is in Nebraska

      Plus Kim has stated there's nothing there for her, I don't believe she'd ever go back to her hometown that she wanted to escape from
