LOL, who's competing with who anyway and who cares? These successful content creators are friends and boost each other so they all make it. Why hype and make imaginary fight? The name of their channel itself says they're the "BEST" already, either it means they're narcissistic or just trolling for clickbait which is effective. The self-proclaimed title is catchy ngl
Hi proud Marylander here. To say I'm proud of our crabs would be a huge understatement. To some here it's more than just a culture that brings people together so thanks for coming by to show our Chesapeake bay!
Us Marylanders have a pride for our state that the rest of the union just doesn't understand.😂😂 Maryland ❤
YES AMEN
I swear bro we really got the best seafood ong
My mom is from Emmitsburg MD, and when I was a boy and we went to visit my grandma, we'd always go to the Ott House and get grocery bags full of blue crabs in Old Bay. We'd take them back to Grandma's, lay out newspaper on the living room floor, and break up/eat crab all afternoon. We were poor, but ALWAYS did this. Thanks for awakening those great memories. I miss Grandma a lot.
Emmitsburg is a lovely town. We used to go through it after visiting my great aunt who was a nun who resided at the National Seton Shrine in Emmitsburg.
Great childhood memories of eating crabs in my grandparents back yard..
me and my brother used to crab off the dock and catch crabs all day for my grandmother, she would just sit on the porch and eat them. We were young we had more fun just catching them and didn't care about eating them, so she made out like a bandit.
i love the ott house, Im from Frederick MD!
that's awesome Luke McFadden gets some publicity in the video. His videos are great!
Thanks!
Yeah, I’ve been following him since last year. I really like his videos too!
It’s crazy how long ago he posted a short with the guy from this channel and just now this video comes out
About time it got posted!
@@fvsoutherngirl Agreed. So glad you are getting more exposure. Love to see this side of Maryland represented
CJ looks like a whole different person without the sunglasses on
I was kinda feeling like that also but dang I didn’t think today was the day they was going to release this because cj made a post a little while back on his ig

Marylanders don't boil crabs! They steam them. 🦀
When I lived in Virginia Beach I never bought crabs bc they boiled them!! Gross!
CORRECT! I GREW UP IN ELLICOTT CITY, BEEN TO OCEAN CITY MANY TIMES, SEAFOOD IS GREAT BUT CRABS ARE STEAMED ONLY!!!!
Even In South Carolina we know to steam our crabs unless we are making Beaufort stew/crab boil but Luke definitely steamed the crabs they were eating.
Streaming is boiling without water. Duh. Oh… maybe not.
@@PhoenixRising734 considering steam requires moist heat. The heat is created by boiling water which vaporizes into steam…..so essentially it’s damn near the same shit 🤣🤷🏾♀️

This is not just a food & travel channel ....This is a cultural documentary that makes me appreciate our planet and I will support this channel till I'm an old man. 🥰👍
So glad you visited my home state! Greetings from Ocean City, MD.
Great show! U did MD crabs justice!! BUT
1. You said boil more than once. We steam crabs here!! Usually with beer and seasoning of choice. We leave the boiled crabs to Louisiana
2. Eastern shore is really putting JO on the map! I can officially say it is the superior seafood seasoning (yes, better than old bay)
3. Soft shell crabs are amazing but I think they are best lightly fried. Sue ur momma.
4. S/o to Luke who is killing it on social media. Keep up the great work fellas.
5. Odessy Crab House, Ive never heard of you......but im comin for u!
He didn't assume the methods these people cook their crabs. He's going off what they're doing in front of him and what they tell him. If they're boiling their crabs they're boiling their crabs 🤷🏾♀️
@@kyraweech9117 He was just using the term "crab boil" in the same way someone would say "crab feast". He was not actually describing the cooking method. He just used the term as if it was universal not realizing how sensitive us Marylanders can be about it 🙂.
The speech about the sustainability of the fisherman in that place really got me, I felt that a lot. Thats how it should be

That was EPIC
I am Md's neighbor,
Delaware. Love the Md's blue crab. Fond memories catching them, cooking them with old bay seasoning, and eating them till we were tired picking cuz ya never got full for some reason. The experience is wonderful 🦀🦀🦀
I was very surprised to not see Old Bay
They have their own seasonings mix that they stand by
Because it's gross lol
@@bobbyj1917damn right real waterman use JO lol
me too lol
Old Bay is for tourists - JO is what we really use in MD
I love the outtakes! Thanks for continuing to do it!!!!
I used to fish for blue crabs as a young child in Puerto Rico - we used a piece of meat on a string and a bent wire clothes hanger (you hook the claw).
I was born and raised in Maryland best Crab Cakes in the country 😊
Best crab cakes in the world!!!
Truly, the Only crab cakes in t World. Keep your filling, breading and hype, give us from Maryland a real crab cake!
I live on the Chesapeake. I boat, fish and crab here all the time. Tks for coming here.
This is my culture thru and thru this video ❤thanks for giving Marylanders this shine.
By far my favorite episode out all of the videos I’ve watched I live 30 minutes from OCMD and I love the crabs in Maryland
I was waiting to see this episode in Maryland. I live in Maryland and definitely crabs 🦀 are big here and we very proud of it
I love seeing old pics of him he looks so cute n innocent
The blue crabs are much smaller than they were 20 years ago.
Thank you for the content. Maryland and the NE states are still open for living a quiet life.
What's allowed to be harvested is smaller. A move that increases the sustainability of the fishery.
just simple population. A lot more people over the years = less and less crabs you have to eat = the higher the price. 40+ years ago of course there were less people, thus more crabs. Same with everything, increasing human population = less resources.
"If your friend likes you, they will have a crab feast with you."
Can confirm. My sister and her family live in Maryland. Every time I go to visit, they make it a point to eat dinner at least one night at a local crab tent or have a boil at home. When I come home to the midwest I have literal cravings for it.
wrr
Really like watching Luke on tiktok, you learn so much. Even learned more with this video!
I have never seen a crab cake like this. I'd love to try one of these!
I never understood why people eat the bread with flavor versions.
People only eat those because that's what most restaurants offer, and because the retail cost of crab is so high. Each of the crab cakes in the video would cost around $30 in a restaurant.
Was waiting for the Maryland episode. Welcome dude!
Sonny! This video as is all your videos was awesome! I wish Luke and CJ the best! I really want crab now haha! Can't wait for the next adventure! ❤😊🦀
Aren't soft shell crabs glorious? There's also nothing like a bushel of crabs and a bushel of friends just picking' and drinking' .
I grew up catching them and yet can't stand to eat them because of the look 😂
Is that like when the baker can't stand bread? Lol
@@stevie4641 no idea lol they have just always creeped me out. It's weird too because I have almost no phobias and handled 1,000s of crabs
@@AngryDad. Their look is truly something out of this world.
Soft-shelled crabs are best fried in bacon or ham grease.
As a Marylander born and raised, I was super delighted that you did an episode/video on our world famous blue crabs and the hard work of commercial crabbing on the Bay. Sonny, I urge you to come back for a second tour as there are tons of other great things to cover in Maryland beyond crabs. An episode or episodes on the Eastern Shore would definitely take viewers through some breathtaking views of beach and shore life. But also there are hidden gem beer breweries that would let you do videos in the area of farm to table. And of course your tour should include Washington, DC and parts of Northern VA. For example, two unique multiple Michelin star places like Inn at Little Washington or Jose Andreas's Minibar have been covered by the media before but never by food travel influencers. I know your team has a lot of locals to choose from each year, especially when you have the full globe to choose from but Maryland should definitely be a follow-on stop for your next tour back in the States.
Loved this episode! There is so much more info here than you can read about Maryland!
8:59 whaaaat I had no idea there were left- and right-handed lobsters
Nicely done, CJ and Luke!
I forsee an increase of sales in crabs for both of you.
They already sell all they catch .
Sony, I love your authenticity and honesty when making these videos, keep it up!
Sonny gets better and better over zhe years as a host. He really digs in and ask great questions. The description and details he goes into are on point. I like the fact he pays attention to the people and locals it helps to understand what their world is about. The out taks are funny too at the end. Happy trails Peace!

I semi agree. I'm now in NC. I miss my friends and the crab feasts. They have crabs, but not the MD culture.

Maryland, it's a cult, not a state. 😊
Oddly enough, and a total surprise, the best crab cake I have had was on the Amtrak Coastal Starlighter, overnight, out of Seattle to Sacramento. The kitchen manager said she would be sure to tell the chef my thoughts, as the chef made them from scratch that very day.
Always good to compliment the chef
I rarely have to bust out my headband this early but here it goes…
My Home State! Great to see our crabs featured to a wide audience! For those of you interested: come to Maryland and try the crabs for yourself - and beware of any place outside of Maryland selling you "Maryland-Style crab cakes" 10 times out of 10, they are nothing like the real thing!
I did training in APG and never experienced a crab feast dinner. How sad.
Bush River has some nice crabs too. I catch mine there when APG doesn't have the river closed for testing.
Luke has his own crabbing operation...why's he now working on another boat?
Cj and I just got together for this video!

South Alabama here. Actually cooking some jumbo crabs now with a side boil for veggies. Love ya Sonny!!
LIved in Westminster, MD for over 6 years and I would literally eat crabs every other days lmao...
It was cheap when I lived there. $1 per crab.
and ALWAYS have the Old Bay ready lol.
When was that? I think the days of $1 crabs are, sadly, long gone.
No Old Bay seasoning? Im not sure you were even in Maryland. 😂
Real Marylanders know JO spice is better than Old Bay
@patrickgriggs4130 100%. People don't realize that's what all the restaurants use
FYI the lump crab featured in this video is out of stock in every size on their website. With no date on when they are expecting it back in.
That's because it's the wrong time of year for harvesting blue crab. It'll be back in stock after the season opens mid-spring.
wait till april
Because it’s February haha.
Yea, as a Marylander we are 100% biased lol. I was a commercial waterman for about 8 years and I must say it takes a special breed to do what we do. I did “trot line” crabbing. 5k feet of long line with bait tied on every 4 ft or so. Lots of work baiting lines everyday and then crabbing the next morning at 3am. Thanks for showing our beloved (best) crabs and state to best food reviewers 🙏💙💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼
Nothing beats a soft shell crab sandwich. I dont live in Maryland anymore but any chance we can to go back and grab some frozen soft shells we do so we can fry them up for sandwiches later.
And growing up, sitting around a table outside cracking crabs for 6 hours as the sun goes down, just sitting with family talking and being together, perfect way to spend a summer evening.
You're going to get yelled at Sonny!
It's not a crab boil it's a crab feast! We don't boil crabs in Maryland we steam them!
What he said!
you steam crabs in maryland, you boil crabs usually down south.

There's another method to crabbing you see in MD in the fall. Scraping. The crabs mate and hang on the poles or other solid objects in the water. You net them while in the process of mating. Then they are called, "doublers". Coitus interuptus.
I forgot trot lining and chicken necking ways to catch crabs.
Please do more east coast content we love you! Also bloopers are hilarious!
I'm genuinely sick of seeing "better help" ads. They are fraudulent, and that's dangerous when it comes to people's mental health. They've had troubles that became public, yet podcasts and channels still hock fraud services for some ad money. Gross, dude
I find it worse when they advertise for gambling apps.
@user-ow8mq4jo8c that's another personal problem I have with some of the ads. But I do respect other people's ability to gamble. Selling fake mental health help is wrong on all accounta. Gambling isn't good, but if you want to, then go ahead

The way I love Crab! This episode is making me crave for it.
First soft shell crab I had I was 10 or 11. I was hooked. Now, as an adult, I get one 3 times a week fresh for 6 bucks each in the summer. Crabfeast are so chill, you sit around, eat crabs, drink beer, and smoke weed if you do. Everyone is relaxed, talking and interacting with each other and not just their phones. You talk to people you don't normally and old friends all alike. Everyone leaves with long-lasting memories. Been to hundreds over the years and can tell you about those times because I remembered them, well, or remembered we were all drunk.
No one wants that mess all over their phones. lol It is why it is the best time you will ever have. No one just sitting there on their phones.
Love your shows Sony. I will visit this crab places and try some soft shell crabs this summer .

I moved to Maryland in 2008. My wife used to brag about the great Maryland crabs. I couldn't wait to try them. We went to a restaurant and ordered crabs but they were fresh out. The crabs they were getting were from Florida (my home state). The Chesapeake Bay was on a decline for crabs. The crabs were making a comeback but not very plentiful. Glad they are back now but the traps look a little light! Maryland crabs cakes are awesome!

Crab cakes and football! That’s what Maryland does! I’m so ecstatic to see my state on display with our love of crabs. Bravo 👏👏👏 Also, I see ya Luke! 🦀
There's nothing like the sweetness from the blue crab. The meat is buttery and sweet with a slight briney taste from the sea. It is my favorite compared to all others. So good to see you enjoying Sunny!
