- G'Day Folks. A quick look at the change of plans I have for the new system as well as a quick update. I also added an explanation on how I'll be moving plants from the old system to the 2 new aquaponic systems.

Hi Rob, It would be best to not have the IBC galvanized cages above the sump. They will corrode and rusted metal will accumulate in the sump. It happened to me and killed my trout. It looks like normal sediment in the sump and can be collected with a magnet. May take a few years but it will happen.
Cheers for that Jim. I've noticed that they do rust & swap them out when I see that happen. In saying that, the current one is getting rather crusty at the moment.

Do tell, can I use charcoals as a medium.
Currently clay pebs... n gravel medium are a task to obtain
I've seen folks say that they will be using it but am yet to see a large bed (300L/80gal grow bed) filled with it.
Best place to ask would be on one of the forums or social media groups I think.
